Death of the Levitate Bug

The title says it. I don't know if all of you know what this was so let me take the time to explain. You see this was a way that could be used to climb walls and such throughout the world. You know those little spots on walls that when you run into them and then all of the sudden it seems you are walking on the wall? Well what you used to be able to do was cast levitate when you were on one of those spots and you could walk up walls. I am not kidding either. This small little glitch enabled me to stand on top of Orgrimmar, stand on top of the Ironforge AH, enter Old Ironforge, climb mountains, and visit Nat Pagle's house at the top of Elwynn Falls.

This means no more paratrooper attack on Ironforge anymore, although my rogue is still chilling up there. Also means I will have to find new ways to explore the unexplorable before flying mounts become available on Azeroth. I know some people will say it was a bug and I shouldn't have been messing around with it in the first place. Maybe they are right, but I or anyone else using it wasn't hurting anyone by doing it. So those people can be happy and I frankly don't care. This is my goodbye to something I had fun with.

Here are a few screens I took while exploring with the bug. I will miss you Levitate bug.

That is all for today. Make sure you get in your reasons for being late to raid. You have until Thursday night to get them in.

You Fail At Heroics If...

Tuesday! Everyone's favourite day of failure. Dying in my daily heroic 5 times before the first boss yesterday really made me want to finally make this the fail post. We all know the fail is strong in heroics I am sure you can relate to a lot of these.

You Fail At Heroics If...
  • You're the tank and a DPS in the party has more Health than you
  • You leave group because the other people are too geared for you
  • Your name is Wally
  • You're a DPS holy priest
  • You did less DPS than the Smite Priest
  • You enjoy doing the rock boss in Halls of Stone
  • You cannot make the jump in Old Kingdom to skip all the bosses
  • You still believe doing more bosses gets you more badges
  • You take pound in AN
  • You stand next to an exploding ghoul in ToC
  • You need gear from the heroic you're in
  • You beg for 15 minutes to do the Oculus achievements
  • You say you need an afk when in fact you are lost and don't want to admit it
  • You wait for mana every pull
  • You only heal the tank and refuse to heal anyone else
  • You whisper me asking to leave because I am being "mean"

and finally

  • You are from the server Ragnaros

That is it for this week. Hope you enjoyed it and I wish you luck with all your drops this Free Loot Tuesday.

Gauss' Epic Quotes

So I know raid leaders always have the things they say, when shit goes bad or goes well. You know you say things people will either laugh at for hours or people will scratch their heads wondering what you are talking about. The worst or best part is, guess it depends on who you ask, people will never let you forget those things you said. So here are some of the ones people will never let me forget

"If you have a shitty computer turn your settings down, if you're not sure it's shitty turn them down"

"If your house was on fire would you stay inside because it gave you a haste buff? Of course not you would get the hell out of the fire."

"Who heals and who fails? Because I am sensing the fail is strong today"

"When there is AoE damage you have no friends stay the fuck away from each other"

"You see when you get that beam between you and someone else it means they want a hug, make sure they get it. They will be happy and I will be happy"

"As much as I appreciate artistic talent, writing your name with Legion Flames is not something I want to see"

"Apparently you all have no idea what teabag means, stand where his damn balls should be"

"Rez me so I have time to die again before the boss"

"Apparently Stupidity has no cooldown"

"Hug a crusher, that means die for the idiots who still haven't read about this fight"

"Apparently some people misunderstood the purpose of runaway little girl, or maybe I do. Didn't know it meant run straight at the damn thing that will make you wipe the raid."

"This boss is an idiot check, this should scare many of you"

"The Elevator boss strikes again pray we never have to fight something on elevators"

"I jump when I cleave because everyone knows cleavage is much better while jumping"

"When everyone is screaming at you and you have sparks coming out of your ass it is not because we love you"

"OH MY FUCKING GOD GO TO YOUR DBM TAB AND FIND THE FUCKING BUTTON THAT SAYS OH MY FUCKING GOD YOU'RE STANDING IN THE GREEN SHIT"

There you have it. So I get a little bothered sometimes while raiding it's all in good fun. Enjoy your last day before reset and remember to turn in your weekly.

Ask Gauss

Sunday it is. So it is the post, which gives me a reason to read my email. Just kidding I always read it even if they are "OMFG STFU" or "What the hell do you know anyway?", and by far my favourite of the week "I keyboard turn and I am not an idiot". So besides the standard hate mail quota for the week there were a few interesting things to answer so I will get to it.

How do you get people to show up at this time of year?

Well I am assuming the one who sent this also watched Lore's Weekly Marmot episode this week, and if you didn't I would suggest you watch it. If not just for the fact that I am curious to know if you think the paint colour is different behind the guitar. Anyways, attendance goes down for any guild at this time of year. This is because school is finishing out and the weather outside is getting better. People tend to want and go outside. Yes that is right the sun will not turn you to stone. You cannot expect people to spend every waking moment on this game. It leads to burnout and that is even worse for you and your guild than someone taking a day or two off. You see another reason attendance is down is because we are nearing an end to the expansion. Meaning people are getting tired of what they are doing. You can only kill a boss so many times before it becomes boring and almost like a job. To avoid this you can cut down your raids days or even end early some nights to give people a break. This way the raiders get their raid and the people who are in the rut can do something else. If this fails and you can't fill raids at all recruiting is the way to get out of it. You see even if some people have seen the content again and again there will be players who haven't and this is their time to get their shot. Many of these players for me have became staples in the guild for years so don't look over someone who looks good and might just need to get the gear a little.

So you always talk about things you have made people do, what is the best?

Well I can't really pick one but here are a couple.

Someone jokingly in trade once asked for some gold I said if you walked from Orgrimmar to Silithus I will give you the gold you wanted. Upon hearing this a guildie said "hey I would walk to Silithus for gold, I need like 1000g". This is when I came up with this brillant plan he would have to walk from Moonglade to the the instance portal in AQ40. The trick being obviously no Flight Paths or no mounts but also no running! That's right he would have to slow walk all the way there. He ended up doing it and it took him just shy of 5 hours to make it there. So because it was a guildie I actually had to give him the gold and it was quite funny checking up on him every now and then. Yay for Canthony.

The other was during Brewfest when I convinced a group of people there was a daily quest for Brewfest on top of the mountain north of North Watch. This is the place where I always tell people they can learn to speak common. It was even better when people started playing along and getting more people to go. So when they couldn't climb the mountain and started whispering me how to get up. I told them and still tried. At this point I was wondering why they believed me, because when does Blizzard make something this diffcult. When they slowly started to give up and send me hate tells it made it all worth it.

Can I have a ride on your Hog?

If I can kill you. Although I probably wouldn't tell you I was going to kill you.

So that is it for this week's questions. Next Friday's Reader Post will be about "I was late for raid because?". Should be good one.

Can I Have Some Gold?

So I haven't really bitched about this lately, which doesn't mean it isn't a problem but this idiot today just couldn't take a hint. What am I referring to you ask? Beggars. You see I don't understand first of all how someone can keep asking someone over and over again for gold. When someone says no is that your queue to find a way to better bother me? Was that I'll just open trade with you and ask? Or did you think telling me you like my gear is going to make me more likely to give you some? Sorry, but no. Why not tell me you have to respec, except the problem is you're level 12! Then there comes the times you follow me around and keep whispering me except this time you think by adding the word please you think you have a winner. If only you used this amount of effort to get your own gold, because then you could have that gold you are looking for.

Let me also point out the way not to start a conversation is "I heard you have a lot of gold". When you do this I am really not paying attention to anything you say after that. I may send you responses that make no sense, and this is because I have no idea what I was answering to. The other thing I may do is let you talk with yourself until you give up. I feel I have made my gold fairly and I can choose to spend it how I want and that is not to give it to the useless fool who can't put the time in.

At least RedEyELobine can make me laugh about it...

My rant is now over.

You Know I Wish

So this is a little bit different reader post. Many people have asked that I give people a chance to not only talk about how they have encounter horrible things, laughed at people endlessly for doing stupid crap, but give them a chance to have a more serious input to the Nation. So today was that chance, where people would talk about what they wished they did differently.

Back before you could just change your race, faction, name, and anything else you can do now I had a thought. Well after learning more about the history of the game and its lore the horde is just so more interesting. I just can't bring myself to faction transferring because it seems like I am a traitor and or course I will just feel like a complete noob trying to find everything. Of course you could say I could just level a new toon, but I just put too much time into everything. Maybe one day.

I wish I wasn't such a complete idiot about my class and refused to read up and try to figure it out for myself. If I could get that message to anyone, listen to people who know more than you. You will thank them in the long run because you will improve a lot. I was dropped from 2 good guilds for sucking and not playing how I should have, because I was too proud to listen to someone else. Someone will always know more than you listen and learn and you will be better off.

Auctioneer... I have made so much gold with this the last 3 months and after all those dailies trying to get gold for my epic flying I could have used this and made it in 2-3 days. I now see why people say it is a joke to make gold in this game.

The beauty of macros I have been working with for about a year, and I have no idea how I lived without them. I always think about how much better I could have been if I used them before.

Making my own guild. It is too late now there is just too many around, and no one would ever want to join a brand new one when some are already established. I think if I was around back then and had the ambition could have made one of those guilds that stood the test of time.

That I didn't spend all my DKP on a damn weapon every expansion and then have to play catchup on everyone else! One day I will learn.

That I won the fishing contest in STV before I decided to kill all the goblins to get my title. Oh well back to turning in cloth and killing pirates like crazy.

I went on a murdering rampage in Moonglade before AQ came out, and I have never been able to recover the rep to the extend I needed before BC came out. It really sucked that when I landed at CH all the druids wanted to kill me on site.

That is it for this week. I appreciate all the submissions just sometimes don't have enough space to include everything. Enjoy your weekend maybe even turn out your lights for Earth Hour..

Ya That's Bad

So today I decided to go off on something that bugs me more than useless socket humping and doing all the bosses in Old Kingdom combined. Most people who do this don't even understand why it is so bad. They think it is perfectly ok and everyone does it. You see when you think this way this is when you have to admit you have a problem. It's like alcoholics who think it is ok to drink that bottle all by themselves at 10am. Or the addict who is searching for something to sell so they can satisfy their fix. So the question is what am I referring to? Well it is very simple. Clickers and Keyboard turners.

Now if you read this and thought here Gauss goes telling people how to play, but that is not it at all. If you were hoping around on one leg when you had two, well you would be a dumbass and I would tell you. You see there are many ways to play this just isn't one of them. Let's throw tab targeting into the mix as well. Awful don't do it. Why not throw walking backwards when something is chasing you and going to kill you. Would you do that in real life when someone is running at you with a giant axe? Of course not. So why do it in WoW, other than the fact that you are just that special kind of stupid.

Back on topic. Let's start with Clickers. You see when you click on the buttons on your action bars. You are not only wasting time by moving your mouse over to click on such and such when you could just push the damn button, which is actually pretty significant amount of time over the course of a fight. This isn't even the main problem. The problem is simple when you are moving your mouse around looking for that button to to click on you are NOT looking at the rest of your screen. Meaning you could be in fire, poison, blue crap, green shit, or don't see a giant yeti is running right at you. Now I know what you clickers are thinking, it is only for a second. That's the same line that guy said when he turn around to face the back seat to find a damn CD only to crash into the damn car ahead of him. Only for a second...

Keyboard turning. Well this is just special nothing like taking 3 seconds to turn around and run from something. Too bad it already caught up to you and you exploded wiping half the raid. Did I do that? Of course you did you moron. Your mouse is a wonderful thing you know it can turn you around instantly and you can get out of the way. It will make people happy, it will make me happy. So please lets make this right.

So everyone please help me get this message through to all those special people. Let them see the error of their ways. Who knows maybe we can have a rehab program to help these people.

I think I can breathe now, I feel much better.

You Fail At Recruiting If...

Tuesday it is! We also have a minor patch to deal with, which is supposed to reduce lag or so they say. Maybe an increase to the ICC buff, turn in my hundreds of marks of honor, and of course get myself a pretty new carpet. So when thinking what my fail post would be this week I thought about the time of year. Generally during this time of year attendance has always become a problem. Maybe it is the fact people want to go outside and do stuff more, people work more, or some other random reason. Regardless it happens so I decided to be of some help.

You Fail At Recruiting If...
  • Your star new recruit was someone who was asking in trade for a raiding guild
  • You invite someone with the name "Awesomemt" only to find out he is a mage
  • You end up with 50% of your raid being DKs, Rogues, and Warriors
  • You believed the guy when he said 71 points in frost was a solid spec
  • You recruited someone whose experience was "I have watched my friend do it"
  • You are looking on ebay
  • You recruit anyone who has any of the following in their toons name"irule", "iown", or "ipwn"
  • Your greatest raider was found in Barrens general chat
  • Your only question for applicants is "Are you ready for an invite?"
  • You are looking for a Disc priest as your new raid healer
  • You believe your recruit when he says there are no useful glyphs for "this class" with "this spec"
  • You don't know enough about your own guild to answer questions from recruits
  • You ask them to place an application on your website without realizing it has been taken over by Turkish hackers
  • You accept applicants because they are female and you feel this will be good for morale

And finally

  • You recruited a pally named "Flashheal" who is ret spec

That is it for this weeks fail. To all who do it you know how much fun it can be. To all who don't well you have no idea what you're missing. Enjoy the mini patch and your Free Loot Tuesday.

Rise To Power

Well the rise to power Machinima contest is over and there were 4 winners. All of the winners short films were quite amusing but I have to say "Dead Bugs Life" and "Welcome to the Deadmines" are by far my favourite.

Dead Bugs Life

Basically makes fun of the fact at how many times Anub'Arak dies and how the Lich King must have to keep rezzing him to keep sending him back. Also there is an appearance by everyone's favourite boss, which I know you will all find amusing. Here is the video

Welcome to the Deadmines

Is a music video where the purpose is to introduce people to the Deadmines and get ready for the heroic version of the instance. Anyone who has ever been to this instance will find this extremely amusing and anyone who hasn't well you will get to see some of what to expect when we head back in here at level 85.

Hope you enjoyed those as much as I did. MUG OF JUSTICE!!!!! As always if you have seen some machinima you think I would enjoy send it along I am always looking for good stuff to watch.

Ask Gauss

So it is Sunday time for me to go through the masses and find something you all might find interesting for me to answer. So here is what we got for this week.

How do you stay objective as a raid leader when you have friends and such in the raid?

Well this is quite challenging at times. I have to do this not only as a raid leader, but as a guild leader in general. I may think of someone as a friend, know them in real life, but I cannot treat them any differently then any member of the guild or the raid. I have to react the same way if someone makes a mistake or does something well. They need to be told what they need to do better or avoid doing. I try to build the guild for success. This means that yes there may be people in the guild I may not particularly mesh with, but if I get them to preform and listen then this is the key. Goes both ways for friends in the guild. I can't just let things go I need to show there is no favourites and act according or what happens is chaos. When it is time to mess around that's all well and good. That is an important part of this game to. Have that relaxing time. It isn't for everyone because sometimes people can't be that person who seems like a robot. As long as there is an on and off switch you're fine.

Since you are well known and all how do you tell if someone is using you or not?

Well this one I guess I am still working on. I am a guy who gives people the benefit of the doubt. Probably not always the best thing in the world, but if you burn me once I will not give you the opportunity to even come close do doing it again. This doesn't mean I don't give second chances, but what happened is always in my head. So they would be stupid to expect the same freedom and such that I may have given them before. Of course time can heal wounds, but I guess that all depends on the situation at hand. Now I hope people would give me the same benefit if I wronged them so maybe that is why I do things like this. You can always have a second chance, but you should never expect you will get anything after that.

If you could do one thing what would it be?

I would say sorry.

That is it for this week. Next weeks reader post will have a slightly different focus. Things you wish you did differently in your WoW existence. Enjoy what is left of your weekend.

Decisions

So every so often I have one of these moments where I just have to let it out and speak my mind. Today is one of those days. So as always if you are looking today for a laugh you probably won't get one today. As there probably won't be any jokes about Ret Pallys, Bagellord(where is he btw?), or Wally. This is about decisions and how we make them.

As a guild leader I am always thrown head on into the problems. Be it anything from what we will be raiding on the night and who will be in or random drama between members of the guild or people on the outside. I always have to objective and really beyond what I may want or need and look towards more what is better for the guild as a whole. At the end of the day I am normally ok with the decisions I made. I of course know I could have maybe been more vocal or been more forceful to get my points across. I of course know I am no where near perfect and take everyday as a learning experience even if we did the same thing the previous night or the previous week.

But sometimes I am torn how to decide what should be done. Like say choosing players.

The New Guy
  • Unsure what to expect but have liked what you have seen so far
  • Listens to whats said
  • No baggage with anyone in guild and without

The One You Know

  • Drives you crazy every which way possible
  • Does their thing and set in the ways
  • Knows the deal about everything no need to go through anything
  • There is history which would have to be worked through

Decisions how fun they are. You see you just want to know that regardless they are there with you. Sometimes you just need to hear it. Just like anyone wants to know they have done a good job even if they know they have. It is like giving someone congrats. You do it because you want to let that person know the deserve it.

Yes I take everything seriously and I would be lying if I said sometimes I just didn't want lay here and forget the world. Then I realize without ever doubting without even thinking I knew what I had to do all along.

Just jump in an never look back!

Mistakes are made things happen, and you have to realize that no matter what you did it is already done. If you messed up you can make up for it in the future. You can regret a decision, but you can't change it. You just have to hope those around you will allow you to prove yourself once again.

"Don't let the past and useless details choke your existence" was the fortune cookie that inspired this post. May this not only help you with your your decisions in game, but maybe yours outside as well.

This One Time I Got Banned

So it is Friday, which means it is time for your contributions. This weeks topic was about the time you or someone you know got banned and what for. There was a wide variety and many interesting and somewhat disturbing ways. So time to get on with it.

We had prearranged trading wins in WSG where people would just cap the flags and everyone else would run in the middle. This was during realm only battlegrounds so we would end up always getting matched since it was AB holiday. We were doing this for a good hour plus when all of the sudden we were all in these ice cubes almost like the modern day iceblocks. Was actually funny as hell looking at a team of iceblocks against another. We were then all told we were getting banned some of us for 3 hours some for 24. The important thing was we got to keep our honor!

About a month ago my entire raid got a 24hour ban for bugging out heroic Icehowl. It wasn't our first time doing so I assume that was the reason. You see if a hunter gets targeted with the breath and he FD then he just keeps breathing. He doesn't do more than the normal breath damage either. He just stands there like an idiot and takes a beating. So this was like our 5th time doing it on purpose so i guess we deserved the ban hammer.

I was banned for changing my graphical interface on other peoples models. Apparently you are not supposed to mess with the code of the game. I enjoyed people having on the wrong gear and me walking around with the Ashbringer

I opened a ticket with the purpose of when it was answered to try and cyber with a GM. At least I was lucky enough and it was a female GM. It was a dare and it was so stupid I just had to go ahead and do it. She was pretty creeped out and about 10 minutes after she closed the ticket I was booted off and ended up with a 3 hour ban. Totally worth it though if only I could have seen the look on her face.

We found this amazing spot by the battle masters in Ironforge where we couldn't be targeted yet could kill anything. There was tons of guards all around us but they couldn't hit us. When people came out of BGs when would kill them easily most of the time before they even fully loaded in. Sadly you auto lose PvP now when you come out of BGs. Why did they have to ruin a beautiful thing. Anyways after a couple hours and at least 100 guards trying to attack us we were disconnected from the game. Couldn't log back on and find out we had both been banned for 24 hours.

That is all hope you enjoyed. Have a great weekend.

Guess Who??

Well as most of you know I am a big fan of the voices of WoW. I also play with my sound on and although sometimes the sounds of battle can be so loud you can't hear what else was going on I would never turn it off since I would miss all the NPCs and Boss' voices. So today I thought I would make a little game by listing some of my favourite lines from NPCs and let us see if you are able to guess who they are from. Kind of like I did when I posted my screenshots and you had to guess where they were taken. So here goes

  1. "Your friends will abandon you"
  2. "My demise accomplishes nothing! The master will have you! You will drown in your own blood! The world shall burn! Aaaghh!
  3. "Worthless wretch! Your friends will join you soon enough!"
  4. "I AM THE COMING OF THE END!"
  5. "I am not some simple Jester!"
  6. "THIS PATHETIC SIEGE ENDS NOW!"
  7. "I have been patient, I have been waiting, and when the time is right the Betrayer will become the betrayed"
  8. "Whether your the world's greatest gnats, or the world's greatest heroes, you're still only mortal!"
  9. "Your stupidity has finally caught up with you"
  10. "It has been...entertaining"
  11. "I have seen worlds bathed in the Makers' flames. Their denizens fading without so much as a whimper. Entire planetary systems born and raised in the time that it takes your mortal hearts to beat once. Yet all throughout, my own heart, devoid of emotion... of empathy. I... have... felt... NOTHING! A million, million lives wasted. Had they all held within them your tenacity? Had they all loved life as you do?"
  12. "The time has come to shatter this clockwork universe forever"
  13. "Runaway little girl, runaway!"
  14. "My cup runeth over"
  15. "Men, woman, children... None were spared the master's wrath. Your death will be no different."

So I could make this mini quiz ridiculously long, but I think 15 is probably good enough. Good luck and I know some of them might be easy, but then some of them are probably a little more on the difficult side. Today is the last day to get your reasons and stories for a ban you or someone you know has received.

Tool of Tools

So yesterday night some people thought they were pretty funny. The thing is just by doing what they were doing was just proving how completely idiotic and moronic they actually were. Basically, it started out by someone making a toon called "Gaussdad", then someone went and made Gaussbrother, and then someone made Gaussister. Now the sad part was this wasn't just one person. Well it could have been, but would have had to have been separate accounts. I really don't know what would have been worse. Anyways, this group went on to add Gaussgrandma and Gausspapal to there crew. The whole purpose it seemed was to set out to insult me. Saying things like "your father wants you to come home", "Your mother is worried", "Why are you ignoring me brother", "Come give grandma a hug". Then they went on to insult me in any which way they could. All the while trying to get a reaction out of me. When in truth I could careless and very responded to any of it. If I did something enough to piss these people off and they made level 1 toon and ran all the way to Orgrimmar just to try and get me back. Well, I see it as I must have said something pretty awesome for them to waste that much time trying to get back at me. The truth is they looked like nothing but a bunch of tools who have too much time on their hands. Also do to the fact people were on them to say who their main was and they just kept going on with the little charade was just proof that I either got them very good in the past or they didn't want it very bad from me in the future. I believe the only person amused by the whole thing was a druid named Wonderboy. Go figure that someone with such a name would be amused by something like this. So all I have to say is bring it. You have given my material to last for weeks upon end.

Here is a screenshot a guildie of mine took
Thank you for making me worry about the future.

Reminder tomorrow is the last day to get in the reasons for you being banned or someone you have known. Remember to include a little story of why it happened as well. Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

You Fail At Reporting If...

So since the whole thing with me being banned for a day came up I thought about doing my fail post on reporting itself. There is always jokes about this so I thought it would be rather humorous topic to do it on. So sit back and laugh at all those special people you know.

You Fail At Reporting If...
  • In an effort to report someone for spam you ended up ignoring them or someone else
  • You told a gold farming bot you reported them
  • You tell anyone and everyone you reported someone so you will feel special
  • You reported Pi as spam right after it was asked for
  • You reported someone for spam just before posting a guild recruitment blurb in trade
  • You end up getting yourself reported for bitching about what someone else is doing
  • You think people care you are reporting them
  • You think reporting someone is going to change the world
  • You whisper someone to tell them you have reported them in an effort to make them stop
  • You say you are going to report someone and then have to ask how to do it
  • You end up applying to the guild of the person you just reported
  • You reported someone for reporting
  • You reported the person who reported someone for reporting
  • You reported someone for being awful in hopes it would improve them
  • You reported someone for being somewhere they shouldn't be when you are there with them

and finally

  • The concept of a joke evades you

That is it for this weeks fail post. Let's all have a drink for reporters! Free Loot Tuesday is upon us may your rolls be higher than everyone elses, unless you're a ret pally of course then I hope you loose and go cry and maybe die in a fire. Till tomorrow!

Ask Gauss

So yes it is a day late, but hey yesterday was Pi Day and it needed to be mentioned. What would it look like if the Pi Guy ignored Pi Day. So I hope you all enjoyed your Pi Day. I enjoyed mine and had a blast like always. Maybe next year Blizzard could make a Pi tabard because that would be beyond awesome. So that's enough of that let's get to the questions.

So I heard you recently got banned, if you could know who caused it what would you do?

Honestly knowing who caused the ban doesn't really matter. Blizzard has privacy issues so that is never going to be officially found out anyway so not much point thinking about what ifs. How does the saying go? If ifs and buts were candies and nuts then we would all have a Merry Christmas. Now if I haven't said it I'll say it again. I was joking around and purposely tried to insult anyone and everyone. People were offended and I accept that even if it comes down to not being able to take a joke for what it is. So if I would say something it would be relax sometimes a joke is just that a joke. There are too many protections for people to not get offended and they are probably the reason that people get offended in the first place.

You think it is wrong that it is so easy to get geared up now?

I may not like know how long it took me to get my tier 9 gear and then have someone able to get ilvl 232 with just farming heroics. The fact of the matter is this is past content. Also it is not the cream of the crop from that tier level. This lets people who are new to the game or weren't able to experience the tier at its current level a chance to get the gear for it. It also lets them get a chance at the new tier without feeling like they are behind. You don't need to gear up in Naxx, then Ulduar, then ToC in order to get into ICC. Blizzard is basically saving peoples time by giving them a way to experience the current level of content. Now this is great for players who have potential and now can get into guilds and progress if they were say new to the game or had been away and didn't get the chance to gear up. The other side of this is horrible players now have the gear to make them seem as if they are able to do what they should be able to. Now maybe I contribute to this in my buy gear runs in ToC 25, and many of these people are the people I hope for to be on the runs to stock our guild bank. So who knows, but I am all for increasing the player base of potential players to recruit into the raiding environment even if it means you have to deal with some horrible players at the same time.

You plan on going on a joke rampage again?

We will see...

So that is it for all the questions, but I do have the topic for this Friday's Reader post. Tell me about that time or those times you or someone else got banned. Make sure to include what for and some sort of story behind it. Enjoy the final day of reset and don't talk to Garrosh..

Happy Pi Day!!

First off Ask Gauss is being delayed till tomorrow because well today is Pi Day.

Pi Day you say? Yes there is a day for Pi. Today is the Mathematicians Super Bowl. It is the day where we celebrate all things math. I haven't been online today yet, but I doubt Blizzard acknowledges it at all. So it is my goal to make sure everyone knows what today is. You see it is not just an excuse to party although in University we used to use it as an excuse. The world can't exist without math and today we give back not by reciting formulae, doing homework, or talking about things which hardly anyone understands. We just make today about having fun because we are here to enjoy what the world has to offer. We don't complain, we don't argue, and we don't fight. So everyone enjoy your Pi Day because I know I will.

Of course how can we celebrate without a song.

And of course what better way to Celebrate Pi but with a cake!

Have a slice and spread the word!

Brothers In Arms Reunited

Yesterday or maybe early this morning someone I had not seen for the longest time stood in front of me in Orgrimmar. A fellow warrior who during the days of my run to High Warlord was there everyday helping me kick some alliance ass. Back in those days things were much different. Seeing him standing there still level 60 still in the gear that back at the time was itself pretty amazing. You see seeing Federici standing there made me really think about how much has gone on. Federici was the first guy I tried to teach everything I knew to. My first pupil of Warrior DPS. He was the first there to give me congrats on High Warlod. And always the guy there to charge into a group of alliance head on with me. Live or die we would make sure we took a bunch of them with us. When we both had our full sets of Valor armor we would stand beside one another, it was quite an intimidating sight to see. Brothers in Arms.

I remember when he made the video about my quest to High Warlord ending it with a tribute to our killing ways charging in and around Warsong owning everyone in sight. I remember how at the time there was still the growing bug where fire water + Berzerking BG buff could make you insanely huge. The two of us running around midfield the size of houses obliterating anything that tried to get by. PvP target dummies at our best.

Of course that same video ended with Pupil vs Teacher duels. I taught him well, but he just wasn't ready to surpass. The video ended "One Day...". Not to long after that video was made Federici had quit the game until yesterday when he stood there in front of me waving. He said to me "A lot seems to have changed, but you're still kicking ass". He ended with "It seems you may have to teach me all over again". Welcome back Fed now get your ass leveled so we can go kick some alliance ass.

That Special Raider

So we all know raiding is a very big part of this game, and really was the reason this game was created. Raids contain the lore and main reasons for doing what we are doing. Raiding also among other things brings people together to accomplish goals as a team. Like anything with a team though there are those members that make it fun, crazy, frustrating, and painful. This is what this weeks reader post is about. I asked for stories of that special raider who does one or all of those things. So here goes.

There is a guy in my guild that no matter how many times you tell him he will still screw up. Anything that can go wrong in an encounter he finds a way to do it. You know those things that you cannot believe people do well this guy does it. I always ask myself why he is still around, but then I just come to the conclusion that we wouldn't have anything to talk about. Here are some examples. He has mixed up charges on Thad, Iceblocked the tank on KT, deathgriped a spark onto Maly, pulled adds on FL, Ran life leech to the tank on General. These are just a few, but I am sure you get the point.

We have this tank that somehow always manages to kill himself in the most unique ways. The worst thing is you may think that doing it once someone would learn from it, but no. On Kologarn from example he has ran off the edge I don't know how many times.

Every week without fail we have this idiot rogue who DPSes Onyxia from behind and complains that he gets tail swiped. We have told him over and over and he still just replies "Only idiotic melee don't dps from behind". We have tried to tell him you always DPS dragons from the sides, but I as well as others have decided there just isn't a point in arguing anymore.

We have this guy who is always eating and drinking, which you wouldn't think was a problem but his mic is always open on vent. We can hear him slurping, chewing, and whatever else you can think of. The worst thing is this goes on during pulls, and I have no idea how he is able to play and do the same thing. He is not a bad player either. It is to the point that many people have him muted just to not hear it.

There is a guy in my guild who talks in a different accent every night. It actually freaks me out a lot of the time because I am clueless who I am talking to. He did one raid as a little girl and I never laughed so hard in my life. I couldn't concentrate or focus on what I was doing at all, but I would never ask him to stop because have the fun of logging on to raid is not knowing who he will be for the night.

Well there is this girl in my girl that the raid leader has asked not to speak during raids on vent because he has been told that her voice is very distracting to the younger guys on vent. Now I am not going to lie her voice is awesome, but every time she does speak they spend about 30 minutes in raid chat talking about how hot she is and then end up wiping for the same time while people refocus after taking their trips for their special time.

That is it for this week. Enjoy your weekend, and try not to be overly offended.

ZOMG Nerf

So they are nerfing Bladestorm next patch so that you can be disarmed while doing it. Now whenever they nerf warriors for those who don't know there is always like 50 posts on the warrior forums about the same thing and it is all the same people replying to other peoples threads with the same thing that they said in other threads. Makes actually reading them rather confusing because you are always wondering if you read that already. Now I understand why they are doing this if you don't know here are the reasons.
  • People are in aww of the spinning warrior and stand in the Bladestorm and die
  • People don't know you can stop attacking a target
  • There are many fail rogues that play this game
  • Did I mention people don't know you don't have to stand in the Bladestorm?

Now this is obviously a PvP nerf, but you know could always equip a weapon chain... Anyways like think for a second of how one could possibly actually disarm someone while doing this. Or they going to say change Bladestorm to use at your own risk because you could lose your grip on your weapon. The now epic tooltip of bladestorm would know read something like this.

Instantly Whirlwind up to 4 nearby targets and for the next 6 sec you will perform a whirlwind attack every 1 sec. While under the effects of Bladestorm, you can move but cannot perform any other abilities but you do not feel pity or remorse or fear and you cannot be stopped unless killed. BEWARE use at your own risk could send your weapon flying and then you will be defenseless.

or

Instantly Whirlwind up to 4 nearby targets and for the next 6 sec you will perform a whirlwind attack every 1 sec. While under the effects of Bladestorm, you can move but cannot perform any other abilities but you do not feel pity or remorse or fear and you cannot be stopped unless disarmed.

Really I just like poking fun at the massive amount of crying on the warrior forums. Although I do think its funny how they are allowing this because people are retarded. Pretty soon you will be teleported out of AoE! Reminder tomorrow is the last day to get your stories in about "that special raider" keep sending them along I have been quite amused.

Learn To Take More Offense

So I go to log on yesterday after an epic day of mind blowing killing of random things in the new Final Fantasy game when I get the message. "Your account is currently suspended please check your registered email for more information". So of course I was wondering what the hell was up and of course when I check my email there is nothing from Blizzard. Pretty pro of them to tell you to check something for a reason and then its not there. Now I have been banned before someone dared me to open a GM ticket jokingly insulting the GMs mother and his entire family. That got me a 3 hour ban and the fastest reply ever from a GM in existence. I also have received a ban for mailing too much gold to myself, which apparently flags your account, who knew? That one was a 24 hour ban, but I got it reduced after some complaining, since obviously I am not a gold farmer and did nothing wrong. This leads us to this reason.

Now I thought I could have received it for my exploring adventures on the weekend since I know some alliance whispered me and told me I was being reported for being somewhere I wasn't supposed to be. This though was not the reason. It didn't even cross my mind that my comedy in trade chat from the weekend was the reason. For those who weren't there or have yet to hear about it this is what happened.

I said before I started telling jokes that I was going to be fair and insult anyone and everyone. Therefore I couldn't be take as offensive to any one group of people. Second of all I stressed the point it was all for a good laugh, apparently upon finally getting my email it was not taken that way.

Realm: Llane
Character Name: Gauss

A user of the above account has recently been involved in actions deemed inappropriate for the World of Warcraft by the In-Game Support staff of Blizzard Entertainment. This decision was made after a thorough investigation of the situation as a whole.

When a harassment report is made, all players involved in the incident are subject to review, which may result in account penalties. Account Action: 24 Hour Suspension
Offense: Racial/Ethnic

This category includes both clear and masked language which:
* Promotes racial/ethnic hatred
* Is recognized as a racial/ethnic slur
* Alludes to symbols of racial/ethnic hatred

Lets be clear, I insulted everyone and I don't think I could have promoted hatred unless it would be considered hatred for everything. Regardless I wasn't going to fight it for the simple fact that people can get so bent out of shape over a joke. The best part of the entire email was the list of things I said because it is like 30 minutes worth of jokes in trade chat with the exception of the jokes I made about Caucasians. I am actually pretty pissed that those aren't included so much so that here is part of the letter I wrote to Blizzard last night.

So I understand that I have received my suspension of 24 hours because people obviously can't take a joke, and I am find with that. What I would like to point out is I am insulted at the fact that the jokes I made against a Caucasian with no particular religious affiliation are not included in the list of offensive and hatred material you included in the email I was sent. Is this do to the fact that you as Blizzard don't find these offensive and if so what makes them any less worse than anything else I said. Are things like this ok to say? I am just trying to make sure something like this doesn't matter again. It is very obvious you went through everything I said and if you look at the time stamps of everything you sent me there is an obvious gap of about 6 minutes were there is nothing. The whole purpose of it was I was insulting anyone and everyone so if you are going to suspend my account for something do it for that, and don't pick and choose because that in itself is more insulting, and shows that Blizzard as a company has this particular opinion.

So there is my rant and will be back today for all those who missed me. I wonder how long it will take me to offend someone...

You Fail At Buffing If...

So first off sorry for the late post been going crazy with FFXIII today. If you don't have it and are able to get it you should it's pretty awesome to say the least. There was a lot of talk about how good it was and playing it for just a few hours so far it has lived up to everything people have said. Anyways, this is about WoW and not Final Fantasy and it's Tuesday so besides being Free Loot Tuesday it's Fail Day.

You Fail At Buffing If...
  • You are a pally and don't have pally power
  • You are missing your regents to buff
  • You drop cozy fires to increase your spirit for boss pulls
  • You are clueless when someone says give me a paw, rhombus and an eye
  • When you are screamed at to buff for 10 minutes at still fail to do so
  • You are a shaman who places his totems on the opposite side of the room as the raid
  • You still think food buffs are for African children
  • You believe standing in poison is beneficial you rage generation
  • You give plate people Might over Kings
  • You are a hunter who raids with aspect of the viper on
  • You think scrolls stack with buffs
  • You think Amplify magic improves your DPS
  • You think standing in a fire gives you a haste buff
  • You don't to remove water walking when falling down to fight Anub'arak

and finally

  • You talk to Garrosh to removed in ICC when told not to

That is it for this week. Enjoy free loot Tuesday may all your drops not be sharded.

Worth Taking a Look At

So as many of you know I am a big fan of Machinima. This is because I love to see what people do with what the game has to offer. I am also a big fan of the lore of this game so if someone is able to create there own interpretations of it into a short music video or film than it is something to be appreciated. I am kind of embarrassed I had never came across Gnomechewer before yesterday. He is really worth taking a look at. His videos may only be 3 minutes or less but they extremely well put together and exceptionally done. He makes great use of the lore offered to him and uses it along with the music or clips he chooses very well. He does a lot of trailers for "movies" he could make which makes me hope he will some day do a 30 minute type movie.

You can check him out at his blog here

But I will include his newest video about the Worgen story here so be sure to check it out

Thank you to all those that pointed me in his direction. Also if you may also know someone else that is unknown that you think I should take a look at be sure to tell me about it. Enjoy your last day of reset and kill some new bosses!

Ask Gauss

It's that time of the week again and what a crazy week it has been. There was the new xpac updates with just minor tweaks to the stuff we heard at Blizcon, there was the buff being added, raiding, loot issues from me missing part of a raid, exploring random places, and of course last night probably offending every possible person I could in trade chat. Off to the questions!

So with the introduction of the raid buff in ICC what are your thoughts on it?

The buff itself will allow people from a variety of guilds or pugs for that matter to see the content of the game. I believe Blizzard is doing this instead of doing the straight HP and Damage nerfs they did at the end of BC so that everyone could see those bosses and that content. This way it gives people the option of doing it the normal way or using the buff to help them along. This way they make both groups happy and Blizzard achieves the goal of letting everyone see the normal content while making the top tier of people work at the hardmodes. Sure there is talk about getting achievements when you don't do encounters with the buff, and there is arguments for it. As well there is arguments that certain encounters can't be done without some sort of buff, but I am sure we will see. Remember there was a time when 0 keeper Yogg was said to be impossible.

Have you heard about the AH being available on Armory, and if so what do you think about it?

Yes, I have heard about it and I like the idea. Now the specifics are not out there and it has just been a lot of talk. Some of that being that you post and purchase, but only being able to post things that are currently in your bags, but not anything in your mailbox or bank. Purchasing of course there would be no limits besides the gold you currently have. What I like about this is it basically destroys the Tuesday markup which happens every week. Now yes I make a lot of gold this way, but it is also bothersome at how you have to time your auctions correctly to make it work. Anyone who plays the AH knows it takes up to 2 days for prices to reset to normal levels all the way around. I know it will make it more of a challenge in the gold making department, but also I think it will make it better since not having to deal with Tuesdays as they are to as much of an extent.

I heard you leveled a Pally?

I also saw pigs fly yesterday.

That is it for this week be sure to keep sending in the questions. Next Friday's Readers Post is going to be about that special raider. If you have ever raided with a guild you know who I am talking about so send along your stories so everyone else can enjoy in the fun.

Death From Above

So logging on today and ready to get back into the For The Horde swing we started out with Ironforge. This was because Vinletsu had found a way to get to the top of the kings room. So 3 of us went up there and summoned a raid of 40 people. The words "Don't Move" were said very often and we had to put down quite a few fires so people could actually see anything. Once all 40 were summoned we dropped down for some serious paratrooper type tactics. If only there would have been more alliance to actually see it happen. The look on their faces would have been something to see. We then went and killed Stormwind, Exodar, and Darnassus without a problem and really in the normal fashion. This was when all the fun started.

Since people had sent me all the screenshots of all the places where they have seen in WoW. We decided to go exploring. We first headed to the Kara Crypt and it was just as awesome looking as I remember it. After seeing it again I really hope Blizzard does something with it. The design, the features and the whole feeling of the place is very epic. "The Upside down Sinners" is truly a site to see. To get out we had to duel and then kill ourselves from fall damage. Since we had to get rid of our hearthstones to get inside in the first place.

Next Vin, Whirl, and myself tried to gain access to the Emerald Dream. Sadly we couldn't and couldn't even find a workable way how. So it will be left for another day. To Elwynn!

It was surprisingly easy to get to the base of the falls with the real challenge finding a way to climb up the falls in order to get to the Cabin. But doing that was quite an achievement and well here is the pic of Vin, Whirl, and Myself up there.

After we made our way to Ironforge in order to get into Old Ironforge. Except we took the mountain route. Was pretty scenic with lots of graphic glitches. Eventually Vin and I got into Old Ironforge where we started having an epic battle with some alliance through the door in the King's room. Yes through the door. I was about to hit people through the door and they were able to send pets through to attack us. Eventually this Gnome Mage named Foulacy came in and died a few times which brought a smile to Vin and my face. When he came back the second time and ended up falling and dying from the damage, it was pretty amusing. But our travels would end there for the day. Still need to go to many other of the places people sent me screens of and I will be sure to let you all know about it.

Ever Been Here?

So this week I asked you all to send along screenshots of places where not everyone has been or seen. Many of them I didn't know about or had even seen actual shots of them. I had limited amount of space and decided to just post the screens and not go into description on every single one. Little blurb for each seems to suffice. So have a look tell me if you have ever been or know someone who has. So lets have a look

Some sort of hidden troll dancing vilage called Shatterspear. Seems like the party keeps on going here.
This made me laugh only reason why I am including it.

No idea where this is I got no description for it.

Ironforge Airport.
Hidden Well in Azshara I am told. Didn't get instructions how to get here.
Mount Hyjal Zone. Come xpac we will be in here. They will have to take down the construction signs then I guess.

Old Ironforge got here a few times when feared in the kings room...
I am told this is the entrance and basement to the main building on GM island. Looks cool might explain why it takes them so long to answer tickets.

No Alt Z... but this is some ruins of SMC and since its in shambles its why I am including it. I got a very long explanation on how to get here, but I will leave that all to you to look up if you're interested.
This is Newman's Landing, been here many times and its quite a swim. There is quite a few mysteries about this place even if it looks very uninteresting.
Even if someone failed and didn't press Alt Z. I still like this one. You can get to it under Kara.
This is Elwyn Falls. Which is only supposed to be visual from the flight path from SW to IF. Or so I am told. Here is a blurb I found talking about it. "Elwyn Falls is another well-developed area not accessible to most players yet visible from the flight path. While the area may just be more decoration for riders, there are rumors linking the cabin above the falls to Nat Pagle, who was lost on his last fishing expedition and whose life is linked to the mysterious "Ashbringer" legendary sword. There is a school of fish that never despawns by one of the camps below the falls..."
This is a prison inside Stormwind which was supposed to be harder version of Stockades.
I was told by the sender these are of the Emerald Dream. The first one is a screen of Dreamcatcher Valley the second seems to be weird crop circles.

Here are some of the screens people included from the crypts under Karazhan. I have been here and it is one of the best looking and creepiest places WoW has. I really hope they do something with it some day.

Now basically here is the creepiest room in WoW. By far the most popular screens I received. Take a look at the few I have included and you decide.
That is it for this week. This make you want to visit any of these places? Enjoy your weekend all
