You Fail At Knowing What Happened At E3 If...

Fail Day! Yes it is that day of the week. It is actually the first Fail Day of the summer, well that is if you are joining me in the Northern Hemisphere, which if I am to believe the numbers to the blog it isn't always the case. E3 was last week hopefully you were aware of it. If not then this blog kind of explains itself. So let's take a look back and see how much you really took in.

You Fail At Knowing What Happened At E3 If...

  • You didn't learn anything new about the VR market
  • You are not in the least bit curious about the new Zelda game
  • You didn't catch Prey is finally coming
  • You did not like what you saw from "For Honor"
  • You are not pumped for a new Skyrim
  • You are not happy Norman Reedus is finally getting to be a main character in a game
  • You missed the Playstation branding
  • You didn't see EA is not against pumping their own tires
  • You are not curious about the "new" God of War
  • You didn't catch the Playstation Neo announcement
  • You didn't think Battlefield 1 lost something
  • You cared about any xbox announcements

And Finally

  • You don't care in the least about E3

There you have it this week's edition of fail. Hope you all enjoyed it in some form or another. If not then oh well, you are probably morning Ramsay's death.

Ask Gauss

Sunday. Yes it is that time of the week and while everyone may be wishing away the day till they can watch "The Battle of the Bastards" there is still some time till we are there. So why not stay awhile and read this week's Ask Gauss and see what questions I am answering today.

What did you think of this years E3?

After what was pretty jam packed few days of sensory overload I am looking back on it and in my mind it was a big win for VR. Ever since "The Virtual Boy" I have been very put off from anything VR. Now technology has changed quite a bit since then, but I was pleasantly impressed with everything I saw. I would even go so far as to say I am excited to get m hands on some of it. So if that isn't a big revelation I don't know what is.

What did you think was the most ridiculous thing at E3?

The fact that everything close to Playstation had to have its logo. Did anyone else notice this? Even their water bottles and wipes needed to have the logo on it. I understand branding, but then there is something about going a little too far. Maybe their E3 budget was higher than expected and were like end of the year teachers at an office supply store? Even if that was the case at least it was somewhat amusing to look back on.

So who wins the Snowbowl?

A bastard

There they are all the questions for the week. Hope you got something out of it in one way or another.

E3 Is What It Is

So as you probably know E3 is going on. You know one of the time gamers from all over the world look to for great news on their favourite properties for the year. See if there is any announcements or shocks that they can get pumped up for. This is not only great for the industry, but for the gaming community as a whole. It gives us something to connect to each other with.

Now something that people can't stop arguing about is the fact that whatever shown at E3 is basically just flavour to get people hyped and talking about their game. Yes it is true. Companies come to E3 and show off their properties and get them talking about it. This really is the only reason for companies to participate. Now in previous years companies have been caught using trailers, clips and such that contains nothing from the actual game as a whole. These pieces were merely created for E3 and the purpose of selling their games in the future. Because this has happened though some people decide to cast off people who enjoy anything they see at E3 as just a purpose to get people talking and pre-ordering their game and then all consumers will be let down in the future.

This is a pretty half empty approach. Yes companies have used the practice, but any game looking for pre-orders at E3 is generally pretty close to shipping and not as most things are and that being at least a year away. Games in this day in age are announced way before shipping. Games advertising pre-orders are in all likelihood not announcing their game for the first time during E3.

So it is simple, do your research don't be a lemming. That includes listening to the guy saying everyone lies at E3 and it is worthless to tune in. So enjoy E3 for what it is not what someone else thinks it is.

You Fail At Being Ready For E3 If...

Fail Day! Everyone's favourite day of the week. Still unsure how to feel about that after all these years, but it is what it is. You may also be aware that today is the first day of E3, and how could I pass that up for a Fail Day.

You Fail At Being Ready For E3 If...

  • You had no idea it started today
  • You don't like no random tech
  • You don't believe any new games which are worthwhile will be announced
  • You are interested in anything related to xbox
  • You didn't watch any of the pre E3 press conferences
  • You don't like watching new game trailers
  • You don't like to see new IPs
  • You are not excited to see what companies flop their announcements
  • You don't remember the "used game" fisaco
  • You don't have a checklist for HD remasters ready to check some off
  • You are not looking for some news on VR developments

And Finally

  • You have no idea what the three E's stand for

There you have it this week's edition of Fail. Hope you all enjoyed it, and are ready for all the fun and excitement to come.

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Yes your weekend is coming to an end. I am sorry I am the breaker of bad news, but truthfully this really shouldn't be news. Just like the fact that Sunday is the day that I come here and answer questions for all of you. So before thinking of a better way to intro this post why don't I just get to it.

Are you ready for E3?

Well if by ready you mean the reveals and all that jazz then yes. There really is nothing like that in the world of electronics and gaming. So much news in a short period of time really is a great time to be interested in such things. There are some interesting pre-E3 rumors that have me interested, which I could mention but I don't want to jinx it. So I will just say I am hoping for good things.

Do you think the good reviews for Warcraft are only from fanboys?

Actually no. So fanboys tend to accept games no matter how good or bad they are. One thing that gamers always talk and complain about regardless though is the lore and the story. If something doesn't flow or make sense or mesh well they will let you know. This is why I will trust gamers review of the movie more than anyone, because they will rip it to shreds if something doesn't fit right. So with the most critical people give the story a nod then I am taking it for what it is.

Shadow of Mordor 2?

Shhhh

There you have it all the questions answered for the week. Thanks to everyone who sent something in this week if it was answered here or not. As always this would not be possible without your input. Now enjoy what is left of your weekend.

Ask Gauss

Sunday! The last day of January to boot! How are those new years resolutions going? Pretty much what was to be expected. Well think of it this way you are still here coming to read the blog. So I can appreciate that. As you should know today is all about questions so let's get right to it.

How many more WoW Expansions do you think we will see?

Honestly? As many as they are willing to still make and people will still be playing. The Warcraft Universe still has tons of things they can still do. Also with the genre of RTS basically just consisting of Starcraft there really is no reason to have Warcraft 4 ever be a thing. Now eventually we might see a free to play model, but even still I think that is a ways away.

What do you think of EA decision to skip E3?

Well really every jumps on EA and for good reasons. Most of their games are rehashed sports games with minimal improvements that promise to be better and better. Games they have released in the last few years not sports related have been plagued with bugs and problems by others in the industry. So why not have your own thing where fans can go to that is all about you to avoid all the bad press because well you have no competition at your own event.

Did you know they have Mega Man Headphones?

Well I do now and my life is forever changed. Thank you.

There you have it this week's questions. Hope you all got something out of them if it was your question or not. For those still waiting for my response stay patient I will get there eventually. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

You Fail At E3 If...

Fail Day! Normally this time of year it is a great time to be a gamer. You can sit back and see everything which is coming your way, and really this is no change. I did though have a random conversation the other day when someone didn't actually know what E3 was. So hear I am to immortalize that event with Fail Day so here we go.

You Fail At E3 If...
  • You have no idea why E3 is a big deal
  • You believe their is no difference between Gamescom and E3
  • You did not know it is an industry only event
  • You are unsure what trades fair means
  • You don't make a list of all the reveals you want to see every year
  • You don't shake your head at some of the upcoming titles
  • You don't remember how badly Microsoft failed at last years E3
  • You are not familiar with the term "booth babes"
  • You were unaware it is located more often then not in the LA Convention Centre
  • You are excited for the Halo reveal
  • You look forward to the endless amounts of promotional merchandise
  • You say when it is over next year I am buying tickets

And Finally
  • You did not know that E3 was short for Electronic Entertainment Expo
There you have it this week's edition of Fail. Hope you all enjoyed ti and have been watching all the events at this years E3

Ask Gauss

Sunday! The first of June as well meaning summer is getting closer and closer. With it comes those people who complain it is hot out when they were the same ones during the winter complaining it was too cold. I know makes no sense to me either. Regardless it's Sunday and you came here to see some questions answered so let's take of that shall we.

Is Leeroy an OP card?

I know a lot of people go on and on in Hearthstone about how certain cards are OP. The reason people dislike Leeroy is because most of the time the whelps are not even a factor. I like many others who use the card use it to finish off an opponent and therefore since the whelps don't have taunt they are not even a factor. Now is this a bad thing? I don't really think it is as really it makes the card useful as finisher. Basically makes the card a fireball where you only have certain situations where it can be useful. Now I guess we may see a many increase but even they I don't believe it changes the effectiveness of the card itself.

What are you looking forward to seeing at E3?

Honestly there are quite a few things, but if I had to pick one I think Assassin's Creed Unity is something I could choose instantly. As you all know I love the Assassin's Creed games not only because of their gameplay and story but because history is something of great interest to me and combining gaming and history to me is just something which will put a smile on my face every time.

So no Kinect on Xbox One?

They finally realize real gamers could give a crap about it.

There you go questions answered for the week. Thank you to everyone who submitted a question. As always feel free to send your questions in on any of the ways list at the top right of this page or just send the email to gaussafication@gmail.com. Enjoy what you have left of your weekend!
