You Fail At Accepting Help From Others If...

Fail Day! Yes time for all of us to feel better about ourselves that is unless you are the person who fits right into this week's Fail Day niche. This week is a special one because we all know at least one of these people. You know those people that need help, but refuse to accept it in anyway possible. You all know who you are, and this is for you.

You Fail At Accepting Help From Others If...

  • Your attention span is non existent
  • You die repeatably the same way and ignore all ways to avoid it
  • You argue how keyboard turning and clicking works just fine for you
  • You have 10000000000000000 damage and 10 health
  • You take everything someone says about how you are playing and ways you can improve as "You Suck"
  • You see accepting help as admitting defeat
  • Regardless if simply proven otherwise anything that kills you is OP
  • You quit games before accepting you need someone's help
  • You cry in order to make people stop talking to you
  • You think looking at replays is for bitches
  • You prepare for everything instead of scouting because scouting takes away from "the plan"
  • You don't bother with boss strats winging it always works better
  • You believe you know everything you need to know about any game you play even if it is the first time you have ever played it. In your mind you coded it.

and finally

  • You don't think you need help whatsoever

There it is this week's edition of fail. Just do it all a favour even if it is just for the day listen to those who are trying to help you out.

You Fail At Offering Help To Gamers If...

Fail Day! Yes it is already Tuesday so it is time to enjoy the day for what it is. That being the celebration of failure. So when thinking about what today would bring I thought of those times when you are giving or receiving advice which is pretty damn awful. So here is my shout out to those moments.

You Fail At Offering Help To Gamers If...

  • You stand up to point out the obvious
  • You laugh at repeated deaths
  • Your instructions are too vague to make any sense
  • You continuously try to grab the controller
  • While giving instructions you insult anything if it is something you wouldn't have done
  • You just sit there quiet observing the frustration
  • Your help is during the middle of a fight
  • You are a clicker or keyboard turner
  • You are watching a live match
  • Your ideas make Bagellord look like a gaming god
  • You don't know a phoenix down kills an undead minion
  • You believe fire gives you haste

and finally

  • Your advice always starts with "Well when I did it.."

There you have it this week's edition of Fail. Hope you enjoyed it and will think before you give your advice next time

Ask Gauss

So I hope everyone's weekend was a good. Mine hasn't been that bad at all. Plenty of questions to choose from this week to throw up here, so had quite a choice on my hands. Although, not one about Real ID this week, that was quite an adventure last week wasn't it? So enough of my intro let's get to it.

When you try to help people with their gear and spec how do people react?

This I guess really depends on the person. I have had people come to me and ask questions about how they can improve. Sometimes they listen to me and accept what I have to say. Of course they have questions regarding what I am telling them, and I answer them. Sometimes it is the complete opposite they ask why I would tell them to do such things and argue with me. Did they forget they were the ones that asked for my help?

The other situation is when I see someone maybe not doing as well as they could and I give them pointers. Sometimes this goes over well and they listen and may keep coming back to me. Like say when they have a potential upgrade and they ask if they should get it and how to gem or enchant it. Or they may just want to show me they are following my ideas, and want reassurance. The flip side to this is people sometimes take offense when you are trying to help them out. "What makes you think you know everything?" These are the people that believe they actually know everything and refuse help. They will generally be the ones that will keep doing what they are doing. They are the DKs that gem agility, the Pally that spams Flash of Light, or the tank that uses bladeward. When you get these people just don't take offense at them being a moron, and realize you tried.

Do you recruit people who don't have experience up to your level of content?

This question was longer, but that was the gist of it. Would I recruit people with no Hardmode experience? If they had the gear level that is required to preform then of course. People can learn to adapt. In truth there is many hardmode encounters that are easier than Lich King and Sindragosa are. Recruiting someone like this is especially true if say you cannot fill raids because of lack of numbers, missing a particular raid buff, or low on melee or range. Sure the person may be on a higher learning curve, but it shouldn't be something that they cannot overcome. You put them through your trial period like an other recruit and evaluate them afterwards. The thing is there are a lot of good players stuck in guilds that aren't going anywhere. These people might thrive in a new environment where they can actually succeed.

What is a quick way to make easy gold?

Sell your Shadowmorne items that aren't yours to sell...

That is it for this week. Next weeks Reader Post is going to be about trade sellers catch phrases you have seen. As always you have until next Thursday night to get them into me.

Enjoy what is left of your weekend!

So I got a lot of emails today and yesterday where the two new Screenshots on the blog are taken from. So since today was a pretty crazy day I figured I would use today to showcase my afternoon to find new screens to showcase on the site. I thank Tawnos for being my Photographer.
Taken in front of Grim batol. Was actually Tawnos' idea to go here first as he want to see the Old Azeroth places which won't be the same in the not too distant future.
I just like this shot because it seems as though I am thinking about charging someone and owning them. Taken near the entrance to Grim Batol. Again like the previous come Cataclysm this shot probably won't exist.
You may think this was actually hard to pull off, but it was actually quite simple. I think though if it was taken from below would have been better. Oh well I can show people this to say "hey I stood up there!"
Perfect screen here that I like a lot. Damn in the background. What you can't see if Tawnos almost falling off the waterfall to his death to get this shot. We both ended up dying eventually, but it was all worth it for the shot!
This mug is actually interesting there is a whole wowiki article on it and what the initials on it mean. Along with what actually may have happened at Newman's Landing. If you're interested I would suggest taking a look.
Lastly the outside shot of myself and Tawnos(on the right) with an outside shot of Newman's Landing.

The header picture is taken looking out on the Great Sea basically the opposite angel to this shot and of course the "help" picture is taken with Tawnos' Eagle eyes at the base of Grim Batol. Always love my screenshots and will be sure to always change it up. Enjoy the last day before reset.
