Let Them Come

So just under a week from now we will be getting ready to step into World of Warcraft's newest expansion Legion. Before it we have had 5 other expansion to the game so why not for a list rank my thoughts on the expansions of the game thus far

5. Warlords of Draenor

I think for the most part this is where everyone will have this expansion. It is not that it was bad it was the fact that the expansion as a whole lacked depth. Also the Garrison while seemed like a great idea at the time really didn't turn out what everyone wanted it to be. Now as for positives the initial questing leveling experience was probably the best they have ever done.

4. The Burning Crusade

Now this ranking might surprise people. Now if WoD was the best leveling up experience Burning Crusade was definitely the worst. Everything was so far from everything else and Blizzard had not yet realized that splitting up the factions would be a good thing. We also had heroics entry based upon reputation which really was a poor way of gating them to the ilvl system that is in place today. Raiding was great if you were in a good guild if you weren't then you were then useless and ran Karazhan exclusively.

3. Cataclysm

An expansion that gets a lot of flack because of the 1-60 revamp that was a major part of the expansion that not a lot of people ever did. The lore of the expansion built on the good that Wrath had started. At launch the heroics were too difficult to what Wrath players were used to, but that was later fixed. Raiding started on the same curve and because of it we saw the LFR added to the game, along with major pillars of Void Storage and Transmog something we wouldn't be able to do without.

2. Mists of Pandaria

With Mists we saw the lore take a new shape in the game and how we were apart of it. Phasing became a much bigger aspect to the game then it ever was and the game was made for all types of players. Something that was needed for a long time rather than trying to make everyone happy at once.

1. Wrath of the Lich King

The expansion which brought many of the features that have made the game as popular as it was. It was also the expansion that made things easier for the everyday player while still giving a challenge to the more experienced player something that was asked for since the extreme difficulty of BC. It really isn't a doubt that this besides being the best received expansion was the most popular time of the game itself.

There you have it my ranking of WoW expansions. What is your ranking? As always let me know what you think in one way or another.

Is This The End?

It is Friday well in case you didn't know. Now any WoW fan knows 6.2 is all around and the Hellfire Citadel is all up and running. Also you may or may not know that it appears the "ending" to Warlords is all around. Now if you are worried about spoilers I know ignore today's post, but Jokubas has a theory how the cinematic should have gone down for this week's Reader Post so have a look.

Archimonde wins. We were not prepared to fight Archimonde, we should not have killed him

He brings down those meteors to destroy Draenor. The cutscene is not a celebration, but an evacuation. The heroes realize they cannot win, only mitigate their losses. Gul'dan, meanwhile, knows he will not survive the meteor impact either and panics. Archimonde prevents him from escaping and talks about the pact, which is the last thing we see as we escape. There's a bittersweet reflection as the escape portal forcibly shuts behind us. After going to black, it returns to show Gul'dan in the Nether, with Kil'jaeden or some other voice hinting at the plans he has for Gul'dan and presumably our timeline. End cutscene.

The cutscene we got implies Draenor isn't going to be seen again, and just kept around in case they want to use those characters again, so they don't really need it. If they actually destroyed Draenor, we'd actually have a reason to fear what might be coming next, and with the Gul'dan stinger, it would actually feel like a proper cliffhanger, instead of just being told it is.

And just to be clear when I say Archimonde should have won, I think one of the biggest problems with Warcraft's story since World of Warcraft isn't that the heroes always win, it's that each plot follows the same arc, and the endings just follow off of it. New villain reveals themselves, we fight to their lair, we kill them. Mists of Pandaria is the only real exception, and I think that was both good and bad. Bad because, in order to roll out the rebellion and Garrosh's threat, the leveling experience had to be almost entirely filler. Good because the overarching plot felt like a continuation and a conclusion to the war started in Cataclysm, not just a march to a villain. Outside of that expansion though, the closest thing to a real complication we've gotten was the Wrath Gate way back in the day, but that barely felt like one because it was obvious we weren't going to beat Arthas at his back door before touching Icecrown. Warlords of Draenor tries to do this with the Iron Horde->Fel Horde switch, but we would have gone to Tanaan and took down the last villain there regardless, so it didn't feel like a shift. I'm not saying the villains need to successfully cause an apocalypse or roll the die on a few characters to kill off, that tends to be handled poorly as well, but the path to defeating them should not be linear, and it shouldn't always literally involve defeating a villain. Like in my example, I think it's totally fine if we never fully resolve what Archimonde does in an alternate universe as long as we resolve whatever comes as a consequence of it for us.

Warcraft III was not a linear march from Lordaeron to Archimonde's house. It was an ever-growing story that started small and grew more complex, introducing new threats and complications over time. It was obvious relatively early that Archimonde was the main villain, but that didn't make everything between then and the ending feel like filler. There was the Scourge, then the Legion. There were actually plot relevant and logical skirmishes between the factions. The faction conflict was resolved, the Scourge would end up betraying the Legion in the expansion, and ultimately the Legion would be defeated on our doorstep, not theirs.

I was hoping this would be the first multi-expansion plot, because I think we could really use a threat that is more complex than just getting to the villain's lair. If that happens though, this cutscene just does not sell it.

So what do you think? I am still digesting everything but feel free to speak your mind.

Enjoy your weekend!

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Yes here we are at the end of the weekend and getting closer and closer to Christmas with each passing day. I am still not ready but hoping to be ready eventually. Before I get on with the shopping I need to finish up though I need to answer some questions for the week so here we go.

Did you or do you plan on buying any Goblins vs Gnomes packs?

I haven't as of yet. As with every free to play game if I enjoy the game and will be playing it I spend on that game what I would spend if the game was being sold. So in this case I will spend $40-50 on card packs and then be done with it. All of my saved up gold will be used for arena runs and then that will be it. I feel it is important to actually be one of the "spenders" since if I am enjoying a game like Hearthstone so much I feel like I should give back. Also the cards themselves will be a Christmas gift to myself.

Do you think they are killing off too many major characters in WoD?

Not really. You have to remember they are trying to build a story and really most of the "killed" characters are already dead in our timeline they just want to make it less confusing for the most part and letting those who weren't part of their deaths in the first place to have a chance to see the epicness with it. The one I am surprised to be killed off so fast though is Ner'zhul. Garrosh you had to think something was coming but Ner'zhul has been in on all the artwork from the very start

Are you taking a holiday break?

I am taking one, but no worries I will say when so people don't think I am dead.

There they are. Questions all done for the week. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and your continued preparation for Christmas

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Also the last day of November so you really have to start think about Christmas fast approaching. There has been more questions sent in this week then I ever remember not sure why exactly, but I think it has something to do with the insane amount of great games out currently. So why don't we just get right to it.

Are you interested in the Game of Thrones game?

Why yes! I am actually a huge Game of Thrones fan, which probably doesn't surprise any of you since I enjoy the fantasy style of game so much. I am also a huge fan of the Walking Dead game series and I really think Telltale will do the series justice. I also like how it will go well and blend in nicely with the show. So parts that the show can not get into in the 10 episodes the game will have some extras just for that. I think this also makes perfect sense in the episode style that the Telltale has really made their own. So in my eyes cannot come out soon enough.

Do you find they are killing too many people off in Warlords?

Truthfully? No. Remember some of the characters they have killed off have good reason too. I won't go into specifics as to not be spoilerish but if you have seen them die then you know what I mean. Also you have to think of having double characters in both timelines. There is minimal doubles in existence and really off the top of my head only 1 "true" double comes to mind. At this moment as I have said before there is nothing bad I have to say about Warlords. It really is odd as I always find things to complain about.

Why didn't you do a not my turkey day post?

Well I wasn't trying to raid on Thursday didn't really apply,

There you have it questions all answered for the week. Thanks to everyone who sent something in I will try my best to get to all of them in a reasonable amount of time. Enjoy the remainder of your weekend!

Whose Fault?

Friday! All this weke veryone has been asking me or telling me their opinions on the whole Garrosh thing. Now this is a Reader Post, but keep in mind there are spoilers ahead so you really should stop reading if you are worried about Nagrand being spoiled. With all of that taken care of here is Wolf's thoughts on Garrosh and Thrall.

I see people blaming this on both Garrosh and Thrall, but, why don't we look at all the facts? Garrosh became Thrall's close friend when they met in Nagrand and Thrall was like a father to him, since Grom was never around. Then, when Thrall left to save the world he left Garrosh in charge, even though Garrosh thought he'd be terrible, Thrall had faith in him. Then, shit went down. Innocent druids were murdered by Twilight's Hammer orcs, and Cairne, who had no idea it was the TH, challenged Garrosh, who thought he was simply disagreeing with how he was leading the Horde. And, well I think we know what happened there. Sylvannas completely ignored Garrosh's orders not to use the plague on Gilneans, which made him seem even worse of a leader. Vol'Jin then turned on Garrosh after things got really bad, even after Thrall, who didn't come back even after everyone told him he made a terrible decision making Garrosh warchief, promised he would help him.

Now, here's my theory, Thrall was never given the full story. Think about it, Sylvannas was using an outlawed weapon, despite DIRECT orders from the warchief not to do so. Vol'Jin insulted the Hellscream family, with both Grom and Garrosh being very close friends to Thrall, Baine's father was killed dishonorably, even though he knew Garrosh was not to blame, he most likely had some sort of disdain for him. Do you think they would tell the full story? That they would openly tell Thrall that they had such hate and disrespect for Hellscream? No, they needed a scapegoat because the Horde was falling apart, and a new warchief was the perfect choice.

My theory is that Thrall simply believed that Garrosh needed some more time adjusting to the new position, hence why he didn't come back until after his wedding on Hyjal (And yes, I realize there's some blame on him for taking the time to do this but, considering he just saved the world I think the last thing he wanted to deal with was politics). That the leaders of the Horde pinned their poor decisions on Garrosh, and Thrall was never told the truth, hence him saying "You failed the Horde" and "You chose your own destiny." So, Thrall didn't fail Garrosh or the Horde, and Garrosh didn't fail Thrall or the Horde, the Horde failed Thrall and Garrosh.

Once again thank you to everyone who send something in. I always enjoy reading the submissions, and as you know none of this would be possible without them. Lastly if you haven't seen it, and want to see what it is all about here it is.

Have a good weekend.

Ask Gauss

Here we are the end of the weekend is coming and we can all be glad we don't live in Buffalo. Unless you do live in Buffalo then I am sorry. All kidding aside it is Sunday and we have some questions to answer so let's get right to it.

So WoW is back to over 10 Million subscribers, what do you think?

Well it might even be closer to 11 since I believe that was done on the 13 and it didn't launch in Asia the same day. I could be wrong though. Regardless jumping 3 million subs for the expansion is quite amazing. Now from playing the expansion and how well it has been put together I am not surprised. It has been a great experience thus far and it has that sort of comeback feeling to the older Warcraft fan that they just have to see what is going on. Now I am interested to see in how it holds the numbers, but only time will tell with that.

Did you hear Unity has been denounced in France?

Now if you are talking about a certain article. Which you can read by clicking here. It is far from being denounced by an entire country. It was one person who does have some issues about the way certain people within the revolution are portrayed in the game. Like any game people can have their opinion but from playing the actual game and reading his comments I tend to think he really didn't play the game and is just reacting in some way to get some sort of publicity. Maybe I am wrong though and if I am be sure to let me know.

How is Inquisition?

Great so far. Will be more on it to come from me for sure though!

There they are the questions for the week. Thanks to everyone who sent something in as always this would not be possible without all of you taking part in it. Keep sending those questions in and answered on here or not I will get to them. Enjoy what is left of your weekend!

There Is Still No Flying In Draenor

So I know I have talked about this before but I never really allowed a Reader Post on the subject. I have always thought during the leveling process you see more of the world created when flying isn't a factor. When you can enjoy the environments and just be part of everything. When flying is involved because of the speed at which you can travel leveling becomes so much more about efficiency, So with all of that in mind here is this week's post submitted by Rawri

Recently I read a forum post regarding the touchy subject of flying vs no flying in Draenor. The poster was pro flight. Their argument is that it amounts to taking away the choice of flight for pro-flight players the way things are, where if flight were allowed, everyone would have a choice. While this is true, as an anti flight proponent, let me say I don't want flight to be a choice. It's not because I would feel forced to fly to remain competitive if given the option. It's because I play on a pvp server. Imagine flying mounts inside a bg. Not a pretty sight right? It would in fact, ruin the content. Not just trivialize, but ruin it. I'm not the best at pvp. And I've been ganked by better players who surpassed me with better skill, gear, or a situational advantage. But I still like that the combat happens, even if I lose, I learn a little. Typical world pvp encounters usually begin and end with flying mounts anymore. One player, in flight, is able to scope out their opponents completely before deciding if they want to engage. Everyone is a rogue, everyone can choose their fights. If you no longer want to fight, it's pretty easy to get away. Ever been right at the end of a challenging battle, only to find yourself ganked? Yes you have, assuming you play on a pvp server. Did you want revenge? Did you know you could pay them back if you got the chance? How many times have you gotten that chance after the addition of flying mounts? It's like being punched in the mouth and then being told your assailant has called time out.

My example has been largely pvp centric. But what I'm getting at is consequence, and interaction between players, and interacting with their environment isn't nearly as good as it was before it was introduced. Up until now that is. Warlords put some more war back into warcraft, and part of that comes from removing those flying mounts. When would I like to see flying in Draenor? maybe the final major content patch, or after the next expansion.

And with that enjoy your weekend!

Gamer Problems

Right now I am having some a a slight problem gaming wise. I can't remember the last time I had some many games all new that I just want to play. Sure there is times when one game is out and then another the next week, but right now is something else entirely. Now I know most of you will say well you can just play them all at once. I could do that, but that is not really my style. When I get a game I always want to play it want to experience it and want it really be the game I am into at that moment.

I think everyone is that way. You have the game you open it you look at the book you will probably never look at again while something is installing or loading and wondering who in the hell ever reads this book. Then you come to the conclusion that they are only ever read in this exact moment you are reading it.

Having that is just part of the gaming experience it is what makes it what it is. There really is nothing like a new game, and really only gamers understand when you say there is nothing like it. Getting multiple games at one time makes things confusing. There is overlap and insanity ensues and you really are overwhelmed and have no idea what to do.

Right now I have Warlords, Assassin's Creed Unity, Heroes of the Storm, FarCry 4, and Dragon Age Inquisition all wanting their piece of the pie. I have actually sat there during a time I set aside for gaming doing nothing because I have no clue what I should be doing. It really is madness to the next level.

I know I should just pick one stick with it till it is completed then go from there. Then keep a rotation going, and this will probably eventually happen, but it doesn't make this time any easier. Gamer problems how horrible.

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Yes it is here and that means the weekend is almost over. It has been a crazy week so far hasn't it? If you were like me you did a lot of gaming the past week and actually had a pretty damn good time with it. With that in mind seems like the perfect opportunity to do today's duty and answer some questions.

Did you stay up for the Warlords launch?

You know originally I didn't have plans to do so, then but I thought why not. I was glad I did also. Now I didn't go completely sleep deprived but I did plan for 5 hours into the morning when I might have actually been getting up. There was a lot of others there too, but I really like how the starting zone was designed and really gave you the sense that everyone wasn't massed together. Besides the point where the garrison quest was glitched for about an hour everything was smooth. So as far as day 1s go it was a pretty good day.

Are you not doing an Assassin's Creed Unity Review?

I am this week has just been so busy with Assassin's Creed and Warlords releasing I wanted to get content for both of them out. No worries I will post as per the normal the non spoiler review first and let you exactly know what I am thinking about the game. As a quick review I really like the game and the story is progressing nicely, but I am near the start and just doing the collections as first as I like to get that out of the way and enjoy the story in bunches.

Funny how you get into Heroes of the Storm when you have other things to play.

You know I was thinking this exactly.

There you have it questions all answered for the week. Hope your gaming week was as good as my own. Enjoy what is left of your weekend everyone!

Happy Leveling

Well for those of you who don't know Warlords of Draenor launched today. As you are reading this I am in all likelihood leveling up or taking a nap in preparation for more leveling. I have always enjoyed leveling up in each expansion in a multitude of ways. All of them have had there own unique moments, which I will always tell anyone when looking back on specific times throughout WoWs history. I will though on this day share my favourite day 1 story with all of you.

It was Cataclysm launch day. This was the first launch day which the launch time was 3am for those of us in the eastern time zone. I of course planned to stay up and get ahead of the leveling curve. I was leveling up with Safiree and we started in Hyjal. This was her first "real" expansion leveling experience, and I say that because the way I level on day 1 is probably not the norm, Sure I love to enjoy the zone and want to know the quests and the questlines, but I am still in go go go mode.

We are going through the zone fine getting ahead of everyone when I believe it was around 7am and Safiree asked me if when were going to sleep. I said "no" we have to keep leveling when she assumed I was joking. This went on for about an hour and she was asking me what seemed every 5 minutes and she got to the point where she couldn't actually continue and her was walking into trees and flying into cliffs. Yes this was actually happening. It was quite amusing to me not so much to her. I told her she could sleep for a couple hours and then we would get back to it.

She did end up sleeping for about 4 hours until the "leveling nazi" made her come to and level some more. I know she appreciated my craziness in the long run and it caused the day itself to be full of some amazingly hilarious moments which I will always remember. Silly deaths due to exhaustion or being in a frame of mind where you were actually unable to read the quests. Even the moment when my Shadowmourne was replaced.

This was the only time I level day 1 in a party and sure it might have been slightly lower because sometimes slackers have to sleep, but it was pretty awesome as well. So I would say no matter how you choose to level enjoy it in your own way and make sure it is something you can remember and tell stories about later on.

You Fail At This Week If...

Fail Day! Not just nay fail day but a Fail day that sees an epic week of gaming ahead! You didn't know? Well that hints towards the point that you fail don't you then? That is why it was so easy to come up with this week's Fail Day topic. so here it goes!

You Fail At This Week If...

  • You didn't know the Iron Horde is coming
  • You didn't know today is the release date for Assassin's Creed Unity
  • You don't know the name Arno
  • You will not be up and ready to log into Warlords on Launch day
  • You aren't excited to see revolutionary Paris in all its glory
  • You are not excited to step foot on Draenor
  • You are not intrigued how Unity's multiplayer plays
  • You haven't thought about what is going to happen in your garrison
  • You are not in the least bit interested in seeing the Unity next gen expierence
  • You aren't getting your bro-fist ready for Durotan
  • You won't have family this week wondering where you have been
  • You haven't stalked up on gaming food

and finally

  • You don't plan on gaming at all this week

There it is this week's edition of Fail all wrapped up for you. Are you ready for this week?

Sunday, November 2, 2014

Ask Gauss

Here we are the first Sunday in November and the day we got an extra hour of sleep. Well that is if where you live does the whole daylight savings time thing. If not then it is just the first Sunday in November. This Sunday really isn't much different than most we still answer some questions.

Less than 2 weeks till Warlords. Has excited set in yet?

I have been pretty pumped for it since they released the cinematic. It just made the whole thing seem so close and that was back in August. I am excited to see where the story is going and how I will progress through it. Interacting with characters and places you never thought you would see again really is going to be something else. Especially for lore buffs like myself. So bring it.

What are your thoughts on Beyond Earth?

Now being a fan of the Civilization games I was excited for this. Now it looks amazing and it plays like a civilization game, which is a good thing. One thing though which I always thought has been great about the Civ games was how you were taking a part of history and being part of it. This doesn't have that as this is futuristic. Now that is not a completely bad thing but it is just different. I will say this game has a much higher learning curve than previous Civ games because you can do everything the tech trees are also unknown to you because the worlds themselves are. It takes a few games to get used to the feel and how to play it. I think I will have a more extensive review after I have played it more.

Blizzcon this week.

Thank you captain obvious!

There you have it some questions answered for the week. Thanks to everyone who sent one in and hopefully my responses are somewhat helpful. Enjoy what is left of your weekend!

You Fail At Being Ready For The Pre-WoD Patch If...

Happy Fail Day and Patch Day as well! Normally those go hand in hand and I suspect this will be no different. There should be plenty of things people will have no idea about along with many things people believe they will know everything about, or then those people looking around trying to follow the flow of people. With that in mind let's get this started.

You Fail At Being Ready For The Pre-WoD Patch If...
  • You have no idea what I am talking about
  • You are excited about building your garrison
  • You are wondering if all your addons will still work
  • Your computer could barely run the game before
  • You are curious why the dark portal is now red
  • You are asking questions Vol'jin as Warchief
  • You don't like the new character models
  • You are not ready for the stat squish
  • You are wondering why everyone is heading to Blackrock Mountain
  • You can't wait to say hello to Thrall's father
  • You are adamant about this patch not coming out till Nov 13th
  • You are worried about your raiding schedule
  • You think your raiding schedule matters

and finally
  • You didn't start your download before today

There it is this week's edition of fail. Happy Patch Day!

Ask Gauss

Here we are on Sunday and getting ready for my second of third Thanksgiving meals. Turkey comma may set in tonight, but only time will tell I guess. Before that does happen I figured I would fulfill my Sunday obligation and answer some questions.

So pre-Warlords Patch this Tuesday, will we see you on?

Yes! I will probably resub Tuesday and take part in all the happy fun times. If you see me online as always drop me a line. Will be on Llane as always come say hello, and if I don't answer you know the drill keep it up until you get through. I am actually really looking forward to everything for the first time in awhile this is an expansion I am really excited for game and lore wise. Should be lots of fun ahead and this is just pre-expansion stuff.

Who is the nest Hero you want to see in Heroes of the Storm?

I would love to see some more Starcraft and Diablo heroes in the game. If I had to pick one I would go will Fenix to make an appearance. I also would not care if it was in regular combat or dragoon form. The character himself is a fan favourite of the older fanbase of the universe and really would give the newer audience something to get them into the past of the franchise. There is, of course, countless heroes I would love to see be apart of the game and I am sure eventually they will all make there way in this is just one I am hoping makes it way in sooner rather than later.

What is Ner'Zul up to in WoD?

Having tea in a hut somewhere I suppose

There you have questions all answered for the week. For those who sent something in and didn't get it answered as always I will get to it, and I thank you for your patience. Enjoy what is left of your weekend if it is a long one or not for you.

Beta Is Beta

So here we are on yet another Monday, which means besides random complaining it is time for me to showcase something for you to start of your week. This week I bring you a Machinima created by Mooclucking called Beta is Beta. Basically if you have ever been in a Beta test of any game you will find this machinima rather enjoyable. It pokes fun at all the those things wihc never make it into a real game unless, of course, it is made by EA. If you have never had the opportuinity to play a game while it is in Beta just think about this video and wonder if you really still want to play a game which is in beta.

So what do you think?

You Fail At Pre-Warlords Of Draenor Lore If...

Fail Day! Yes it is already Tuesday. It is weird how people aren't not weird about it already being Tuesday, but if Monday or Friday comes out of no where it is an extremely big deal. Oh well it was just a random thought time to focus up. Recently I have been receiving a lot of questions and have taken part in a lot of Warcraft Lore discussions regarding Warlords of Draenor and the Lore leading up to it. So why not answer some of those questions while also making it a Fail Day at the same time! So here goes!

You Fail At Pre-Warlords of Draenor Lore If...

  • You don't know what Draenor is
  • You thought you killed Garrosh in Siege of Orgrimmar
  • You haven't been watching the Lords of War Series
  • You are not sure why all the orcs in the trailer are brown skinned
  • You don't know the name of the Pitlord in the trailer
  • You are still confused how all these people who died are alive
  • You don't know how Garrosh escaped prison
  • You have issues with time travel
  • You are not confused as everyone else with Velen's lack of a heads up to what is happening
  • You think Kilrogg is just a reference to a warlock ability
  • You always thought Kargath was just a random Horde hangout in the Badlands
  • You keep asking why the Dark Portal changed colour
  • You aren't asking yourself the Sargeras question

and finally

  • You still have no idea who Grommash Hellscream is

There it is this week's fail all rolled up and done so nicely. Maybe yo got some answers, or maybe you were slightly insulted. Either way my mission is complete!

Timelords of Draenor

Happy Monday Everyone! I know most if not all of you are not in the best of moods because it is just that a Monday, and those of you that aren't are probably already on Tuesday reading this. I figured just as I do every Monday that the best thing to do is not expect too much from anyone and give them something to watch for their viewing pleasure. This week I have something not only for WoW fans, but something with a Doctor Who twist thanks to Scott Leyes and I hope you all enjoy it.

I know you don't have to thank me.

Release The Names!

So if you haven't heard Blizzard is finally doing something many believe should have been done for quite some time now. What is it you may ask? Well characters who have not been logged on World of Warcraft since November 13th 2008 will run the risk of losing their name. Say what? It means if you or anyone has a character who has not logged in since that date someone creating a new character or using a paid name change will have the option to use that name. Yes I know this is pretty big news.

If you want the official news release you can read it here

Now I for one am all for this announcement. You see for years now it has been a running joke that it is not only near impossible to name your characters anything close to what you want. There has been videos even joking at the matter posting gibberish and some how some way someone has the name. This process has resulted in the popularity of using unique spellings and special characters to have some semblance of the name you wanted.

My only argument to this is 6 years seems like a very long time I would have gone with 2010, but will actually see how this works itself out. Now I now some people are thinking as they always do that this is some sort of money grab. Why because they think players are going to buy a subscription to a game they haven't played in 6 years just to keep their name? I really think not. They other argument is this is going to generate a nice amount of money for Blizzard on paid name changes. Don't get me wrong, I am sure many people will use this opportunity to use the service, but in no one do I think this was Blizzard's major incentive to do this. They care about the players no matter what anyone thinks and truthfully in my mind they are doing this for the newer players who will actually not have a bad experience when creating their new characters

The Frostwolf

Here comes Monday, well actually it is already here but you my just now be accepting that it is actually the case. With Mondays comes Machinima though, well at least in the little bubble of the world I choose to live in. This week I have decided to showcase a machinima from one of my favourite makers who has not only given us things of the years to laugh at, but also given a bit of the serious side once in awhile as well. I am, of course, talking about Nixxiom. This time he brings us a story set on Draenor and deals directly with the Frostwolves themselves. So have a watch I am sure you will enjoy it just as much as I did.

Wasn't I right?
