Harbingers

Monday! As is always the case with Monday is you try to pretend it isn't Monday. Since you are here though it seems you have already faced the realization that it is in fact Monday. So you are then here to see what I will be showcasing this week. As with the last World of Warcraft expansion where Blizzard introduced the Warlords one at a time they have something planned for Legion. They will be introducing the Harbingers and here is the first installment for you all to enjoy.

So will you tune in for the rest?

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Yes your weekend is ending and you really didn't accomplish much of anything. Well just think you really aren't the only one. So instead of thinking about something else to ease into today's post why don't we just get to the questions.

Do you really think Blizzard will change the servers whose RP was effected?

I think they may look into it. They are also trying to think of ways to benefit things from everyone. Over the years there have been things that have been changed for the betterment of the playerbase as a whole. Sadly the RP community while there are people that take part the larger community is more concerned with population and how that effects their gameplay. It is much better to go with this solution then forced server transfers. Just think of the uproar if that was being forced upon people.

Why do you think people are so obsessed with Pokemon Go?

People want what others don't have. Knowing that you don't have everything you could have when you apply it to a gaming atmosphere just makes it a recipe for craziness. Not to mention the card craze that took place years ago now has all those people playing the game. They know how to go the extra mile in terms of crazy. I do think it will die down, but as always these things take time.

Are you enjoying the new patch?

I have yet to make time to do so yet. Will get to it eventually though no worries

There they are this week's questions. Hope you all got something out of them in some way or another. As always thanks to everyone who sent something in it would not be possible to do this without you. Now feel free to enjoy the rest of your weekend.

This Is NONSENSE!

Friday! Yes the end of the week is here and it is time to get to that Reader Post. So what to talk about this week? Well it is pretty simple to choose from. I received so many emails regarding the new WoW patch and the effect on RP servers. So I choose one from Mithara because it formulated its point the best.

This is NONSENSE. I'm on an RP server so I can talk to, and play with guild mates, friends, and people on my own server, and occasionally with other smaller Cross realm Zoners(CRZ) out in the wilds.

I am from Cenarion Circle, a small roleplaying server, currently merged with Sisters of Elune. It's a good mix of two small communities that knitted together well after a bit of work; we weren't over-crowded, we were merged so we could see each other's addons, and we could trade and talk normally.

Blizzard decided to mash the two biggest RP servers, Wyrmrest Accord(WRA) and Moon Guard(MG), together with Cenarion Circle and it's merged realm Sisters of Elune, with BlackwaterRaiders and other servers in a poorly mixed and completely RANDOM Melting Pot of confusion and angry. Stormwind is now PHASED. I can't see my own guildmates on in a building with me, but I sure can see 30 WRA, MG, and other equally confused and angry players milling about yelling, griefing, and complaining!

Partying with friends sends you to the same phase--eventually--but the huge influx of WRA and MG players still completely squashes CC's small groups, making it impossible to find people to trade or work with even in the cities. WRA and MG have such high populations on their own that they should not be a part of CRZ in cities; it's pointless to do so.

We can't roleplay, we can't talk, and we can't play the GAME this way. Even phasing a city is ridiculous, but phasing it so that guildmates can't play together? Even if this wasn't bugged it would still be abhorrent. Please tell me that this isn't here to stay?

While I understand the point of this and it makes sense that some will be upset. I believe the devs will look at how this is working and find better servers to be paired with one another. So my best advice would be sit tight and relax a little and let things work themselves out. What do you all think?

Pokemon No

So I assume some of you are playing Pokemon Go. Actually probably a lot of you are playing it. I don't get it I was never a big Pokemon person, but then again I am older than people think I am. Now I may not be as crazy as the picture above from this man in Vancouver, but I must admit it has got pretty crazy.

Now you might think I am overreacting about this, but then I read this article "Auschwitz bans Visitors from playing Pokemon Go". When things have got to this stage something really needs to be done about it. I understand Nintendo is probably having a blast with this "catch them all" attitude but again the extent of people who are willing to go "the extra mile" has been in my mind underestimated.

There have been from what I seen 100s of police reports and complaints about people trespassing just in my area, and this isn't even a large place. This leads me to try and think about how things could be changed, but really with the way the game is setup I have no idea at all. This may actually lead to city bans or other extreme actions with violations happening all over the place.

Now don't get me wrong I love the idea of gamers going insane for something. This really is what I have been wanting to see happen. Also I think the press has lead to non-gamers checking out what all the fuss is about. All I ask is let this not lead to something which humanity will look back on as one of the darkest days of world.

On The Flightpath

Wednesday! Yes, it is here. As always in Gauss land it is time to create a list about something that I feel is somewhat relevant. With the new Legion Pre-Expansion patch out and all the new things that have been added to the game I thought it would be the perfect time to go over what I thought have been the best features added to World of Warcraft over the years. So here goes.

5. Phasing

Having the world change based upon the quests you have done is something that you never would have thought possible when the game first launch. We were brought this through the the questing experience through Wrath of the Lich King and now it is hard to imagine the game without it.

4. Transmogrification

For years players suffered through unmatching armor and weapons, and dreamed of being able to use the sets and weapons of old. Blizzard was afraid having such a system would lead to a decline in art design in the future. What it did though is allowed the artists to design things more specific and tailor to tastes instead of trying to please everyone with each set, something I believe change everything for the better.

3. LFD

Remember when you had to run to an instance and actually go inside it? Also when you had to group with everyone from your server and were looking for specific people in trade to get it done? Well that was the case before LFD came to be and let you queue from anywhere. This made you see the world less, but it did make for faster completion and less just standing around.

2. PvP System

Before the PvP system people hardly fought anyone of the opposing faction especially on PvE servers. This changed and gave everyone motivation to do so. Sure at first it was a grind, but this system lead to Battlegrounds, and later Arenas think about how much different the game would be without it.

1. Flying

In Classic you took flight paths everywhere. Some of the paths being as long as 15 minutes. Sure you got to see a lot of the countryside. It did though waste your time when you could be doing better things. There have been complaints with it over the years, but the overall result of it being added has been positive.

There you have it the best features that have been added to WoW over the years in my opinion. I assume you have others so as always let me know one way or another.

You Failed At Garrison's If...

Fail Day! Yes here we are on yet another Fail Day. This fail day is a different though, because you cannot fail at this anymore so now it will be forever in the back of your mind. So here we go.

You Failed At Garrison's If...

  • You figured you had more time
  • Your entire game time was spent inside them
  • You never finished the Garrison Campaign
  • You never took advantage of the resources
  • You didn't turn in the rest of your workorders
  • You forgot to exchange all your mats for gold
  • You didn't make your mission table part of your routine
  • You never got any monuments
  • You had a gathering profession
  • You didn't get your jukebox toy
  • You made a plan to rely on them in the future
  • You are ever going to have gold problems

And Finally

  • You don't want to burn it to the ground

There you have it this week's edition of fail. Hopefully you are not in this boat.

Epic Mount

Monday, yes it is here so you will just have to live with it. With the Legion pre-expansion patch on it's way soon and with Carbot Animations coming out with a new WoW Craft episode I thought it was the perfect thing to share this week. So sit back and enjoy and if you are a WoW player there is no way that you won't find the ending hilarious and true.

Wasn't I right?

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Here we are at the end of the weekend wondering how we you will get everything done in time. Before you get to all that fun stuff though it is time for me to get to some of the questions for the week. So let's get to it.

Why did they add a stupid murloc hero to Hearthstone instead of another better shaman candidate?

They will be adding a better shaman candidate in the future this is just what they are adding to promote the recruit a friend. Kind of the way that Khadgar was added when medivh was already in the game. Not that I agree with wasting Khadgar for that, but it is the same type of principle. They will be adding another hero for all the classes that you will pay for so don't worry yourself too much.

What are your thoughts on the Final Fantasy XV collectors?

Lately the collectors editions of Final Fantasy games have been lackluster. I believe they made up for it with XV. It has enough but not to the extreme that they have to charge an exorbitant amount. That really is the fine line. Gamers are willing to pay a little more for a collectors, but double or triple the price as we have seen for some in the past is a little pushing it. Also remember that collectors in the scope of the gaming world are a new thing so companies are just getting in the swing of it now.

Why no Zelda talk?

Well you just covered that didn't you?

There you have it this week's questions all answered. Thanks to everyone who sent one in if I got to it on here or not. As always this would not be possible without all of your support. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Randos Are Fun

Happy Friday! Yes the day of the week where we just end up thinking about what is going to happen in the couple days to follow. Before you get to that though should read this week's Reader Post from Scyn. He has encountered different types of players and wants to know which you think is the worst type.

So I have been playing a lot of Heroes of the Storm and have had to deal with a lot of different types of players. Not to say some of the players haven't been great and fun to play with side by side, but then there are the other players. Some of these just make the game horribly unfun to play. So I have a question which of these 3 types of players do you hate playing with?

(1)A noob is prone to making mistakes more often than not and it could cost you the game.

(2)A flamer starts the blame game and throws insults left right and center to vent his frustration, which ends up distracting everyone. People then reply to the flamer, and this can go back and forth going over everyone's mistakes/bad plays/choice of talents etc, and all this lack of focus can cost you the game.

(3)The pessimist is someone that can seemingly predict the future and voices their resolve "to give up" very early based on the situation. Such as at the start of the game if they dont like/agree with the draft or they dont like the bans, or the enemy gets first blood or you lose the 1st objective etc they'll often reply "gg its lost". They would also say premature things like "Let them end/finish", "can i afk please?, this is pointless". They dont flame anyone per se but the defeatist attitude often causes a deep loss in morale and can cost you the game.

Well honestly I hate playing with all of them. What do you all think? Something to think about for the weekend I guess

Silenced

So it is Thursday. So I really should be finding something to go off about. Actually it is something that has been on my mind for a couple days. For those who are not aware, Blizzard is introducing something know as the silence penalty in World of Warcraft. It is as follows

Following the Legion pre-expansion, any player who is reported multiple times under the Spam or Abusive Chat categories will, after investigation, receive an account-wide silence penalty. While this penalty is active, the silenced player will find that their ability to chat with others is greatly limited.

If you would like to read the specifics and the whole article you can by clicking here

So what does this mean for Pi? As you can assume I am being asked. Well for those that don't know I have been using Pi for years to moderate trade chat when people have asked for it. I oblige as to not spam. Now that has never stopped people from reporting me for spam or any such thing. Does leave me to wonder if I would qualify for something like this though. Since I know reporting for such an act will happen. I am sure any real investigation and a non bot oriented one wouldn't have nay problems. I guess we won't know though until it happens.

Hopefully Pi will be forever an item that will be part of trade. I don't know if the Horde of Llane would ever be the same without it.

No Matter What The Cost Or How Terrified

Well it is Wednesday and you are all here looking for a list. Unless you ended up here by mistake, but then you will still be here for a list. So what list then? Well I thought how have I not done a list of the best siblings in the gaming world, and I really couldn't find an answer. So that is why we are here.

5. Bub and Bob - Bubble Bobble Series

These two dragon brothers got us hooked on bubbles back in the 80s and are still doing their thing today. They really paved the way for the non-plumbing  duos

4. Cassandra and Sophitia - Soul Calibur Series

There are a few fighting games worth mentioning in terms of sisters, but none of them have the back story as much as these too.

3. Giana Sisters - Giana Sisters Series

Started out as a controversy because of how close the game was to a certain pair of brothers. Over the years have grown as their own and deserving spot on this list.

2. Bill and Lance - Contra

Contra really may be the first true co-op game. It changed the gaming world and it really is due to these two brothers doing their thing.

1. Mario and Luigui - Super Mario Brothers Series

If you thought this wasn't going to be number one then I would think you really don't know gaming that well. I don't think there is anyone else close in terms of siblings and recognizably. If you do, well then who?

There you have it, this week's list. As always think I am wrong or have something to say have plenty of ways to do so.

You Fail At Being Ready For Legion Pre-Patch If...

Fail Day! Yes it is Tuesday already, and all WoW fans are waiting for the highly anticipated expansion of Legion. What all WoW followers know though is before an expansion there is always a pre-expansion patch which sets you up for the expansion. So let's see how you could fail at it shall we?

You Fail At Being Ready For Legion Pre-Patch If...

  • You have not pre downloaded it
  • You believe all your addons will work correctly
  • You don't know how some people are able to play demon hunters
  • You haven't looked into the Broker Shore invasions
  • You have no clue who the Burning Legion is
  • You have decided not to look into your class changes
  • You have no worries because your garrison gold will still be rolling in
  • You are not excited about the revamped transmog system
  • You are still working towards something in your PvP season
  • You are wondering when the plague event starts
  • You are not leveled to 100 yet for some reasons
  • You have not renewed your subscription

And Finally

  • You have no idea what I am talking about

There you have it this week's edition of fail. Hope you all aren't failing too much.

Ravager Ravenger

Monday. Yes, we all know you are not happy about it being Monday. So let's forget about that for now and focus on the positives. One of them being that Carbot has released a new Starcrafts episode. So what kind of showcase would it be without it showing off this one. Sit back forget it is Monday and enjoy!

All better now!

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Yes, it is true your weekend is coming to and end and you are in denial. Don't worry probably close to everyone reading this is feeling the exact same way. So before you get all depressed about it, why not check out the questions for the week for this week's Ask Gauss. Here we go.

So pre-Legion patch is coming will you be hoping back on WoW for it?

I will be don't know the exact date to give you all for it, but I will give you all a heads up when it is being done. I am actually pretty excited for this expansion. The lore of it at least and where everything is going. I will not be going back to raiding for anything like that, but there may be city raids and such to get your fix in some way or another. As always stay tuned for all of that.

Is it really worth while for Blizzard to sue these hackers?

I don't think they can win, but doing so along with the bans so they care what is going on in their game. Things like this getting very complicated when there is eSports involved with it. They don't want the pro scene to have unworthy players and they also don't want such players to get through the cracks. Also showing players there is a hardline to cheaters is a step in the deterrent direction of all of this. So while I don't think they can win and I believe these hackers are part of a pointless endeavor of virtual cookie collection things are going about the right way.

How is Nintendo still a good gaming company?

How is it not?

There you have it this week's questions all package up for you. As always thank you to everyone who sent something in if I answered it on here or not. This would not be possible without all of your support.

Enjoy what is left of your weekend!

Who Will Be The Big Baddie?

Friday. You know that end of the week day where we wonder what we are going to do with yourself for the weekend. While you are in the stage of deep contemplation with that you can read this week's Reader Post. This week it comes from Kazezoku and his thoughts on possible final tier possible bosses. Have a read.

Anyway, so ya... as the title suggests, what do you guys think will be the final raid boss for legion? Reply with who it is obviously and why you think its him/her based off what you have seen in the recent lore in the legion beta.

For me, I'm actually just gonna spitball here and give a few stabs in the dark:

Kil'jaeden: Mainly because the expansion is literally the word legion... not only that but i'm thinking he's probably pretty upset with Archimonde's failure, and either see's us as a potential threat since we were even able to woop archimonde's butt. That or Archimonde may have just told him how real the threat actually is, and therefore may get involved himself. Lets not forget the first time we flushed him back down the sunwell, in plateau. At any rate, they got some cool raid bosses lined up so far, and lezz be honest... a full scale Kil'jaeden with legs and everything as a raid boss would be... amazing.

Azshara: Got super hyped for the eye of Azshara when I heard about it, found out it was a dungeon and then was like... "really blizz"? But then found out she isn't actually in there herself, so that was refreshing. Naga or not... she is the queen of freaking night elves back in the day 10k years ago... there is gonna be some hefty power that comes along with her. What would be epic is if she is at least in a raid, even if she isnt the main boss at the end, which leads me to my final end game boss guess...

N'zoth: So... we all know this bamf has yet to make an appearance, and is last majorly heard of after making the deal with Azshara back then to save herself and her people, to which they become naga. The finally thing he says to her was "and for what we grant you, when the time comes, you will serve us well." Not only that but if we follow the current expansion old god trend, i.e. Vanilla (C'thun), BC (nothing), Wrath (Yogg), Cata (nothing), Mists (Y'sharaj), WoD (nothing), Legion (N'zoth?).

Anyway... I'm going to leave Sargeras out of this, mainly because he is too major a figure in wow lore for me to really expect him comming over this soon. Not only that but sargeras getting involved in an expansion makes me feel like wow is on the downfall for its expansions, and they have stated that there is so far more future xpacs to come

Of course this is all speculation and hopes

There you have it something to think about for the weekend. So now you can start enjoying it.

Bossland

As much as hate to give companies free publicity this just bothers me. I have never understood why people would want to cheat in video games. No clue why that would give people satisfaction at all, but apparently I must be weird in some respect.

Blizzard is currently suing a Germany company which supplies program hacks to people for Overwatch. They have banned the players caught using these programs, but are now going for the source. They have tried to go after them before, but have been unsuccessful in their attempts. In fact the company Bossland thinks the whole situation is amusing. Can read about it on there blog here.

Now this company is obviously the worst of the worst type of thing. Games are supposed to be fun and really aren't fun when other people are cheating. This is throwing out the whole thing that cheating gets you is "points" which I guess people put on their resume. It is not like you can fake being a pro gamer. You some how don't get caught and then have to play in a controlled environment and you get owned, unless this isn't their goal. If not what could it be? To win games you didn't actually win? Yay fun.

With the company though, what is their goal? Is it to prove they can do this and not get caught? For bragging rights? I honestly don't understand their motivations for such a thing. Is that weird? Do they want some of virtual cookie for sticking it to Blizzard? If you read their blog that is honestly what I get from it. They seem like the type of people that this is all they live for, and if that is the case I am actually sad for them. Obviously they are skilled at something and truthfully they could apply their talents to something more worthwhile then collecting their virtual cookies.

Geek Is

Well the middle of the week is here and as always is the case it is time for me to make a list. What did I decide for this week's list? Well I thought I would take a look at who I think is the best gaming studio for games coming to us now. So keep that in mind when you are figuring out what you will be keyboard warrioring about to me in a few minutes.

5. Nintendo

After so many years they still make this list. Still creating games that I and many others still love to play.

4. Telltale

Games that have story and leaving you wanting to play just that little bit more. I thought I would never be happy with the episodic style of game, but I was proven wrong.

3. Rockstar

They started out controversial and maybe still are, but that doesn't stop them from putting out games that the gaming world loves to play again and again.

2. Naughty Dog

What can I say, I don't think there is a Naughty Dog game that I haven't loved to play for hours and hours. You can always expect to be wowed when you play one of their games and in this day and age that is a big deal.

1. Blizzard

Blizzard makes some of my favourite games. Not just games that I play and put away and talk about later but games you continue to play and talk about for years to come. They also never release a game that they believe is not ready and nowadays when you see games having major patches on release day.

There it is my list for the week. As always if you want to tell me why I am wrong find a way to do so.

You Fail At Difficult Bosses If...

Fail Day! Yes it is that time of the week once again. You know the time where you feel better about yourself, because others feel less of themselves for failing at something? Ahh yes, what a wonderful day. This week I decided to talk about difficult bosses. Why? Well recently have been playing the FFX-2 Remaster just to mess around. When I got to Trema and realized I couldn't use the Gunner Catnip trick to beat him. This made things much more difficult and gave me some motivation for this.

You Fail At Difficult Bosses If...

  • You always play games on easy difficulty
  • You keep trying a strat which is failing in hopes that it will some how work
  • You believe fire gives haste
  • You go through just as many controllers as you do attempts
  • You don't blame random elements when you keep dying
  • You can't feel your face getting red
  • You believe life is fair
  • You never try any optional bosses
  • You are a button masher, clicker, or keyboard turner
  • You give up and just say no-lifers do this kind of stuff
  • You don't celebrate when you finally win

And Finally

  • You just tell people you beat the boss even though you didn't do it anyway

There you have it this week's edition of Fail. Hope you all enjoyed it and all your rage will be better focused now.

Back To Vanilla

Monday and a Happy Independence Day to my American readers. So while some of us are dreading it being yet another Monday. Either way it is time for me to showcase something for the week and I have chosen something from Nixxion, actually is a new Machinima from him one that probably made me laugh more than it should have. So hope you enjoy!

Well?

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Yes it is the end of the weekend. I know it is a horrible time, not to mention this is when it also kicks in that we are having a Sunday without Game of Thrones. Before I get on with the normal Sunday question and answers you are here for, unless you are lost then welcome. For awhile people have asked me for a twitter and I have been kept putting it off. Well now I set it up and you can follow me @Gaussafication. So enjoy for all of those who have asked for it. Those who haven't well I guess it doesn't really concern you. On with the questions then.

Thoughts on the new heroes for Heroes of the Storm?

Well we all knew Gul'dan was already heading to the nexus when Medivh's trailer was released. I also kind of suspected when Legion was announced but that is beyond the point. Auriel though I have been hoping for awhile so this is great news. More heroes is always better, but adding more support for the Diablo Universe makes it even better. Not to mention the skins in the trailer were worth a second look. If you haven't had a chance to see it, here it is.

What do you think of Left 4 Dead's choice of graffiti?

If you are referring to the Jaden Smith tweets I think it really is amazing. The thing about them is really they seem completely appropriate for graffiti. So even if people didn't know about them it isn't something that could be picked out and done as an Easter Egg. I think this is the point that they are trying to make to the public and Jaden Smith himself .

Should data mining be allowed?

What would keyboard warriors complain about if it wasn't?

There you have it this week's questions all wrapped up. Thank you to everyone who sent something in if I was able to answer it on here or not. As always I will get to it so don't go into freak out mode just yet.

Enjoy the what is left of your weekend.

Happy Canada Day and Birthday Dad

Happy Canada Day! Yes it is that time of year where we celebrate the creation of this great nation. Also it happens to be my Father's Birthday. He used to try to tell us when we were younger and went to fireworks that the entire country was celebrating his birthday. For awhile we fell for it, but then grew out of it. Doesn't mean will ever let him forget it.

So you would ask what all of this has to do with gaming? I would say without my Father getting me into gaming way back then this blog would never exist. So really all of you that turn in to read this everyday should owe him a Happy Birthday of your own.

Happy Birthday Dad!
