I Failed Humanity Once Before...And I Will Not Do So Again

Wednesday! Yes here we are in the middle of the week once again. Getting closer and closer to the weekend and Canada Day is fast approaching. With all the fireworks we are going to see this coming weekend I thought it was appropriate for this week's list to do who I think may be the best wizards in video games. So here goes.

5. Magikoopa

So as one of King Koopa's main underlings and one who in almost all cases is more difficult of an enemy then the king himself he gets the nod.

4. Magicka Wizards

Can travel through time and combine elements on the fly all the while crossing streams. Yes they are a formidable force

3.Shang Tsung

"Your soul is mine" will be forever what he is known for. The boss of the boss in the world of Mortal Kombat. Plus he can shapeshift.

2. Vivi

Don't let his small stature fool you. The power he wields is something everyone in Gaia fears. Even his other Black Mage brothers recognize his power.

1. Medivh

He is the last guardian. He absorbed all the power of the Guardians of Trisfal and their power is his to wield and no other. Not to mention he killed them all so this power could never be transferred from him. He has no match it is quite simple.

There they are my choices for the best wizards in gaming. Have an opinion on someone I may have missed? As always let me know in one way or another.

This End Have I Reached Before. What New Adventure Lies In Store?

Here we are in the middle of the week and only a couple days from Halloween. Actually the perfect day to carve that pumpkin you have been holding on to or pick one up to bring home and carve. The question everyone asks when they are about to carve their pumpkin is "what?" So I thought the perfect choice for this week's list is the best gaming themed Jack-O-Lanterns I have seen. So here we go.

5. Earthworm Jim

How could you not love anything Earthworm Jim? This pumpkin just makes me want to get out my SNES and start playing.

4. Tetris

At first glace this doesn't look like anything special. Then you think how perfect the cuts would have to be to make this work and not turn into a disaster and you realize how amazing it is.

3. Magicka

Now I love my Magicka a game I think every gamer serious or not should really play. This may not want you to play but it doesn't look pretty amazing even if there is no way to kill the people you are playing with with it.

2.  Bastion

May not be the biggest fan of the game itself, but I don't know how anyone cannot be a fan of this carving.

1. Outlaws

When I first saw this one I was just amazed at not only the work which went into it, but really how the light itself is what makes it.

There you have it. Do you have any which you feel are better? What do you plan on doing with yours? As always let me know one way or another.

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Hard to believe not only is the weekend almost over but the month of June is. Seriously just a couple of days to Canada Day! Not all of you are Canadian though so might as well skip on trying to explain everything about that today and do what I do best on Sundays. That being answering some questions. So here we go!

Do you think Blizzard is going to have a huge problem with the fact Terrans are not doing so well in the Global rankings of SC2?

I think it is a concern. The Problems with Terrans though are very hard to fix. Small buffs to the race in general can turn the tide in not the smallest way. We have seen now what a small decrease in the Widow Mine radius does. I think the problem really is that the micro involved in high end Terran play at the moment is astronomical compared to the other races. Does it mean the players of the other races are worst? No. Just means that currently Terrans are working so much harder in the late game. This has to do with the styles which have been favoured to play. Mech still really isn't a viable option, and sky Terran isn't really something which is easily pulled off without being killed in the process. So I really think in order to balance the game out those are the styleswhich have to be looked at. Right now we are seeing some Terrans adding pieces of Mech to their compositions and if the trend continues I think we may see the race in general make a comeback.

If you could recommend any game for a couple people to play together who aren't the best gamers but just want to have some fun playing what would you say?

Magicka without a doubt. The game is easy and difficult at the same time. It is also hilarious to play and even when you are dying or messing up it is insanely fun. It is also a game which will constantly surprise you, which is always a plus. You can also kill each other endlessly when you are angry or just want to be "that guy". Check it out it may even be on sale for the summer.

How many games have you purchased through the Steam Summer Sale?

Not enough currently have to get on and make my final choices.

There it is now your Sunday can go on. As always thanks to everyone who sent a question in if I answered it on here or not. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

What's Up Chickenbutt

Wednesday already eh? Seems like the week only just begun. Everyone liking the Final Fantasy X/X-2 remaster? Will do my thoughts on it tomorrow but so far it has brought back some memories from years past. Enough of that till tomorrow though. Wednesday means there should be a list coming, and what did I decide for this week's list? Well Cooperative  play in a game is something which when done right can be a lot of fun. The game because so much more enjoyable or really an only really be played for fun when it is played with others. So this week I am going to take a look at my favourite Co op games.

5. Portal 2

Never has a brain teaser game been so much fun. Playing this game and all its hilarious portal uses is just an experience in itself. I truly believe we will be hard pressed to ever find a game like this ever again.

4. River City Ransom

Back to my childhood. Really one of the first real non linear type games. This game was really made to be a co op experience which you would want to take part in over and over again. It never got old beating others up with your bat.

3. Magicka

Not only is this game a parody of other games you have played, but really is an entirely different game when playing in co op. Not only that is you actually enjoy destroying your teamates for nothing other then pointless hilarity or maybe because you liked their weapon. Either way the fun factor is one of a kind.

2. Trine

Trine is a game which has everything and the elements of having to use your teammates to complete certain objectives. It is completely team focused and failing is just as fun as succeeding.

1. Contra

Often mistaken as the first ever cooperative game doesn't take away from really how game changing this game was. Not only was it fun to run around shooting everything you came across but the game also involved a challenge. One which ever makes it one of the most difficult games you will ver play. The game was an achievement to defeat and one which involved fist pumping with your buddy when the impossible was finally achieved.

There you go this week's list all done. This was a surprising hard list to come up with as I had to leave some off that I didn't think would actually be possible. I am happy with it though as I am sure experiences while playing the game actually change your view of it. So be sure to let me know yours or what you think of mine.

I Dreamt I Was A Moron

Middle of the week already? That is the first thing I thought about when I started to throw ideas around for this week's list post. Then it got me thinking how some things in a game are so obvious and thrown out there you wonder how so many people never pick up on them. It is like they cannot see what is right in front of them. You then get into arguments with them how this and that is not true or that never happened, or there was never any proof. This is when having the conversation with myself turned into how I have to make a list about this. My top 5 obviously things in games people never picked up on. Now if you haven't played these games there is some spoilers here so keep this in mind before you go complaining about spoilers.

5 Vlad Is A Vampire - Magicka

So this one is rather silly and obvious but some people think it is a joke and not actually true. Even after the whole must kill the vampire level. Setting the record straight for everyone Vlad is a Vampire.

4. Drake and Elena are Married - Uncharted Series

So this one is a little less obvious, but the writing is on the walls the entire time. With the "ring" that mattered along with being separated along with the scene I chose for the picture. Everything points to this without it actually being said. Anyone who thinks otherwise honestly makes me facepalm every time.

3.  Assassin's Creed Games Contain Real History

You would be surprise how many people argue against this. There is even some stats on how you can learn more about history from Assassin's Creed then in an actually history course. You know tose little pop ups about the buildings you encounter that crap wasn't made up it was true. Along with the people you encounter. This is why the stories seem to make sense and fit in so well because they were created into real history.

2. Haschel is Dart's Grandfather - Legend of the Dragoon

I have had this argument with people over and over. They always quote Albert saying how common a name of Claire is. They also never talk about the singing or martial arts which disprove the whole naming theory. Haschel even figures it out and when his part of the Divine Tree comes he doesn't want Dart to know jsut yet.

1. Laguna is Squall's Father - Final Fantasy 8

This one is less obvious, but the conversation before "the end" is the final push towards this. It is never explicitly stated but signs point towards it. The whole "sis" thing and squall remembering certain things which no one else tends to remember even though they all have memory issues. The way Edea describes everything to him after she is saved. I am sure a lot of you are now having mindblown moments now, but just let it all sink in.

There you have it this week's list. Do any of you know anything worth mentioning? Think of one I for lack of better words obviously missed? Let me know.

You Will See Him Soon

Happy New Year! Hope you are alive and well. Hopefully you made those resolutions you will be breaking by the end of the month. Now don't go on saying that you won't break them because honestly I don't believe you and you don't believe yourself when you were saying it. Regardless today is Wednesday so it is time for some sort of list. What better way to get excited for the new year by posting my favourite moments while gaming the past year. This way we can see if this year will be topping it.

5. The Meltdown

So here we were playing SimCity and having a great time. We had one of the top ranked Regions in the world when Safiree decided she wanted to know what would happen if her Nuclear Plant had a meltdown. Not only did it destroy her city but our entire region was massacred. So ya that is what happens. I will always be sure to never let her forget this one.

4. Beating Magicka

So this is a game we just decided to start playing for shits and giggles, and it turns it it was one of the best co-op games I may have ever played. We had a ton of fun with it as you may know it just makes fun of pretty much every other game I play.

3. Serenity

I was leveling my Hardcore Monk in Diablo III. Now I have always played this on Monster Power 10 which basically is possibly the dumbest way to level a Hardcore Character, but it does make for the most insane "one shots" and "WTF" moments. A sad moment when my serenity was on and some how the bull still was able to kill me. I will though complete this stupid quest of leveling a hardcore character to 60 only using monster power 10.

2. Mengsk Being Killed

I love Starcraft and not only for the multiplayer but for the story itself. I appreciate the work the writers put into it. I have been playing from the very start and I remember not only helping Mengsk when he was part of the Sons of Korhal but I remember when he became leader of the Terran Dominion with the most epic of evil speeches. So when Kerrigan enter that room and confronted him I knew all the shit which was happening in that moment. It is not often that a villain dying right happens in a game but this was, and something I will not soon forget.

1. The Last Of Us

This game was a masterpiece and is an experience I will not soon forget. The only thing I disliked about this game was that it ended. I hope we get something maybe not to the exact level but at least closer to this type of level this year.

There you have it my gaming moments of the year. What have been some of your favourites? What do you hope for in the New Year? I can tell you I am excited for what is coming looks to be a great year.

Ask Gauss

Sunday or this week known as 2 days till Black Flag day. What can I say I am a little excited for the new Assassin's Creed. I have liked everything I have seen so far from it and it's pirates who doesn't love pirates? Week has been calm for the most part. Finished up the DLC of Magicka on Friday with Safiree now just can mess around with it. We got our Facebook page up and running. You should really go over there an like that. Just going to be putting random goings as I am up to them there. Screenshots and all that fun stuff. Anyways, it is Sunday so let's get on with the questions.

So Halloween is coming up which gaming character would be your greatest costume?

I really don't think you could ever go wrong with Ezio. He is someone Gamers and Non-Gamers alike can recognize. Also he is a pretty sweet character.  Wouldn't get be fun to act like for an entire night? Think of the endless possibilities. For the purpose of epic costumes I have always wanted to create a Vivi costume. Vivi is one of my favourite characters not just because of his story but because he is iconic. He is a character who connections generations of gamers. I almost think they need to some how get him in a modern Final Fantasy game just for the sake of connecting him all over again.

What is it like to game with you?

You know I could really answer this and I may do a good job at it. Although what better way to answer this question then to pose it to Safiree the person I game with most often. So here is her answer to the question.

Best way to describe gaming with you, is through an analogy. Say im in a tree. Mid climb and at the top there are deadly monkeys (Gauss) waiting the chance to eat my face off (teach me how to play), Now I can either climb to the top to the monkeys, or I can climb down to the inevitable I told you so. Most of the time its me climbing down, and wanting to duct tape your mouth shut But I cant because If I did that, then gaming wouldn't be any fun.

Line of the week?

"With no power comes no responsibility"

There you have it this week's questions answered. If you have a question you can email it to gaussafication@gmail.com, or any of the other methods at the top right of the page. Enjoy what is left of your weekend.

Well Butter My Biscuit

So have you ever started playing a game thinking it wasn't going to be very good, or at least not as good as everyone was saying? Then after playing it you were surprised at how much you enjoyed it. Well that is what this week's list is going to be all about. Games I only decided to play because I felt it was necessary to play them. I didn't have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I ended up liking them. So here they are.

5. Magicka

So I had heard for awhile that this game was actually fun. From all the trailers it looked amusing, but never really decided to actually play it. When I did I not only found the game fun and entertaining but there was some difficulty to it within the single player game. You had to think a midst all the hilarity which gets thrown around.

4. Dark Cloud

So the concept of the gaming sounded interesting. It was an Action Role Playing game and it included some city building as well. It had an interesting concept. The character though looked almost like Link and I started to get scared. I picked it up and was quite impressed how they tied everything together and how I was able to forget how much Toan looked like Link.

3. Legend of the Dragoon

When LoD came out I was a skeptic. The game was being released by Sony and it was getting rave reviews from sources which were linked to Sony. Regardless I picked up the game and everything which was said was true. The game had a story any RPG would love to have along with a combat system in a turn based style which I hope one day will make its way back.

2. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

The Assassin's Creed games while connected were not true sequels. Sure the current time period was connected to one another but part 2 brought in a new Assassin's known as Ezio one of my favourite gaming characters ever. I was scared when Brotherhood was announced because I didn't want them to ruin the character. Well they didn't ruin him they did the impossible and made him better. Brotherhood was far and away a better game than ACII which was a great game itself.

1. World Of Warcraft

I was a fan of Warcraft since Orcs and Humans and although MMOs were not a new thing they were new. I had played EQ and Final Fantasy XI and I really wasn't a fan. I didn't like the style. I figured I would play WoW and then complained how they ruined one of my favourite gaming series by turning it into and MMO. I ended up playing WoW for 7+ years and from it this blog was even born from my adventures within it. I probably would still be playing if I had the time to commit to play the way I feel it needs to be. World of Warcraft by far was the biggest surprise from any game I ever played.

There you have it this week's list. I know everyone's is different but tell me what you think or your thoughts on your own games which surprised you.

You Fail At Magicka If...

Fail Day! Yes it is that time of the week once again. This past week has been all about messing around with Magicka as you could see from all the pictures being posted on the newly created facebook page can access it on the side of the page or /gaussafication. Yes I know that was awful push in that direction, but it was done. Anyways, since I have been having fun playing figured it was a perfect opportunity to throw it into a Fail Day

You Fail At Magicka If...

  • You are unsure why MacLeod isn't dying
  • You don't laugh why seeing a pile of princesses in a castle
  • You don't find enjoyment in randomly killing someone in your group
  • You purposely kill yourself because you lost your frost cleaver
  • You have yet to kill anyone but yourself when summoning death
  • You don't wonder why thunderbolt seems to favour killing people in your party
  • You run into vortexes
  • You feel running through your grease fire was a good idea
  • The concept of opposites is rather confusing
  • You didn't enjoy destroying the entire goblin civilization
  • You think grenades and bombs give you haste buffs
  • You don't try to pick out which game every zone is from
  • You don't make attempts to randomly speak like the characters at random points during your day
and
  • You were unaware Vlad was a vampire

Hope you all enjoyed it!

Ask Gauss

Sunday here we are once again. I swear it seems like some weeks go faster than others. Alas though just must mean I was busier than normal, which again is hard to believe because I obviously wasn't. Enough with the random thoughts though. It is Sunday so let's get to the questions.

How about all those Black Flag trailers lately?

I agree all of these Assassin's Creed IV trailers are making the wait for the seem like an eternity. Judging from what I have seen they have really made the story of this game a big part of it. More so than III whose story was a large part with that of the future and not as much in the past. Who knows though I have yet to play the game, but I can tell you I am excited. I am sure you all will be seeing a lot more Black Flag posts from me in the next couple of weeks. Here is a look at my favourite trailer so far.

What was your favourite Beyond:Two Souls ending and do you think there will be a second game?

I have yet to see the endings which are from the Beyond but of the life endings I believe the Zoey ending to me makes the most sense and fit the best. Now without giving to much away it just feels like the right ending under the circumstances. To your question of a second game I think that is pretty much implied at the ending specifically even more so with the Zoey ending. I will also be right in line to play that game and experience it all again.

Funniest thing which happened to you this week?

Danka danka. All you Magicka players will understand.

That's it questions answered for the week. Keep in mind you can send your questions in at any point during the week. Gaussafication@gmail.com or any of the other methods on the top right of the page. Enjoy what is left of your weekend.

Not A Vampire

So here Safiree and I were wondering what we were going to be playing. You know those moments when you want to do something but really have no clue what you are going to do and want someone else to decide it for you. Although you have no problem at all shutting down everything the other person suggests. Well that was me the other day.

Then I thought why don't we play Magicka. Always looked interesting in the weirdest way possible and who doesn't like a game that makes fun of all the things you love about gaming? Also being able to randomly kill the person  you are playing with is always a plus when they piss you off or when you just feel like stealing their weapon. Why? Because I saw it first and you shouldn't have picked it up.

So we have just been messing around for the past few days trying to progress when we don't feel like randomly killing one another. The game although not the hardest game ever does offer some challenge besides the urge to take out your frustrations on other players.

You will be hard pressed to find a game which makes you laugh at someone else blowing you to bits. I always seem to find it hard to not aim my beam at my fellow players the explosions just look so beautiful. Also who doesn't enjoy killing quest givers who aren't really quest givers? I know this isn't much of a story but really I have just been having fun doing the most random of things because frankly it makes no sense. I am not even getting mad because it was hilarious to watch my little Vivi lookalike fly 50 feet in the air before landing on a bomb which blew the pieces of my corpse back into the air from where it came.

Who knows maybe I may have a real story in a day or two but really so much hilarity and stupidity is happening makes it nearly impossible to keep track.
