The Scourge Will Consume You

Here we are right in the middle of the week and I find myself right in the middle of trying to come up with a list for this week's post. I figured since all the cards available through Curse of Naxxramas are now available I would give my favourite 5 cards. Now, of course, I may have a different point of view but as always I don't really card about things like that. So here they are my top 5 Curse of Naxxramas cards.

5. Nerubian Egg

This card is great as protection against board wipes. It also is a great target for power overwhelming, taunting, and any other random buffs you can use. Overall just gives great value and can be very scary early game if popped.

4. Zombie Chow

Now reading the deathrattle of this card you might think it is pretty junk. When you think about it more though for 1 cost and 2,3 it gives you some great options at early board clears. Not to mention it has great effect for the deathrattle when paired with a soul priest punishing the opposing player for keeping it alive.

3. Reincarnate

Paring this card with any minion who has charge can cause ridiculous combos. I have used it to make multiple Leeroys, Al'Akirs, and to spawn Thaddius. This card is one which I think may see some adjustments in the future but for now I am enjoying it as is.

2. Sludge Belcher

The anti Zoo card if there ever was one. I really believe this was the purpose of this cards creation. Now it doesn't make zoo useless it just makes players adjust their deck with this card in mind. It also just makes for more interesting play when it always could be an option your opponent could throw down.

1. Baron Rivendare

Now on its own it is not that scary at all, but when pair with other things this card can get out of hand extremely quickly. Even looking up and seeing what could happen when this card is paired with any of the above is scary. I don't want to give away all my secrets but I have built decks with solely this card in mind, and will most likely continue to do so.

There you have it. What do you all think? Do you agree? Let me know what cards you cannot get enough of from Curse of Naxxramas, and maybe I might even see why while playing you on the ladder.

You Fail At Defeating Kel'Thuzad in Hearthstone If...

Fail Day! Yes it is here all of you who were worried about the lack of fails being pointed out while I was gone can now rest easy. Also since this was the first week of the Frostwing Lair was available for play I decided it would be fun to poke fun at those who have yet to defeat it. So here we go.

You Fail At Defeating Kel'Thuzad in Hearthstone If...

  • You couldn't beat Sapphiron to unlock him
  • You haven't seen what happens when his armor is removed
  • You tried to use a weapon class
  • You didn't emote him just to see what his response was
  • You didn't realize phase 2 starts when he has no cards in his hands
  • You kept getting your super buffed minion stolen
  • You didn't yell "tank grab the adds" when the popped just to make yourself smile
  • You thought you would finally get the Betrayer of Humanity
  • You think complaining on the forums about him cheating will be of a help
  • You believe the only reason you didn't win is because you didn't pay to win and have such and such legendary
  • You Net-Decked
  • You Net-Decked and still lost

and finally

  • You have yet to try Frostwing Lair
There you have it this week's edition of Fail. If you are still plugging away in Naxx keep at it. Heroic KT can be a pain just takes some patience!

Ask Gauss

Sunday and my first real post since I have been back from vacation. Even though I did have a pretty great vacation I am glad to be home. There really is just something about coming home after a vacation and realizing how much you missed it. That though is not really the topic of the day though is it? It has been awhile so let us answer some questions!

I would ask if you saw the Warlords of Draenor Cinematic, but I know you did. What I want to know is what you thought of it?

First if you are living under a rock here it is

I know I probably say this abut every expansion opening cinematic, but I think this one is the best thus far. It really brings old to new very well. I also really appreciated the salute to the Warcraft cinematic almost got that you cannot change what is supposed to happen moment. I have actually found myself watching it randomly again and again just because of how pumped it makes me to take part in it.

So all the Naxx cards are now in, what do you think?

The meta is still evolving, but I have been seeing quite a few different decks leveling up then I would have expected. I have also been having a blast trying to build my own decks with all of the new cards. Now I also think next season will be a really interesting one as I think the meta will be all over the place as people are adapting. This really is in my opinion an exciting time to play Hearthstone.

Did you miss gaming during your vacation?

Of course, but then it was also nice to have a nice relaxing break.

There you have it. For all of you who sent in questions especially while I was gone it will take some time to catch up and reply to them all. So please be patient I am not ignoring you! Enjoy what is left of your weekend!

Ask Gauss

Here we are on the Sunday of a long weekend. These Sundays are always the best Sundays because you realize you don't have to do anything tomorrow. Unless, of course, you don't have a long weekend then they are basically a slap in the face and me pointing it out really just makes you angry. On that note it is Sunday so let's answer some questions.

So do you think the Plague Quarter was better than the Spider?

Besides the obvious bugs which happened I think so. I thought the bosses on Normal were not as easy as they were last week, and the heroics were tougher in the sense that I built specific decks to take each boss down. To me I thought that is what the heroics would be anyway. One of my favourite parts of Hearthstone is making a deck with a purpose, and the Heroics this week actually let me do that causing me to consider using cards I would never find myself using. So here is hoping the same happens next week.

Do you think the Last of Us remaster is a money grab?

Honestly no. I really feel they noticed the influx of Xbox users from the previous generation and figured this is a great opportunity to allow them to play one of the best games ever made. Sure some who have already played may buy again, but the point of this really is to showcase to the former Xbox users and get them to stay with Playstation, and truthfully this may be the best game to do it with even if it is from the previous generation.

Which Hero would you add to Heroes of the Storm?

I think Thrall is the Obvious choice.

And we are done with questions for the week. Thank you to everyone who sent something in and long weekend or not, enjoy the rest of it.

You Fail At Naxx Heroic Bosses If...

Fail Day! Yes it is here along with a brand new wing in Hearthstone Naxx and 3 more Heroic Bosses to try and defeat. Did you happen to defeat all of the ones from last week? Well if not I am here of course to make you feel better on this edition of Fail Day.

You Fail At Naxx Heroic Bosses If...

  • You didn't pay attention to the Hero Powers
  • You didn't realize Grand Widow likes to ignore Lightwells
  • You thought it was unfair they had 45 health
  • You thought they were too hard
  • You thought they were too easy
  • You didn't exploit Maexxna hero power and endless heal yourself
  • You tried to do Anub with taunts
  • You just thought using the deck you always use on ladder would work
  • You heard other people had defeated them easily and you played along like you did the same
  • You thought the lag effect was a nice edition to the wing
  • You made a forum post that there was a bug because the boss was using cards 3 times
  • You couldn't even defeat the normal versions
  • You net decked to win

and finally

  • You didn't defeat any of them.
There you have it this week's edition of Fail. Hope you enjoyed it and good luck on this week's wing!

Gauss' Naxxramas Adventure

So here we are a couple days after Curse of Naxxramas has gone live. Well really only the Arachnid Quarter but still it is live. Now I must say I have enjoyed doing something different in Hearthstone for a change. I have mostly have just playing ranked to get my card backs for the season then enjoying some arena. This was mostly for the reasons when I ranked myself up the cards have been out for so much time everyone is basically playing the same decks and you kind of know how each game is going to play out.

Now I can't really comment so far how the 6 new cards added this week will make a difference in rank played because truthfully I haven't had much of an opportunity to play ranked mode as of yet at a higher level to see. I can tell you though about the adventure so far.

So the boss on Normal Mode were not that hard at all really was slightly disappointed at how easy they really were. I just used a board clearing shaman deck for all 3 and basically one with pretty much no effort. Now that is a deck that I have refined over quite some play so that really could be a reason.

The class challenges were more interesting because your deck is pretty random and the first draw I got with the rogue deck was pretty awful. Not knowing what cards were in your deck made it fun because I wasn't sure at all what I could draw or to expect. I expect some of the players that are used to playing specific ways with specific classes will find this bothersome, but I actually enjoyed it.

Now the bosses on Heroic mode were significantly more complicated then the normal versions were not overly complicated if you played to the Hero power of each boss. Grand Widow is probably where most people will have trouble, but using an aggro deck makes her hero power pretty useless. I tried with my shaman deck again first and got owned because I was just holding too many cards. I then switched to a Warlock Murloc deck and laughed my way to victory on turn 4.

Overall it was quite fun and this quarter was free because of the launch of it. I would say after playing it the prices for the following quarters are pretty much in line where they should be. Happy playing everyone!

Trifling Gnome

Well how is everyone on this happy day in the middle of the week most often refereed to as Wednesday. I am good have a one good day of Curse of Naxxramas Hearthstone under my belt, and I must say I like it. It is a good change of pace and although I haven't messed around in constructed with the new cards I am guessing that it will really mess with the meta. With that in mind I figured I would give all of you my top 5 Favourite Hearthstone Cards pre Naxxramas

5. Al'Akir

Now most of you at this point as asking why in the world would you like this card. Well the answer is rather simple it was my first legendary and holds a special place in my heart. Also it doesn't completely suck with some buffs it can really be a game changer

4. Leeroy Jenkins

The card so many people hate playing against because the whelps hardly if ever come into play. Really a great finisher and power overwhelming makes this card truly something scary.

3. Ragnaros

I was lucky and got my Ragnaros pretty early. He has won me more games then I can count and in other cases has angered me to no end by killing 1-1 minions over and over again. Still he makes me happy.

2. Faceless Manipulator

The only legendary not on my list, but it doesn't mean it is not something to be feared. Countless times I have copied what my opponent thought might be a sure win coming their way or I have created an army of giants which has caused more rage quits then I could possibly count. Good times.

1. Lord Jaraxxus

Don't think this was ever in doubt. Even if it was jsut the emotes he creates it would be worth it, but it really is so much more. The fact he is like a heal and basically causes your opponent to go into panic mode just adds to his awesomeness. WELL PLAYED!

So what are your favourite cards? And do you think any of the new cards will make you change your mind? Or even mine? Let me know as always.

You Fail At Curse of Naxxramas If...

Here we are yet another Fail Day. Today though isn't an ordinary Fail Day today we get the release of Curse of Naxxramas and I expect the Fail on this day to be much greater than most days. Why would you ask? Well read through and you may just learn why.

You Fail At The Curse of Naxxramas If...

  • You did not realize July 22 is today
  • You haven't saved enough gold
  • You didn't realize you should be saving 700 for each wing
  • You have a bunch of unopened card packs waiting to try and get all the new cards
  • You didn't realize it will be a gated opening
  • You will be the first one to complain a certain boss is OP because of their hero power
  • You didn't realize class challenges are where the class cards are coming from
  • You keep playing over and over in hopes of getting gold cards
  • You don't know why you can't play heroic mode yet
  • You accused someone of being pay to win because they have a Naxx lengendary
  • You think it is unfair people who have been playing and saving gold will not have to pay and will get the new cards sooner
  • You haven't realized you do in fact "suck"
  • You are already looking up strats to beat certain bosses

and finally

  • You were wondering why there is Tuesday Maintenance
There you have it this week's edition of Fail. Happy card playing everyone!

Will Curse of Naxxramas Cards Change Anything?

Friday! Got here in a hurry didn't it? So since it is Friday it is time for a Reader Post and I received one from Alexi which was rather interesting and I thought I would share. It has to do with when The Naxx cards are introduced into Hearthstone will it have any effect on the meta of the game with the specific cards we have seen. This is of course based on the facts certain things won't be changing before hand. So sit back and have a read.

All I've seen from the new Naxx cards are things that will maybe improve control warrior vs. druid or zoo vs. handlock, or token shaman and tempo priest will become major archetypes.

But, all of these decks will really just be playing around for fun, because miracle rogues and freeze mages, with the proper draws, will continue to make these matchups unwinnable.

Honestly, the power of a good draw in a miracle rogue makes double innervate into cairne look like a joke. Hell, it makes playing two doomguards in a row look weak.

Same thing with freeze mage. With the correct draw, there simply is no reasonable level of counterplay. Like, double innervate into boulderfist ogre I can finish off with a pyromancer+hunters mark. Problem solved. Double innervate into cairne can be game winning, but it's not quite game breaking, as the druid can find themselves low on cards right off the bat.

It's nothing like miracle rogue and freeze mage. Both of them have now evolved and adapted to the point at which they poke through the consistency ceiling. It's like the molten OTK decks all over again. Hell, Miracle would beat molten OTK quite a lot by being able to play so easily around their health. But, it wasn't really a thing at the time, since the deck was seen as gimmicky and luck based due to a lack of development by the best players.

But it's evolved now, and frost mage is now sticking out too as another one of these decks, that with the correct draw, make the game absolutely unwinnable for most opponents.

The ONLY thing that unseen Naxx cards could do is provide more aggro/defensive tools. Well, buffing aggro just makes this dearth of control decks even worse. Defensive tools? If they counter miracle rogue, they're probably imbalanced, since all we're going to see now are neutral minions.

So, no, I don't think Naxx will change much and I'd rather see a nerf BEFORE Naxx so that I don't have to dream about how nice these Naxxramas decks would be if it weren't for these often unbeatable decks.

I'm tired of it, so tired of it. I want the old tinkmaster/pagle druid/shaman meta back compared to this! Hell, the hunter meta was nicer than this. Sure, there are a lot more decks, but that's because two classes became playable without hunter being popular. So, basically you have a bunch of people screwing around and having fun, ranking up with weird decks because they can, even though they CAN play miracle rogue and don't want to (like me).

There you go something to think about on a Friday! Enjoy your weekend everyone!
