You Fail At Raging If...

Fail Day! This is normally where I would say this is the day where you feel better about yourself because of others failures, but today isn't an ordinary fail day. How you may ask? Well that is simple. You see there is times while you are gaming that you get upset, slightly pissed, and then there are those times you rage. Now today is all about how one could possibly fail at raging.

You Fail At Raging If...
  • You simply start over when your save file is corrupted
  • You just start laughing when those baneling landmines blew up your marines
  • You have never had some ask if you were ok when you screamed so loud the pictures fell off the walls
  • You don't have a shrine of broken remotes
  • You have never punched a monitor
  • You have once thought about if you could snap your keyboard in half over your forehead
  • You have never needed "time" to walk it off
  • You never just leeroyed shit just so everyone else would feel your pain
  • The words "Oh that's awesome" are said when your Black Mage gets berzerked
  • You keep smiling when your legendary weapon refuses to roll a socket
  • You whispered that hunter congrats for stealing your two-hander
  • You have words to describe being top decked Flamestriked
  • You don't have a story for all the random marks on your walls

And finally
  • You just stand up calming turn off the machine and walk away with a smile on your face
There you have it. This week's edition of failure. Hope you all got a good chuckle at yours and other expense.

Archon Mode

Monday! Yes it is Monday and you are probably slightly depressed, but then maybe not as much as a normal Monday because it is in fact a long weekend this coming weekend! I know! Man that was a lot of exclamation points! Let's not get to ahead of ourselves though. This Monday and every Monday it is time for me to showcase something for Machinima Monday, where today like a lot of other days I don't actually showcase a Machinima. This week I am going back to a staple in Carbot for his animation showcasing one of the new features coming out in Legacy of the Void. So have a watch!

I picture things like this happening all the time...

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Yes you are not dreaming your weekend is over. At least next weekend is a long weekend, so you have that going for you! As is the case every time the weekend is nearing an end it is time to go through my emails for the week and answer some questions. So let's get right to that.

Is it just me or has Sylvanas been in like every Heroes game I have played this week?

We were just joking about this the other day when we were playing as a group of 4. Every game our 5th ending up being Sylvanas. Now this wasn't always a bad thing as some people actually could play her. In other cases though it was quite sad. To me I don't know how you can justify playing your first game as a new hero with other people. You have no idea what the abilities do and you are just testing out the character. It really only will lead to you been a drain on your team. Sure by the end of the first match you might have a better idea but you really could have ruined the game for everyone else on your team.

Do you think Bloodborne really just shows that PS4 is the better choice?

Now Bloodborne is a great game I will give you that, but it really isn't a game which can decide a console war. Why? Well it isn't a game that everyone can get into. It is a hard game which not everyone will be able to get past. Sure it isn't as punishing as the Souls game, but it is not easy by any means. I really think Uncharted 4 is the one that will affirm this generation will be PS4's victory but will have to wait till next year now to see that come.

Why do games have to be exclusives?

So companies have nice things to fight over.

There they are this week's questions and their answers. Hopefully you all got something out of it and know to those who sent something in and I did not get to it yet, I will eventually! Enjoy what is left of your weekend everyone!

Am I Good?

Friday! Yes it is here and we are all waiting for what the weekend has for us. Many of us will be playing a variety of games this weekend and some of us will be still be playing Bloodborne. A game which tests your limits as a gamer. For this week's Reader Post Gilly sent me in not only a review of Bloodborne, but also his take on if he is in fact good enough to play it. Have a read!

Am I "good" at games? I don't know.

I'm 30 years old: I've been playing video games for 25 of those years, give or take. I spent two weeks this year completing Mega Man 1 through 4. I've sunk hundreds of hours into Spelunky. Whether I'm "good" at games is up for debate; I love challenging games. Despite this, I've never loved the divisive, feverishly adored/hated Souls games. Their challenges felt too great to overcome, their systems too inscrutable, their technical issues too great in number. They felt frustrating instead of challenging.

Bloodborne -- the latest entry in the series and the first without a "Souls" moniker attached -- changes that. This is a game I love to hate. But I mostly just love it.

So, what makes Bloodborne different from previous series entries? It's not nearly as much of a dick as previous games. Yeah. Really.

I'm not trying to be flip -- that's a totally serious statement. While previous games punished players incessantly with compounding measures, Bloodborne encourages you to keep trying. That is a crucial difference in game design, and one that should make it more appealing to a much larger audience.

I used the word "inscrutable" earlier in reference to the systems of previous games. Bloodborne is, by contrast, concise and easily understood.

Also, maybe don't fight the electric beast first thing

In the first part of Bloodborne, you've got two main pathways to go: toward two different bosses. One is hard, but beatable. The other is nigh impossible in the early stages of character development.

Again, maybe I'm not very good at games.

Instead of pushing me down, Bloodborne forces me to play smarter. And it doesn't make me feel like a jerk when I don't. I don't know if I'm good enough for Bloodborne, but I'm trying to be.

I will agree it is much more forgiving then the Souls games, but not in a way which makes it easier. With that in mind enjoy your weekend no matter what you are playing!

It Is All Worth It In The End

So here I was playing Bloodborne and obviously dying quite a bit. Not that I am opposed to dying, because in a game like Bloodborne and those like it you learn from your deaths each and every time. If you don' then you really are going to be overly frustrated and then just end up raging, and maybe even loosing a couple remotes in the process.

Now when all this was happening I was trying to think to myself why I enjoy playing games that are difficult. Now when it comes down to it I always love a challenge. I think most gamers do. They tend to do things, which others never think would be impossible. This is why we have trophies and achievements, to show how messed up and demented we can be. It is not only the challenge though. I enjoy the sense of accomplishment that what I am doing is not going to be done by everyone who picks up a game. I like the fact that I was able to pull that off after the time I put into something. I love the fact that I scream yes, jump for joy, clap, or give myself a pat on the back. I love doing something that warrants a screenshot or an instant text to a friend.

All this isn't for bragging rights though. It really is how you are proud of what you were able to do. Now non gamers will say this is stupid and why would you ever be proud of something you did in a game. The fact of the matter is, why shouldn't you be?

So yes. Hard games can drive you insane. They may cause deaths that will make you not even want to touch a game for days. They may cause a sudden burst of anger, which will leave you explaining why that mark is on the wall. What they also bring though are those memories of the first time doing that, and the struggle you went through to get there.

If a game is easy you will never have any of that. Sure you will remember the game, but you won't have those moments where you overcame something you thought you would never do. So play those hard games, push through the frustration and it all will be worth it in the end.

They Say I Can't Lose. I Say You Can't Win

Wednesday and after one day of Bloodborne there really is only one thing on my mind. Some games are just harder than others. Not that I mind it. I actually enjoy when something is challenging and isn't ridiculously easy. Instead of going over what I find to be the most difficult games I am going to do specific fights. You know those boss battles that you actually fist pump yourself when you are done with them. So here are my choices

5. Bhunivelze - Lightning Returns

The final boss of Lightning Returns not only challenges your ability to build a party correctly, but also your knowledge of the game and all its ins and outs. Really there are not many final bosses that make you use all the knowledge you should have gained through playing all in one fight. Not to mention if you happen to not have a couple things in your inventory this boss becomes almost impossible.

4. Alma - Ninja Gaiden

In a series where every boss challenges you in every way imaginable this puts you to the test. You will need speed patience and persision to defeat Alma, but when you finally do one of the most satisfying things you will do gaming wise.

3. Ornstein and Smough -Dark Souls

Either of these bosses on their own would have been brutal. Fighting them together then when one is dead assumes the powers of the others well that is pretty much borderline unfair. You will die countless times learning this encounter, but when you finally get it you may actually stand up and do a little dance.

2. Red Falcon - Contra

So you thought when you killed that alien head you would be done. That in itself could have made this list and no one would have said anything about it, but no you then get to fight the real deal in probably the smallest possible area with no room for error. This actually borders on the unfair and impossible line.

1. Mike Tyson - Mike Tyson's Punch Out

Now we all know the real Mike Tyson has some issues, but it was a whole different story when this game came out. The gaming rules of the day where that games needed to be brutally hard and this was no exception. I am still of the firm belief that you needed to know the pattern to beat him because the control you were using wasn't quick enough to respond to what you saw. The new Wii version doesn't give this justice for this very reason.

There you have it. Agree or disagree you know the deal just let me know. As I am sure there will be plenty of backlash on this one.

You Fail At Being Ready For Bloodborne If...

Fail Day! Yes it is here. That can also be said for the Bloodborne, which you are either taking a break from or waiting to get your hands on it. That is unless you know nothing about it. This is the fact which leads us directly into today's Fail Day. So here we go

You Fail At Being Ready For Bloodborne If...

  • You just said "Bloodborne what?"
  • You don't have a PS4
  • You prefer games that are all sunshine and rainbows
  • You are not prepared to die continuously
  • You are easily frustrated
  • You think excess gore makes a game less interesting
  • You don't have a replacement remote for when one gets thrown into a wall
  • You like to be coddled
  • You don't know what it is like for a game to punish your muscle memory
  • You didn't know when you bring someone into your world it summons a boss
  • You are not pumped up for transformable weapons
  • You thought Dark Souls II was easy

and finally

  • You have never really played a game which was "Hard"

There you have it. This week's edition of Fail. Enjoy you multitude of deaths throughout the day!

Demon Blood PSA

Monday! Here we are starting another week and when you star the week besides coming here to see what is up for Machinima Monday you want something to start the week off right. So why not combine the two in a weird way. That is what Mooclucking has done for us with his newest creation in Demon Blood PSA. So sit back and enjoy this low resolution alternate Draenor.

Now don't you feel better?

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Yes the weekend is coming to an end. It's sad, but you will live to do it all over again. With that in mind I have gone through my emails for the week and picked out some questions I think many of you might get some use out of. So here we go.

Do you think the Campaign will be playable with the LotV trailer?

The will probably have parts of it playable. I an't bring myself to spoil the story so I don't see myself playing it if I get in. I will though play the multiplayer endlessly. I really think that is more of what they are concerning themselves with anyway. The campaign is a story there are units that won't see the light of day in multiplayer. Mulitplayer on the other hand is the Esports bread and butter and they want to make sure that everything with it as well and good.

Is it just me or does gaming seem more popular this year?

I really just think it is the world we live in. People enjoy spending their time how they like. I feel there are games for everyone now and not just for specific people. This makes it easier for anyone really to "get into it". People want to feel as if they have spent their time wisely on something they enjoy and they are doing it. Now this doesn't mean there are now suddenly millions of people deciding to play 16 hours a day. because that isn't true. It is though true there may be millions spending one or two hours checking out something they wouldn't have before.

Bloodborne this week!

Yes you don't have to tell me. Will be right into it come Tuesday.

There they are questions for the week. Hope to those that got their questions on here they accept the response and for those who didn't I will get to your questions eventually. Enjoy what is left of your weekend everyone!

Plan C?

Friday! Yes here we are at the end of the week looking for something to make us think about what really has been going on. Now with Legacy of the Void Closed Beta being just around the corner I figured now would be a good time to talk about some Starcraft Lore. TheBentOne has a Theory for this week's Reader Post which might point to the fact that Kerrigan wasn't the Overmind's Plan A. Here it is

Ok, so we've all been doing a lot of thinking in regards to the zerg, and Kerrigan and the overmind and prophecy lately, and I've been wondering myself about the incredibly contrived and unlikely series of events that lead Kerrigan to become the only hope of defeating the generic big bad and saving the swarm.

Did the giant eons old brain really want to leave the fate of his swarm in the hands of a series of events that are far more likely to not happen than happen. I think not, therefore I theorize that Carapace Jesus is actually at least the second backup plan, as the Overmind had set in motion things that were far more strategically sound in place first.

First I'll start with what we know, Amon programmed into the Overmind the desire to kill the protoss. At some point the Overmind realizes this and also that amon plans on creating a massive hybrid army to wrest control of the swarm from him. Naturally the giant eyeball is unhappy with this. So what does he do?

He tries to assimilate the Protoss, note that this is a very important distinction from his directive, which only states destroy. The Overmind knows Amon is coming with his army of Hybrids once the protoss are destroyed, but the Overmind is going to be ready, he wants to assimilate the Protoss, which will lead to their destruction, but will also allow him to spawn hybrids of his own to combat the forces of the dark god. Kerrigan is still created as the supreme agent of the swarm designed to combat protoss psionics, but her role in keeping the zerg away from amon is negligible, unless a series of unlikely evens come to pass.

The first of these events is the death of the overmind. However it would seem that the Overmind had a contingency for this that didn't involve Kerrigan as well. His Cerebrates were hard wired to recreate him. I believe that this new overmind would continue to attempt to assimilate the protoss and lead the swarm much the same way the old one did, this was a sound plan B in case the unthinkable happened and the Overmind was slain.

Only if the second overmind were destroyed and prevented from reforming would Kerrigan enter the picture. She pretty clearly isn't the perfect choice, being of limited human scope, and requiring a long list of unlikely events needed to enable the swarms success, but as a third contingency, she is the best the overmind had to work with, and also free to seek solutions outside the overminds constraint of "must destroy the protoss.".

Personaly I'm a fan of this particular theory, because It would return the Overmind to amoral hivemind master planer and geneticist. In stead of random slave of the big bad howling the prison of his own mind. I also think it makes sense given what we know so far. So I'm going with it until blizzard proves me otherwise.

There it is. I think it makes sense because planning out what has actually happened you would think would be highly unlikely, but then it is a prophecy and those really aren't supposed to be like it is what makes them so. I'll leave you with all of that to enjoy your weekend with

Legacy Of The Void Closed Beta

So I am pretty pumped u. Blizzard released a Closed Beta Trailer for Legacy of the Void. If you haven't seen here it is

Not only does it look great, but it looks even better than it did at Blizzcon. There are so many things I am looking forward to from a competitive standpoint that Legacy of the Void seems to have tackled. Also with more micro intensive units it will make the games that much more exciting to watch. Also will make different builds used more often something I think Heart of the Swarm has suffered from because the risk and reward scenario currently isn't there.

Now I also don't want to jinx it, but Blizzard has been pretty good about getting me into there Betas lately. If I get in you all can expect some content on here with me going crazy playing it. Also I would also appreciate anyone who gets in talk with me about it good or bad, because really this is about making the game the best it can be when it makes its way out

More Important To Know Yourself

Wednesday. It is here and time for a list. I know the last couple of weeks people have been all over me about the wrong choices. So this week I decided to go with a list where people are going to disagree about everything, even if I think this list totally makes sense. So here it is my list for the most unfair characters in fighting games!

5. Scorpion - Injustice: Gods Among Us

Adding Scorpion from Mortal Kombat seemed like a good idea at first but then when you actually faced off against him there was some pretty obvious mechanical flaws, which just lead to constant raging.

4. Akuma -Street Fighter Series

So he shares the same move sets as Ryu and Ken. So it seems all well and good except for the fact that he is stronger and can throw fireballs from the air? What were they thinking

3. Eddie Gordo - Tekken Series

See the key to any fighting game is being able to read your opponent and plan out your attack. Against a ok to good Eddie Player this becomes very difficult as he is dancing around and you can't get a read off of his attacks.

2. Meta Knight - Super Smash Bros Brawl

His speed, recovery, and move list are bad enough to have him outlawed, but then when you add in his wide attacks and his ability to fly it all just makes him a nightmare to play against in the most unfair ways possible.

1. Yoda - Soul Calibur IV

So every Soul Calibur game has a guest character. In part IV we had some Star Wars characters including the Jedi Master Yoda. The problem with Yoda was with his size many of your abilities would hit to high and miss along with the fact that he could not be grappled and could grapple you seemed slightly unfair.

There they are my choice for the most unfair fighters in fighting games. I am sure many of you have your own opinions so as always let me know your thoughts

You Fail At Spoilers If...

Fail Day, and also Happy St. Patty's to all of my Irish friends and all those others who are looking to get their drink on. Even with all the celebrating going on though we do have a Fail Day to take care of itself. This week I decided to go with a touchy subject, that being spoilers. In modern games the story is a central focus and really no one wants to be "that guy". So here we go

You Fail At Spoilers If..

  • You think we are talking about car spoilers
  • You think just because you have played a game everyone has
  • You have ever uttered the words "You are going to love the part when..."
  • You are sitting beside the person and keep saying "pay attention this is important"
  • You give fake spoilers because you think it is clever
  • You warn people on what is about to happen therefore ruining it
  • You don't care about the story anyway so why should anyone else
  • You are too busy playing Call of Duty Multiplayer to care about other people playing real games
  • You have issues keeping things to yourself
  • You read all the spoilery reviews on the internet before you even play the game
  • You can't even beat a game so you had to watch all the cutscenes on youtube to see what the spoilers actually were

and finally

  • The game has been out for over a year then you really shouldn't expect to be playing in a spoiler free world

There you have it this week's edition of fail. So cheers and enjoy your Guinness

Man At Arms

So when I was sitting around thinking about what I would decide to show you all when I realized I have never Showcased Man At Arms. You see Man At Arms is a show done every other week where they blacksmith weapons from all the games we love along. It really is something to see some of these iconic weapons come to life. The one I am sharing with you is not only one of my favourite builds, but probably was their most requested piece. So have a watch!

I know it's amazing

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Yes the weekend is nearing a end and you really haven't done anything worth while. You should feel bad and I am not going to sugar coat it. What I can do though is answer some of the questions sent in for the week and you can read the responses and you may feel better about everything. So here goes

Have you seen the amazing Starcraft II arcade game of Warcraft III?

Why yes I saw the showcase on MMO-Champion the other day. For those who haven't.

It looks great and really brings back some memories of gaming times past. I will have to play it when it is finally completed. Warcraft III prior to Starcraft II was a game that could blend a complex and challenging RTS game with one which had a story that made you want to play the game in more than a competitive manor. So it is always good times.

Do you think it is odd there is no Starcraft Warrior in Heroes of the Storm?

If you didn't notice there is also no Diablo support Hero. I do think they will be dealing with this soon enough as we tend to forget the game itself is still in the Beta phase and not even Open Beta. As for who that could be that is anyone's guess, but my feeling is we will see Fenix as the Starcraft Warrrior and maybe Auriel as the Diablo Support Hero.

Did you have a good Pi Day?

Course I did and I hope everyone else did!

There they are the questions all answered for the week. Hopefully that made some of you feel better about wasting your weekend thus far. If not then my apologies

Adventures and Golden Cards

Friday! Yes here we are with the weekend approaching and the day before Pi Day! Regardless though if you can contain yourself for what is to come tomorrow Friday does mean Reader Post time. This week I decided to go with a post from Koko and his thoughts towards adventures in Hearthstone and golden cards.

Hey!

This is a very serious question I would like to ask the designers. And I don't mean the gameplay designers, balance wise. I mean the economy designers. The ones, who decide about Arcane Dust value, disenchanting and creating cards costs. And that vs the Packs cost. Could combine this topic with the kind of card Pack awarded from the Arena.

So the question is:
Are the golden cards from the adventures meant only for the players who wish to pay real life money? Or is there some lack of knowledge, lack of realization that it is not really possible for an average free to play player?

For an example, I would call myself an average free to play player. I have been playing from BETA stage of the game, I did not take any breaks from Hearthstone. Maybe in total, I skipped, let's say a month of dailies (so 30 x 60 gold = 1800 gold), I do not miss out on a daily. Meaning if I have three daily quests in the Quest Log, I do complete one before midnight. I also re-roll dailies, say my Quest Log is empty, I get 40 gold quest, I re-roll it till it's 60 gold one, or until I have three quests (even if all three quests are 40 gold) then I complete one before midnight to not lose this 40 gold at least. It is simple economy - min-maxing.
I have been also playing the Arena quite often (whenever I had the gold for it) when the 100% reward was still the Expert Pack. I have bought Curse of Naxxramas for gold, which I saved up, I did benefit from the 1st wing being free, which saved me 700 gold.
The only time I spent real money, was around 2-3 times, during BETA, on the Arena runs,

At the moment, I am still missing 14+ Legendary cards from the Expert (Classic) set and a few Epics. I am on 3k gold (stopped playing the Arena when GvG was released and the Arena Pack has been changed) and I am on around 3k Arcane Dust.

When it has been announced that Curse of Naxxramas golden versions of the cards will be ONLY craftable (not obtainable /// nor any other requirements are needed to craft them except for obtaining the regular version of the card) I became quite sad. Back then I created a topic, with a suggestion, that the golden cards could be a rare drop chance for defeating the boss on Heroic mode, but it was mainly for the replayability of the Heroic version of the bosses. There have been a few blue responses that Heroic mode is like a crossword, once you solve it, there is no reason to solve it again. It is true, but if there is a possibility of giving a reason to solve something again (maybe not even in the same way), not allowing that possibility is a lost opportunity - in my, more than humble opinion, of course. The golden cards could be both - craftable (for the players that wish to pay real money to get a lot of Arcane Dust fast) and obtainable from a % drop chance, from defeating the Heroic version of the boss (for the free to play players that really want the golden card and wish to "grind" for it).

There is also no replayability for the Normal mode, but at least it can be easily replayed with a purpose, for example, to complete the 100 gold daily for which the player is to win 7 games in ANY mode - this includes the games against the AI.

Even though it was quite disappointing that there is no other way to obtain the golden versions of Curse of Naxxramas cards, I didn't give up the thought that I will get them eventually. If I get a lot of cards in the Packs that I already have, it's simply Arcane Dust, it is possible, I thought.

When GvG was released, nothing really changed, I didn't think any different, although the GvG Pack from the Arena changes my situation a bit. Mathematically it is better for me to spend the gold on the Arena, and craft the missing cards from the Expert set, since GvG card pool is significantly lower. Meaning, I will get all the cards from the GvG set, and then a lot of duplicates (faster than from the Expert set), which will become Arcane Dust. This can complete my Expert set way faster than buying the Expert Packs, especially if I get more gold from the Arena than I invested. Endless circle of gold, cards and dust.

But now, seeing that Blackrock Mountain is very similar in design to Curse of Naxxramas, I suspect that the golden cards will be only craftable. If adventures and expansions will arrive regularly every 4 months, it will be literally impossible to collect all of the cards and their golden versions, and this is a COLLECTIBLE CARD GAME.

So hey! My question stands:
Are the golden cards from the adventures meant only for the players who wish to pay real life money? Or is there some lack of knowledge, lack of realization that it is not really possible for an average free to play player?

I really would like to see this one from the design point of view. Not only because I think it is a huge flaw (or it is made on purpose), but also because I am interested in the game design subject.

Best regards, Koko.

Thanks again to Koko for his submission for the week. As always thanks to everyone who sent something in this would not be possible without all of your contributions. Enjoy your weekend and Pi Day!

A Thiefing Delay

So you may have missed the announcement yesterday, but if you didn't the Playstation blog read this

Since we showed you our first gameplay reveal of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, more of the game and story have come together, and it’s become clear to us that this game is much more ambitious than we originally envisioned.

After spending so many years with Nathan Drake, he means a lot to the team, and telling the climactic chapter of his adventures is a task we don’t take lightly — this game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naughty Dog is known for. So we’ve made the difficult choice of pushing the game’s release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards, but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title.

Thank you for your patience — we know the extra wait will be excruciating, but you’ll see it will be worth it as we reveal more about Uncharted 4 over the next year. The team at Naughty Dog will be heads down working through 2015 making sure that Nathan Drake’s story gets the closure it deserves. Come Spring 2016, you and Nate are in for one thrilling, emotional ride.

Bruce Straley & Neil Druckmann // Directors, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Yes I know...

We won't be seeing Uncharted 4 this year. As many of you know Uncharted is my one of my favourite series if not my favourite. Although it sucks that I won't have a chance to play this year I trust Naughty Dog knows what they are doing in holding it back. They are the type of company that cares about their product and want all of us as gamers to have the best possible experience.

I am not going to lie and say it is going to be easy. Ever since the first teaser trailer I have been beyond psyched for this. There is other games coming out this year that I will love playing so it isn't a complete loss, but it does hurt nonetheless.

Now excuse me while I crawl up in the corner and cry it out.

Whatever I May Be - Whatever I May Become In This World - Know That I Will Always Look Out For You

So here I was getting for what list I was going to do this week. When I was getting flack from all of these people for my list last week. Why aren't such and such part of it? Why not them? Well then when people started naming couples I was thinking were they even really a couple. Then it got me thinking what about those that shit just happened and it never ended how you would have thought it should have. Now just so I am covering myself this is not going to include those who broke it off and never got a chance to get back together. I am looking at you Arthas and Jaina! So with that in mind here are my choices for the couples that never got their chance!

5. Balthier and Ashe - Final Fantasy XII

So some may even argue this was never going to be a thing. Balthier just has other things on his mind like saving the world and being the leading man. I would argue though that the ending when he gives back the ring just makes you think.

4. Raynor and Kerrigan - Starcraft Series

When Wings of Liberty ended you thought this was finally going to happen. She was finally no longer and evil murderous killing machine hellbent on killing everything. Except now she had to get her Zerg ways back to save the world and live Jim hanging. Who knows what we are in store for in Legacy of the Void, but I hoping to some form of ending to this.

3. Cloud and Aerith - Final Fantasy 7

Boys meets girl. Boy saves girl. Boy vows to protect girl. Girl runs off and tries to save the world. Crazy guy with giant sword kills girl in front of boy and all his friends. In one of the saddest moments in gaming history if you know the backstory you can actually feel the characters pain followed by the burial and just wow sucks to be Cloud.

2. Ezio and Christina - Assassin's Creed

Now if the death of Aerith was sad I am not sure there is a word for Christina's. Ezio has to leave her behind after his family is killed to protect her. He later ensures she can have a husband that is worthy of her. He comes back when all the fighting he needed to was done only to have her die in his arms. Ya it still hurts.

1. Illidan and Tyrande - Warcraft Series

Now I am sure we can all agree that Cloud and Ezio got the short end of the stick. At least they could have had some form of peace finding others for themselves. Illidan saved the world twice, along with Tyrande's life, only to be imprisoned for 10,000 years, banished, exiled, and not to mention, she ended up choosing his twin brother over him. All he has for his efforts is a memento of her which he magically imbues so that it never fades. This is not only tragic, but awful in every possible way you can think. Poor guy, always doing the right thing, the wrong way.

There it is. So is there any complaints for this week's list? I am sure there will be so go ahead and let me know what they are!

You Fail At Accepting Help From Others If...

Fail Day! Yes time for all of us to feel better about ourselves that is unless you are the person who fits right into this week's Fail Day niche. This week is a special one because we all know at least one of these people. You know those people that need help, but refuse to accept it in anyway possible. You all know who you are, and this is for you.

You Fail At Accepting Help From Others If...

  • Your attention span is non existent
  • You die repeatably the same way and ignore all ways to avoid it
  • You argue how keyboard turning and clicking works just fine for you
  • You have 10000000000000000 damage and 10 health
  • You take everything someone says about how you are playing and ways you can improve as "You Suck"
  • You see accepting help as admitting defeat
  • Regardless if simply proven otherwise anything that kills you is OP
  • You quit games before accepting you need someone's help
  • You cry in order to make people stop talking to you
  • You think looking at replays is for bitches
  • You prepare for everything instead of scouting because scouting takes away from "the plan"
  • You don't bother with boss strats winging it always works better
  • You believe you know everything you need to know about any game you play even if it is the first time you have ever played it. In your mind you coded it.

and finally

  • You don't think you need help whatsoever

There it is this week's edition of fail. Just do it all a favour even if it is just for the day listen to those who are trying to help you out.

Roarcraft

Monday! So here we go starting another week fresh and wondering what we are going to do with ourselves. With that in mind I decided to not only showcase Pogo's Roarcraft but the video only with it so you can have this wonderful ear worm and video for it for the rest of the day. So enjoy!

I know you hate me, and love me at the same time

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Yes it is here and your weekend is coming to a close. You can worry about what you did and where it all went later, because right now we have questions to answer for this week's Ask Gauss so here we go.

Do you feel the Heroes of the Storm match making system is flawed?

I think right now the system seems unfair because of the number of players. Many people forget this game is still in Beta and that really shouldn't be forgotten. There are things being looked at everyday to improve upon and balance right up until the launch of the game. I would be more concerned with some Heroes being underplayed or how quickly a game can change on Cursed Hollow rather than things completely based upon player numbers.

Looking at the trailers and previews for Mortal Kombat 10 do you think it is a little extreme?

Let's be honest here if you are playing a fighting game you expect certain things to be the case. When you want to see awesomely designed swords and wacky created players you look to Soul Calibur, when you want classic style you go to Street Fighter, and when you want epic fatalities then it is all about Mortal Kombat. If that isn't your thing then so be it, but don't forget when people started playing the series in the first place.

If sports games are dying why are people still buying and playing them all the time?

The quality of the games has dropped off. Gamers who want content no longer play them.

There you have it this week's questions all wrapped up for you. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

Good News Everyone?

Here we are on Friday getting ready for your weekend and what better way to do that then talk about a character's role from a couple expansions ago. When having a random conversation with Paulak about lore he was encountering back in Wrath he had this to say.

So, I have been running all of the Wrath stuff again of late because I am finishing up my Shadowmourne. One thing that really sticks in my head is, between the abominations and constructs in Naxxramas (Patchwerk, Gluth, Grobbulus, Thaddius), Thrym in Zul Drak, and Stinky, Precious, Rotface and Festergut, was Professor Putricide ultimately responsible for all of their creations?

I know that Kel'Thuzad is the leader of Naxxramas and the boss, but does he really have the working knowledge and scientific prowess to build such horrible monstrosities? It seems that, outside of a mastery of undeath, KT doesn't really possess the tools needed to disassemble living creatures, the foresight to design and blueprint what those terrible creatures would become, and then possess the sheer genius that is necessary to build the apparatuses necessary to construct the monstrous creatures, revivify and reanimate them, and experiment via the scientific method to perfect the finished product.

All three other wings of Naxxramas make sense for KT to have dominion over, as the Plague and Military quarters are literally the pursuits of necromancers and KT before he became a lich (perfecting the plague and raising powerful warriors as DKs), and the Arachnid quarter is the servants of Anub'Arak who are bound to the will of the LK in their undeath. In ICC, Putricide has mad scientists patrolling his area, but we can assume they are experimental scientists and, ultimately, lab assistants to the mad brilliance of Putricide.

So, it begs the question: was Putricide actually the genius behind the terrible abominations that the Lich King wrought about Azeroth?

An interesting take but I think Kel'thuzad might really have had a role to play. He was part of the council of six remember. Regardless something to think about while enjoying your weekend!

The Token To Change The World

So you may have heard but if you haven't feel free to read Blizzard's FAQ here

Basically thought it breaks down to this

Coming soon to an Azeroth near you: the WoW Token, a new in-game item that allows players to simply and securely exchange gold and game time between each other.

Players will be able to purchase a WoW Token through the in-game Shop for real money, and then sell it on the Auction House for gold at the current market price. When a player buys a WoW Token from the Auction House for gold, the Token becomes Soulbound, and the player can then redeem it for 30 days of game time.

Now this doesn't mean that WoW is becoming free to play by any means. What it does mean that this is a way for not only people with high amounts of gold they are not using to get a reward for it, but also a way for those who need a quick boost of gold if they have been away from the game and off the inflation curve.

Blizzard also hopes this will reduce the number of people being hacked for the gold 3rd party site gold suppliers because there will be a safe and non ToS breaking way for people to get a hold of gold for the game.

Now because this is going to be Blizzard set value this isn't going to be able to be taken over from those who are trying to create a market on the auction house. Truthfully I see this as Blizzard's way of giving back to players who have accumulated wealth by spending a lot of time playing their game and therefore giving them an option to keep playing without costing them real money.

So as you probably figured out I like the idea and applaud Blizzard for making this happen.

So Where Do We Go From Here Huh?

Well here we are in the middle of the week when we only have one thing to do besides shovel because of all the snow that ended up on the driveway last night. What is that you ask? Well that is make a list. Now I have got a lot of flack about how I have never done a couples themed list ever. So do you know what well I am going to do it now. Now I want to make a couple stipulations one being games where you can make your own romances. Looking at you Mass Effect and Dragon Age. Other than that everything is fair game. So here are my picks be prepared to bitch.

5. Mario and Princess Peach - Mario Bros Series

I don't think you can ever make a list such as this and not include these two. Sure she seems to always get captured and Mario is always doing the saving. Except for that one game which name escapes me when crying could be used as a weapon. Maybe one day she will learn to avoid capture.

4. Squall and Rinoa - Final Fantasy 8

Out of all the Final Fantasy there is one which stands out as being perfectly made that it could be seamlessly be made into a movie. There just isn't anything to like about the two of them. They play off each other and make the game fun to play each time you do.

3. Link and Zelda - Legend of Zelda Series

Just like Mario and the Peach it would be hard to make a list without these two. Through all of the games we have met many incarnations of them and how it all plays out. Skyward Sword being my favourite of the bunch.

2. Tidus and Yuna - Final Fantasy X/X-2

Sure this one might be slight cheeseball. Especially when remembering the whole laughing incident. The reason why I rank this one so high is that the girl doesn't seem like an addon and really is just as important if not more so. Also it isn't the happy ending one expects and to me that gets more props for doing so. Now if you played through X-2 you get that happy ending, but still those who played would understand.

1. Drake and Elena - Uncharted Series

I really don't think there is much competition for these two. Mostly because most gaming relationships either seem forced to be part of the story or they really don't play out as one in the world would. Uncharted does it completely different. This seems exactly how a real couple would play out right before you and to me is one of the real reason I love the series itself.

There are my choices. Agree or disagree those are them regardless. Now I must shovel.

You Fail At Gaming Peripherals If...

Fail Day! Yes it is here and this week I just have something on my mind. Normally I stay away from things outside of games. Unless, of course, I am asked specifically about things I use or why. This is because I don't want to seem like I favor some things over others. Now I know what you are all thinking and my smack talk about xbox is completely different. I am talking about gaming peripherals and here we go.

You Fail At Gaming Peripherals if...

  • You have no idea what gaming peripherals are
  • You don't think a mechanical keyboard makes a difference
  • You only buy things from one specific company
  • You buy things without doing any research
  • You have a 16 button mouse and don't play an MMO
  • You don't know what half of the buttons on your keyboard do
  • You have a non USB headset
  • You bought something for the pretty lights it has
  • You have purchased the same item you already own only because it has a different game stamp on it
  • You don't install the software they come with
  • You own a Mac
  • You question why some people have multiple mice and keyboards
  • You only own one console controller

and finally

  • You think having something specific will give you godly gaming powers

There you have it! This week's edition of Fail. Hope you all got a kick out of or maybe learned something. If not well then that kind of sucks not going to lie.

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Yes it is here and we are left wondering where the weekend has gone off to. That and how we have now entered March people got tons of plans already in the making. All that planning aside though do have some questions to answer. So let's get to it.

Did I hear we are going to get Sylvanas in Heroes?

Apparently yes! She will be a ranged Specialist from what I am hearing. Also will be here as a Dark Ranger probably with a High Elf Skin. Without knowing her specific abilities hard to comment, but I don't doubt in her being a favourite.

So with The Order:1886 released. What do you think is the next biggest new title coming?

Well that would have to be Bloodborne. Game that I can't get enough of every time I see it. That plus the Dark Souls type difficulty it plans on bringing to the table I don't see how I couldn't be excited for such a game. I know it won't be for everyone though, but I believe those who do get it will be the ones who will talking about it for a long time. In both a good and bad sense.

Are you just going to post your next week's list on Ask Gauss every week now?

No.

There you have it questions answered for the week. Hope you all got some information you can use in one way or another. Thanks to everyone who sent something in if I got to it on here or not as always wouldn't be possible with out all of you.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
