This Is Halloween

Well tomorrow if you were not aware is the start of the Hallow's End holiday in World of Warcraft. So with that in mind I figured I would share an iconic song linked with a great machinima from Drascier. So here we go!

Now time for everyone to try and turn into a leper Gnome

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Yes your weekend is coming to a close and you are only 1 day away from the new season of Walking Dead, and that is the good Walking Dead not the one that thinks it is. So while you are waiting for that an recovering from your week it is time to see what the questions are for the week.

What Civilization are you going to start with in Civ 6?

As always I start with Rome. Why? Well in my mind they are the greatest civilization that has ever been so I am always curious as to the way they are displayed in each game. After that I try to go with who I think plays well with the style of game I want to play in my next game. That really could be anyone because it really has everything to do with how the result of the first game ended. So really don't think that answers the question at all.

What do you think about the Blizzcon announcements?

Well so far they have just been talking about the esports tournaments and the panels. Of course, they haven't given away exactly what they will be talking about on each panel because that is all about what Blizzcon is about. I really am interested in what Diablo has going on, because really I feel there should be some sort of expansion announcement and not just some patching. We can only wait and see though.

Yay for Halloween Events Starting.

Headless Horsemen is always a great time!

There you have it the questions for the week. Hope you all got something out of it, and as always if I didn't get to your question on here I will get to it eventually. So please stay patient. Again this couldn't be possible without all of your input, and I know I have been slow with responses lately so please bare with me.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

What Is In Store?

Friday, we are here and wondering how our weekends will unfold. So after we stop thinking about that we settle here and wonder what is up for this week's Reader Post. Well we haves something from Golden Yak regarding their thoughts on how the rest of the Legion expansion will play out. It is well thought out and might even come true, but you know I just love the speculation. So here it is

With 7.1 approaching which will continue the story begun in 7.0. I have some ideas about how the rest of Legion might unfold, based on speculation and tid-bits we've gotten about the future:

End of 7.0/Nighthold: Gul'dan tries to summon Sargeras's spirit and infuse it into Illidan's body in the Nighthold, turning Illidan's body into the new Avatar of Sargeras. We manage to stop it, killing Gul'dan and banishing Sargeras, but Illidan's body is lost, pulled into the Nether.

7.1: Helya is slain, breaking the curse over the Halls of Valor. Odyn and his Valarjar are freed and join the battle against the Burning Legion, who are bringing through troops in greater numbers than ever.

7.2: Azeroth's forces are barely holding against the Burning Legion, who have constructed a massive demon city on the Broken Shore around the Tomb of Sargeras. As if things weren't grim enough, a strange new land-mass suddenly rises south of the Broken Isles - Ny'alotha, ancient city of the Old Gods, where the Titanforged bound and chained the Old God N'Zoth. N'Zoth's bindings are finally failing, and the Old God is about to break free. He summons his strongest servants to Ny'alotha, including the naga, to defend him until he can break his bindings completely. The Alliance and the Horde are sent to destroy N'Zoth while the Titanforged and the Valarjar hold the line against the Legion. The forces of Azeroth suffer great casualties just reaching N'Zoth's prison, and just as N'Zoth is about to be destroyed, Azshara appears and offers an alternative - Azeroth is on the verge of being overrun by the Burning Legion, and is in desperate need of allies. Rather than destroy N'Zoth in a costly battle, Azshara suggests N'Zoth be set loose - N'Zoth agrees to turn all of his attention against the Legion and ignore Azeroth's mortals, for now. Knowing that N'Zoth wants the world to survive (if only so he can corrupt it later), Azeroth's mortals make the decision to release him - likely this will be done by someone hinted at in Il'gynoth's whispers, possibly Magni, Khadgar, Jaina, or whoever. There's candidates. N'Zoth's bindings are broken and the Old God is unfettered - true to his word, N'Zoth directs the naga and the faceless ones to assault the Burning Legion, ignoring the Alliance and the Horde. Azshara retreats.

End of Expansion: we push through the Tomb of Sargeras to Argus, meet up with the Army of Light, and destroy the place, killing Kil'jaden in the process (and Archimonde too, if he's even still alive). We come back to Azeroth, but the final battle occurs at the Tomb, with Illidan's body transformed into the new Avatar of Sargeras who attacks us there. During the encounter, Azeroth herself uses the five Pillars of Creation to transform someone (I'm guessing Jaina) into her own avatar - the Avatar of Azeroth joins us against the Possessed Illidan, driving Sargeras' soul out of Illidan's body. Sargeras' spirit then takes over his old avatar within the depths of the Tomb as one last ditch effort to attack us. Players + Azeroth's avatar battle Sargeras until Illidan's soul retakes his body and he becomes the Champion of Light. We destroy Sargeras, and Illidan goes off into the universe to gather the rest of the Army of Light and the naaru to begin preparing for the battle against the Void Lords. Meanwhile, we've got to stay behind and deal with Azshara and N'Zoth, who are missing, presumed up to no good. I figure this would be a good time for a great seas expansion or even an underworld expansion, going into the depths to try and stop N'Zoth from burrowing to the worldsoul within Azeroth.

Well? I think this could run pretty close, but as with anything the things closer to the current time are most likely to be the things that turn out to be right, but as you move further from the current point in time then most likely not to be true. With that in mind, enjoy your weekend!

Starcrafts Mod Is Live

So here we are on a Thursday, you know the day I normally rant about something in such a way that you start to feel just as passionate about it or you just sit there with your blood starting to boil and you don't know if you should start typing angry messages or play with your voodoo doll with my face on it. Well today there won't be much of that. Today we are celebrating because if you didn't know on Tuesday Carbot Animations released the Starcrafts mod.

Yes you heard that correctly you can now play Starcraft II with the adorable Carbot style animation. I must say it plays a lot better than I ever thought it would. The gameplay is smooth and you can tell the effort that went into it. Here is the opening cinematic for it.

Now the question should be what is there now for Starcrafts? It seems now it is not just Cartoons, but it is the game itself. Well, at least, the mulitplayer version of it. So that is it then! We want a Campaign version of it all. I am sure they will get right to work on it as we speak, don't worry I will be waiting!

Fires A Beam Of Magic And Wonder

Wednesday is here even though it doesn't even feel like it. So besides getting ready for the start of the NHL season today I also have a list for you. What is it about you ask? Well that is simple, it is about the most ridiculous weapons that exist in gaming. So prepare yourselves

5. Cluck Shot - Gears of War 3

So have you ever fired a chicken at someone and wondered if it would explode? Well you don't have to Gears of War 3 has your answer and it is yes. This ridiculous weapon is something that will entertain ever all those atheist vegans you know.

4. The Bane - Borderlands 2

We have a weapon that makes your movement speed come to almost a halt, but will do an insane amount of damage for you in game. That is not all though it also has the ability to destroy your eardrums oh yes the screaming that happens when you use it is just legendary in itself

3. Foam Finger - Dead Space 2

The stupid most powerful gun in existence is nothing but a foam finger. It has unlimited ammo and says bang bang over and over among other things, besides looking completely ridiculous, but let's be honest after playing the game you need something like this.

2. Cat Silencer - Postal 2

Ever thought about putting a cat on the end of your gun? Ever thought if it would work as a Silencer? Well the makers of Postal 2 thought so. Only for 10 shots though because then the kitty goes for a ride in a tremendous amount of hilarity.

1. Mr. Toots - Red Faction Armageddon

So when you thought you have seen everything you then have Mr. Toots. A unicorn who shoots rainbow lazers out of his ass. No you did not read that incorrectly this exists, and yes you are now going to look this up to see that I am not bullshitting you.

And there you have it the weirdest weapons in gaming, well at least according to me. Have a different opinion? As always let me know in one way or another.

You Fail At Having Time To Game If...

So here we are on the Tuesday after a long weekend glad that it isn't Monday, but then we also realize it is the start of the week. Now you may also realize that it is Tuesday so that means it is time for Fail Day! This week is all about not having time to game. So here goes

You Fail At Having Time To Game If...

  • You just haven't been feeling well enough
  • You haven't found a game to get into
  • You misplaced your controller
  • You have no one to play with
  • You are on a gaming "break"
  • You are preparing for an inevitable game grind
  • Your PC needs an overhaul
  • Your console died downloading a Day One Patch
  • You believe playing Xbox is "real" gaming
  • You thought you should study for those midterms
  • You have spent too much time reading reviews for games and not enough playing them
  • You had time to spend with Family this Thanksgiving
  • You are looking into a game with a deep story and they seem to be few and far between

And Finally

  • You have been busy watching the Blue Jays

There you have it this week's edition of Fail. Hope you all enjoyed it or maybe even relate to if not well then so it is.

Ask Gauss

Sunday! And first things first I know there wasn't a Reader Post on Friday. It was simply for the fact I didn't have time to go through the entries and give a good read before making the correct choice. I have been busy lately so I apologize and will get back to it next week. Now with that out of the way let's get to this week's questions.

What are your thoughts on the selling of Starcraft Skins?

Well my thoughts on it are simple. Why not? If it gets money into the game that keeps the team employed and keeping the game balanced and patched there shouldn't be an issue with it. They are cosmetic items that you don't have to buy. The game won't be balanced around them so there is no reason to freak out about it. The major thing people should be looking forward to is your mmr being based off of what race you play. Finally we will have split MMR including it for random. This is really what everyone should be talking about.

Why are you so upset about day one patches?

Well I saw that Gears of War 4 was being released with a massive day one patch for those who were buying a hard copy. And if you read any of my blogs this week you would know why. This just isn't good practice and makes the purchase of a hard copy useless. Honestly there didn't even need to be a disc in the box and it would have resulted in the same thing as those buying the digital copy. Gamers are not as upset about these things as they should be and I figured I would light a fire under some people. Hopefully that was accomplished.

So tomorrow is Turkey Day?

Well yes the one that matters.

There you have it this week's questions. Hope you all got something out of it, and to my Canadian Brothers and Sisters hope you are having a great Thanksgiving weekend, to everyone else wish a Canadian a happy Thanksgiving.

Day One Major

So as you all know there are many things that tend to piss me off gaming wise. Let me first state this post is not about Ret Pallies, Call of Duty, or Bagellord. What is it about then? Well that is quite simple it is about Day One Major Patches. First off for those of you who don't know a day one major patch is when if you happen to get a hard copy of a game then you have to spend time downloading the entire game because of 1 of two reasons

  1. Game was made into hard copies way too early
  2. Game was so buggy and awful they had to change way too much
In either case this is completely unacceptable. Learn how to develop a game and release it correctly. This is especially inexcusable if the release of the game is pushed back, because you know that means that it is both 1 and 2 at the same time. As a gamer you shouldn't accept these as being acceptable. Basically when you get a hard copy you shouldn't have anything, but a minor patch. These means the game is polished and really there might have been a few minor glitches and bugs that made it through the final cut. Final cut is the major point here. If you aren't going to make hard copies worth anything worth a damn then don't let the public buy them. There is nothing worse then getting a game taking it home especially when you are not aware of it and cannot play it right away because you have this massive patch to download to make it viable. Not to mention you may have paid extra for a hard copy that really isn't a hard copy of the game itself.

Now we as gamers can change this. Be vocal when companies do these things. This isn't something which is an ethical business practice and should not be allow to be a thing. Not to mention I am trying to think of a game that had a major day one patch that was actually well received in the long run. If so let me know for now I am just going to be angry.

Kweh

Here we are on yet another Wednesday waiting for another list to see what is going to be on the list. Well what is it? Well everyone knows games have plenty of unlockable characters, but what about the ones that are just out of this world? Well that is what this list is all about.

5. The Hand - Tony Hawk Underground 2

Yes you can play as a severed hand as if you are playing with a mini board in this game, and yes it is awesome.

4. Tofu Survivor - Resident Evil 2

So something which has always bugged people. Will infected people eat tofu? Well according to Resident Evil 2 the answer is yes. You can play the game as a giant piece of tofu once unlocked.

3. Yoda - Soul Calibur IV

So this may not be completely weird, but then the concept doesn't make sense in the least. Since by definition his lightsaber should cut right through all the others swords. Not to mention every grapple in the game doesn't work kinda of makes yoda OP and weird.

2. The Clintons - NBA Jam

When you thought it couldn't get any weirder and then this happened. Where you can dunk with the best of them as the Clintons. Yes it happened and everyone is still amazed by it.

1. Everything - Tobal 2

So it is a fighting game that pretty much allows you to fight as everything you came across. And honestly I am not joking.

Well what do you think? Is there any weird ones I missed? As always let me know in one way or another.

You Fail At Releasing Games If...

So it is Tuesday, and as you all know and are for, it is Fail Day. So it is time to poke fun normally at Gamers for things. Well today we are going after the developers because they fail a lot too. So why don't we just get to it.

You Fail At Releasing Games If...
  • You never come up with a release date
  • You are the developers of Half-Life 3
  • You cave to your pushy community
  • You ever worked on Duke Nukem Forever
  • Your servers didn't work day one
  • You think a world wide release will go off flawlessly
  • You are trying to be fair to all players involved
  • You don't have a digital copy of the game
  • You have a patch every day for the first week
  • You made promises you couldn't keep
  • You are being looked into by the UK advertising board
  • You have 90% of people returning your game week one

And Finally
  • You think downloading a 55G first day patch is fair

There you have it this week's edition of fail. Hope you all enjoyed it and got something out of it in some way or another. You now have my permission to go back to whatever you are doing.

Epic NPC Man

Monday, yes it is here and none of us are ready to start the week. Not to mention if you are like me you cannot even believe that it is October already. With that in mind this week I was catching up on Epic NPC Man and realize that I have never shared any of the episodes with you all. I know most of you know Viva La Dirt League from there Starcraft parody song days, but they are still going strong now. With that in mind I am not responsible if you watch the entire series.

Well?

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Yes, we are here at the end of your weekend and while you may be excited that Fear the Walking Dead will finally be over it does mean that you wasted your weekend. It also does mean that I get to go through the questions sent to me throughout the week and answer some of them.

So Diablo questions. Is there big news coming at Blizzcon do you think?

I will say that over the last little bit. Diablo hasn't got much of the attention compared to the other Blizzard IPs out there. Now that could very well be because currently it is the oldest of the games they currently have out. People tend to forget that. Now this doesn't mean that Blizzard is "letting Diablo Die" as the forums would lead you to believe. I do though think we will get a major announcement regarding Diablo come Blizzcon. I have a feeling especially with the recent announcement of Eras it will be an expansion and not a completely new Diablo 4. No one knows for sure though until we are there.

Do you think Civilization VI will be good enough?

Enough for what? To sell? Yes, Civilization is one of the more popular IPs out there. The game could be the exact game with simple changes and will always sell. The games are always enjoyable to play through because they are different each and every game. I know it will never catch on with the more active gamer and one that doesn't enjoy the "thought" process, but it is will always be like that. It will never be the most popular game, but those who enjoy it will love it and that is really all the developers can ask for.

A Hearthstone Region locked hero is fair then?

It is cosmetic you will live.

There they are questions all answered for the week. Hopefully you got something out of them in some way or another. As always thank you to everyone who sent something in some way or another this would not be possible without you. Now you can enjoy the rest of your weekend.
