Happy Halloween everyone on this day of the week known as Sunday. Sunday being the day that it is time for Ask Gauss. Where I go through all my mail for the week and pick a few questions to answer for you. For those who don't know how to get a hold of time or cannot find the link at the top of the page it is gaussafication@gmail.com. So getting that out of the way let's get to the questions shall we.
With Azeroth changing forever or at least before it all goes down what do you think is the best looking zone in the game?
Well since you are referring to the expansion I guess that means I have to exclude Nagrand, Howling Fjord, and Grizzly Hills. In the "Old" world I really enjoy Mulgore and not just because I play a tauren. The land is such a tranquil place. There are so many dropbacks around and just flying around in what we currently can on the flight masters you can see all of this. The land itself is really untouched by major civilization, which makes it more appealing to the eye visually.
I am sure though when they change the zones around Desolace and Feralas are going to shoot up my list rather quickly of zones you want to just visit to look at.
Without giving away too much does the novel "The Shattering" help us understand things more in game?
In a simple word yes. Anyone who reads it will get a much different picture of Garrosh and his motives. Not to mention Varian's son plays a large role in the novel as well. Basically it is a great way to understand all the events leading up to Deathwing's entrance into the world. I haven't finished it as of yet, but from what I have read this is what it seems to be doing. Now patch 4.0.3 is called "The Shattering" so I am not entirely sure if the events of the book will take place just as they did in the book in game. I guess only time will tell us this.
If a kid came to your door with Paladin, what would you do?
Inform his parents that they are banned from procreating.

The New Water Effects
So with the new water effects being in place I have a new favourite thing to do with my free time. I go to Grizzly Hills in addition to still doing my pointless fishing to try and get myself a Sea Turtle mount I head to the logging camp where I do one of the most fun but unknown things in all of WoW. If you don't know what I am speaking about it is none other than "The Log Ride". This is where the NPC gives you a log to ride all the way from the logging camp to Venture Bay. You fly over the water falls down the rivers and now with the updated graphics it really is a visual ride also.
To all those who have no idea what I am talking about. Feel free to go to the logging camp and find the NPC at the top of one of the log shoots, talk to him get your log and then just enjoy the ride. Also don't feel bad if you want to go up and do it again and again. It really is that fun. So fun that if WoW was "real" this would be one of the first things that I would go do given the choice of anything in the game.
There are also so many backdrops which are much more visual then before. STV around ZG and the coastline itself look great with water and sunshaft effects. These are just a few things that are looking better and are more visual. Anything you have noticed?

Future Storylines
It is Friday for those that live in a box and need to be told what day of the week it is. With Friday, of course, brings the Reader Post. The post that is made by all of you readers and your contributions. This week I asked for submissions of what storyline you are most looking forward to with Cataclysm. So time to get to it.
The Goblin storyline is something which I am really excited for. It is something that is so similar to what happened to many poor Europeans doing the colonial days. Trying to get to the new world only to become slaves. Although in this case they get freed in the fluke event that their ship is wrecked by alliance cannon fire trying to destroy Horde ships. truly well thought out and can't wait to be a part of it.
Metzen said "Thrall is the most important person on Azeroth and doesn't even realize it". He also hinted at the fact that he could be a replacement to Deathwing in the Dominion of Earth. I have always thought the character of Thrall in terms of Lore is one of the most amazing and complex. Now that story gets expanded upon and I cannot wait.
I always thought Genn Greymane was this idiot in all the novels and reacted in some of the most inconsiderate and uncompassionate ways. Now he is one of the leaders of the Alliance with a very emotional leader in Varian. It will be interesting to see how the two of them interact with one another.
Deathwing is evil. Illidan there will always be a story of redemption that would be a possibility. Love or hate Arthas you just knew there was some of "Arthas" left over. There is nothing like that for Deathwing. He is the what a Villain should be. There is no doubt there is no chance for redemption there is only death and destruction. How can one not look forward to unlocking more of this amazing story of one of the "chosen" falling so far from grace.
I am interested in the CoT instance and developing more information about the Infinite dragonflight. Is it really Nozdormu or is it someone else behind them? I really hope we get some sort of answers since we were told the "family" will be coming together to defeat Deathwing.

With flying now available in the old world, the potential to swoop down upon one's worthy opponent, kill them, and take off. The story will probably pick up on January 1st at, oh, 2 server time, because most everyone will be sober by then, with Gauss picking a fight somewhere in a storied Alliance city. Gimm will attempt to defend and die spectacularly. Thus will be born another chapter in the saga and new statistics will need to be created, "Number of attempts by Gimm to stop a raid" and "Number of times I killed Gimm as she attempted to stop a raid". Blizzard can't possibly top that storyline.

Acting With Certainty
As with anything, something always comes around which is better than something else. Makes you think, makes you wonder, and you just become so involved in trying to figure it out. Maybe this is just me as a Mathematician, maybe it is not. I came across this machinima, and not only did I think is was absolutely perfect and wonderfully done, but it had what I was telling you above. There is just something about it that makes it one of a kind. If you have ever watch any machinima I can promise you would have seen nothing like this. Always when I make a post about machinima I will tell you my thoughts of the story and the video itself, but I am not going to do it this time. I want you all to watch it and pay attention and see what you can figure out from it. I have watched this many times and I find out more every time I watch it. I know you all will become involved in this as well and try to figure out "Acting with Certainty".

If You Hated The Fel Reaver In Outland
So everyone who ever leveled in Hellfire knows the "oh crap Fel Reaver" feeling. He would come out of no where and kill you as if he had some sort of stealth abilities. Well Blizzard has decided to do something even better.
One of Azeroth's oldest adversaries will soon tear through the Elemental Plane to reforge the world in flame, but this foe won't be conducting his reign of terror from the confines of a castle or lair. Deathwing is a destructive force the likes of which adventurers have yet to see in World of Warcraft, and his appetite for devastation can only be satisfied by the shattering of the world. Following his explosive escape from Deepholm, Deathwing will cast a deadly shadow over the people of Azeroth as he wreaks indiscriminate havoc across the land.
Once free to terrorize the world, Deathwing will randomly choose territories in Azeroth to attack each day until his ruinous reign is brought to an end. A blackened sky will be the only warning before every living creature caught in his approach is consumed by his terrible fire. The unfortunate victims of his malice will receive a rare Feat of Strength... as well as a repair bill and corpse run.
When Deathwing returns, you'd best keep your eyes on the skies.
So you could be randomly do anything from picking herbs, grinding, or ganking lowbies when all of the sudden BOOM. It looks like everyone will have their own "The Day Deathwing Came" stories. It will be something that we will talk about endlessly throughout the expansion. I was just minding my own business when Deathwing came owned the zone and killed the mobs I was farming for that rare pet. What would actually be hilarious is the day of launch, at like 1am, he comes in the starter zone and kills everyone and everything. Can you think of the madness that would follow? All the NPCs and Mobs would be dead. No one could level or do anything except wait for respawns. Now that would be something really epic to remember.
For once people will be proud to display their oh crap moments. Would love a statistic on this "Killed by Deathwing". Enjoy yourselves and tell me what you think.

It is Tuesday, everyone's favourite day of the week. The day where people check in to see what will be today's Fail topic. Keeping with the theme of Fail Day the past few weeks I am moving on to the Druid. So sit back and get ready to poke fun at all your druid friends.

- You have no idea what "happy fun time druid" means
- You are resto and don't have ADD
- You find running the flag in WSG difficult
- You don't rape raid members companion pets while waiting for pulls
- There is another tank in the raid with more HP than you
- You argue against cyclone being the most overpowered CC in the game
- You have no problem with being able to pick herbs in flight form
- You complain your class has no versatility
- You think it is one of the harder classes to play
and finally
- You tried to be cool and use flight form just before you hit the ground but died

The Movie Contest
Anyone who hasn't seen all Movie Contest winners you can watch them all here. Now they are all good but to me the 2nd place video is by far the greatest story of them all. I just find the "Love Rocket" the one which came in first place to be rather cheesy and a feel good story. I think maybe "I AM FORSAKEN" takes a path that Blizzard doesn't want to go down. This may also be the reason that Melvenor's "Home, Sweet Andorhal" didn't even place, since in my opinion was better written and put together than any of them. There is talk that these forsaken videos woobifies the forsaken into something they are not. To me this isn't true at all.
There is a difference to being all happy about being undead and having Sunday morning pancakes then making the people pay for the life you are now living. Sylvanas is the prime example of this. She accepts what she has been given, but of course she wanted to seek revenge against Arthas and those who would stand against her now. The Forsaken themselves are a redemption story. Hence their name "Forsaken" they were castoffs. These were once members of the Alliance which now wants nothing to do with them. Imagine how that would effect you. It would be like you losing everyone you knew because someone came a shot off half your face. You lived but no one wants anything to do with you.
So because of this attitude 1 movie, which of course should have been included with the winners is excluded and of the movies included in the winners circle the best one didn't even win. Maybe it is just me though. Watch the 4 videos in the from the link above and then watch the movie below and honestly tell me which is the best.

Ask Gauss
It is Sunday, which means it is time for Ask Gauss. The day of the week where I go through and pick questions to answer for you all. What was your favourite part of Blizzcon?
Besides the kid breaking his leg in the dance contest? I have always enjoyed the lore panel mostly because we get hints of where the story is heading. We learned so much of the story that is going to happen. Thrall could be the next Aspect of Earth, Kalecgos is going to be the new Aspect of Magic, Thrall is going to meet someone and finally end the stupid Jaina rumors, Illidian redemption is possible, and when you see Deathwing in Cataclysm he will kill you and not just say next time he will. So many stories all coming to the forefront and definitely a great time to get involved in the lore of the game. So ya I think that was probably my favourite part of Blizzcon.
The Cataclysm Cinematic didn't have Worgens and Goblins in it, what you think about that?
I am 100% glad they were not in it. Think about the Burning Crusade trailer where they showcased Illidan, the draenei and blood elves. It seemed to much and didn't get much out of it. Then compare it to the Lich King and Cataclysm cinematics. You actually saw the story of what was about to happen. What you will be going through and what you will be facing. Deathwing is a super badass they want you to understand that. I think the cinematic did an excellent job of showing off Deathwing and all he stands for. Not to mention made me want Blizzard to do a CG movie.
Was the stream for Blizzcon worth it?
I enjoy many of the panels, contests, and tournaments so for me it is worth it. For someone who is just interested in a couple things I would say just watch it on youtube the following days.

The Dance Contest
So for all of you who didn't get the chance to watch the dance contest I will give you some information before you go out and watch it on youtube. First of all the guy who won by doing the Dwarf Male dance, just wow that really was something to watch. The ninja crew doing the Goblin Male was also pretty good. What is everyone going to remember about the dance contest though? Well it is already all over youtube.
Yes he went out their and "broke a leg" maybe he took the expression to seriously. "So Daniel, how did you break your leg?" I was dancing in the dance contest at Blizzcon and while I was rocking out I fell. So at least he will always be remembered and be "that guy" they talk about every year. Remember last year? Now you have to sign a waiver before you go out there and compete in the dance contest we don't want another "Daniel from Arizona" to happen this year. To all of you who think it is wrong for me to be laughing about someone breaking their leg, did you see his face when he was being carried off? He knew then this would be a moment that he would never live down in his life. I am just helping to make sure that it never is.

Fun, Fun, and More Fun
It is Friday,first day of Blizzcon for those interested, and with it being Friday it is time for the Reader Post. This week I asked people to submit some of the fun times they have had since 4.0.1 has hit. So let's hear about some of the fun.
I have enjoyed playing a getting a max level rogue without ever playing a rogue. I am referring to my pally who has basically the mechanics of a rogue. It has been kinda fun and I haven't completely decided if I like it or not, but I am sure there are plenty of people who are complaining and plenty of people who you can make fun of.
I have enjoyed being completely overpowered as a mage. I am doing stupid amounts of damage and I am feeling like I am the a DPS God. I am hoping it stays this way because I am liking the play style and who doesn't like owning face?
The Zoo. Otherwise known as my stable. I have a insane amount of pets and no word of a lie I went to babynames.com to figure out what I was going to name them all. Yes, you can make fun but I refuse to have a pet named "Cat" or "Owl". I am liking the fact I can call pets out of the blue and supply a variety in regards to raid buffs. This plus all of the focus changes I am loving the hunter as a whole.
4.0.1 has made me want Cataclysm to come out tomorrow. Not just because the earthquakes or all that crazy crap, but because it is unbalanced to all hell and I am not really a fan of being super OP or super underpowered. So bring on some more events and let Cata get here ASAP to satisfy my inner nerd.
I have enjoyed spending 10,000g reforging and gemming a countless amount of times. I know AH fiends like yourself are probably loving people like me, but I don't care. You realize that this is the first time in I cannot remember that I have enjoyed specing, glyphing, and gemming because it is new and exciting. I am going to the dummy and actually testing things out and having fun with it. So you can count your gold, but it has been awesome.

Blizzcon 2010
Since today is Thursday and generally most weeks have Friday coming after Thursday and with Friday being the Reader's Post I will post my Blizzcon stuff, which beings tomorrow, today. So if upon reading that sentence you have no clue what I was saying it translates into "I am posting Blizzcon stuff today and not tomorrow since I have a post planned for tomorrow".
So Blizzcon. What I always look forward to is the contests, those being the costume, sound alike, and dance contest. I always enjoy watching people making idiots of themselves, trying to win a prize. Some people actually are pretty intense about the competition and take it insanely serious. This is especially true in the dance contest. If you are not getting the feed or going then check them out on youtube after they are over I promise you won't be disappointed.
Another thing I am looking forward to is Cataclysm discussion which is going to take place. Revealing more information about the game itself since, we are drawing so close to the release date. The class panel is always interesting along with the open questions of the audience. It really shows you how much effort they put into making the game what it is. Ghostcrawler also seems to enjoy doing it as well. It is not something that is like pulling teeth for him or his team. They like that you enjoy their game and want you to understand why they have done the things that they have done.
Last thing I am looking forward to is the "big announcement" there is always one. Last year the big one being that the next Expansion was Cataclysm. So time to sit back and wait and see. I'll be sure to get all the Blizzcon information I can into Saturday's blog till then sit tight.

Raiding A Success?
So yesterday we went into ICC and despite all the changes that everyone has gone through with all the class and spec differences, and not to mention people being completely bored with content we had a successful raid. We were not only able to raid, but we were able to complete heroic modes as if the patch really never happened. Although I was scared on Marrowgar since the first two sets of bone spikes only spiked one person and the other 2 people who "would" have been spiked instantly died(nice glitch there btw).
I was quite impressed with how high the DPS was beating our old Deathbringer and Festergut records by 45 seconds. Healing seemed to be a little bit more difficult at least from seeing the HPS numbers. They don't seem to be as high as they were pre patch, but it is managable. With the increase in health pools this isn't much of an issue, but I guess we will see when we do Dreamwalker this evening. I made it a short raid because it went so well and we stopped just after Plague. I think the main thing was people after the raid telling me that it was the first time in awhile that they were having a lot of fun raiding. To me this is a great thing, since with all the content seeming old it is difficult to have a great time raiding at the moment.
With only really, maximum, 2 weeks left on my guild's raiding schedule before Cataclysm this is a great thing to be experiencing. To be stopping because it is a choice and not because something is forced upon us.

Oh My That Is One Pissed Off Dragon
I am, of course, refering to this
This can be really only be referred to as EPIC. Deathwing as I have been stating for months is really the ultimate villain. He hates everyone and everything, and his only goal is to destroy Azeroth and everything it stands for. We also get a full look at all the destruction that will come. The scene outside of Booty Bay and the tidal wave along with him letting all of Stormwind know how pissed off he is. By far the best Cinematic Blizzard has done, and I thought the Lich King one was being amazing in itself. This just tells you how awesome I think this one is. For those that couldn't wait to see Cataclysm then watch this it just makes December 7th seem so much further away.
Try not to keep watching it over and over.

Ask Gauss
So it is Sunday and to take words out of someone's mouth, Deal with it! Anyways, on Sunday as most people who have read anything I write know, today is Ask Gauss. The day where I go through the wonderful thing known as "mail" and answer questions I have been asked. Of course, I cannot answer them all, so I choose 3. So here goes.
How do you think the release of 4.0.1 went?
Well I don't know how many of you experienced the previous .0 patches, but in relation. 2.0 was a nightmare nothing worked, tons of in game mechanics were buggy, and the world server was going up and down for days. This was normal for all the patch days of old. We all had gotten used to it. 3.0 was much better except for the fact 70% of the mods did not work and were unable to be updated for weeks. Blizzard changed some of the normal coding and made the developers of the addons have nightmares. The servers were much more stable and we actually were able to raid without issues. So this brings us to 4.0. Servers came up a little later than expected, but when they did they were stable. The mod issue was much better because I think many developers learned from the past mistakes and were much more prepared for it. The difference was the game changed a lot and many people have had to relearn to play their class more so than ever before, which isn't a bad thing just changes the way people perceive if the release was a success or not. So with everything that went on on Tuesday and everything that changed I would say this was probably the most successful .0 release patch. This is a good omen because it means 5.0 will probably continue the pattern.
Would you turn someone down from joining your guild based on their name?
Well I cannot say I have ever turned someone down because they have problems with naming their toon within Blizzard's rules, but still make themselves out to look as if Bagellord surpasses them in intelligence. I am not saying everyone who joins has a name which is not borderline moronic because that would be a lie. So I will not say I wouldn't because they one of you will create a random toon with the most ridiculous name in the history of Warcraft and then ask for an invite and will have to take what I just said. So I will go with yes to cover myself from the madness that would ensue.
What is your favourite critter in the game?
Well I thought this was a very interesting question but how could I turn down a critter that I have these memories with.

It's Almost Like, Talking to a Llama Action Figure
So I submitted a ticket yesterday evening in regards to being able to ignore an entire person's account. This way I would not have to ignore every toon because obviously when new toons are created I have no knowledge of them. So I submitted the ticket and, of course, with Blizzard's amazing ability to answer tickets in a timely manner it was not answer while I was still online. So I log on about 30 minutes ago and like oh my god I have a response! The planets align and I think my prayers have finally been answered. You know that feeling, when your ticket finally gets answered it is like you just running around wired like a kid in a candy store.
So I read the response and it has to do with Level rollback. Like seriously? Did this GM even read my ticket? And what kind of moron wants a level rollback anyway? Probably some idiot who wants to play a twink. Anyways, don't you think they would double check their response to their tickets? You would think that would be the case. He goes on to talk about putting something in the suggestion forum like I could even give a crap about that, and offers me a chance to fill out a survey on how well my ticket was answered.
Now I had the problem of having to make another ticket in regards to this one, which doesn't seem like much of a problem, but think about it. I cannot use any profanity or insult him/her or his mother. This is much more difficult then one would think, when you are not in the best of moods because of someone else's, namely this morons, inability to do his/her job correctly.

Bored?
So it is Friday and this week I asked people to send in what they are doing to get out of the boredom funk while waiting for Cataclysm. So maybe this will help out a lot of the Nation as we have still have over a month and a half to go.
I have been joining 5 man heroics and trying to get kicked. Sometimes it is easy and sometimes it is not. I find it much easier when I queue as a healer or a tank since the death toll seems to rise much faster.
Running all the instances that drop mounts especially ZG. I have wanted that tiger forever and I get this feeling that I am never going to have my very own Battlecat.
LOREMASTER! I want to get this done before all the quests I have always wanted to do will be gone forever. I have learned so much about the lore of this game and understood so much more the reason of why many of these instances exist. I would say to anyone that it is a great experience to take part in.
I have been going all around Azeroth taking as many pictures as I can. All the zones will be changed forever and I want to be able to look back and see how they were Once upon a time.
Apparently this week everyone was looking for ideas to get out of the funk and didn't have a lot to offer besides complaining that they were bored. Hopefully this will help.

Return To Arms
After playing Arms yesterday I realized how much I missed it. I was never a fan of dual wield even if I had the giant two handers. Maybe it is just my play style. A Fury Warrior is supposed to be reckless and a raging berzerker. Now not that this isn't fun to do once in awhile, but it really came down to just an ADD type DPS where you are just mashing buttons and saying "I am awesome I have two two handers!". Arms is a much more controlled and fun play style for me. You have to watch your rend and procs and make sure not to miss any. It is a much more difficult spec to play and much more rewarding when you do it well. People would say to me you're amazing you just did such and such DPS and really I would be thinking I was really only press 2 buttons back and forth. As Arms you have more of a sense of accomplishment when things go well. It is the reason I always wanted to play a DPS warrior. The Arms Warrior itself was modeled after Cairne. The very reason I chose to pick a tauren. I plan to make him proud as long as Blizzard keeps it as an opportunity.
So getting back to my Arms Warrior roots gets me back to this old awesomeness. Guess I will have to go take a picture of myself before this expansion is over to fit in.
Hopefully my Level 80 finishing shot is just and menacing as these ones.

4.0 Warrior Hell
So I know many classes have changed completely, and everyone has to relearn their classes. I know compared to all other pre-expansion patches this will be one that I will have to do the most tweaking. I also think this is a good thing. I will be going back to Arms the reason I started playing a warrior as DPS. It is a more fun spec to play and isn't just about mashing buttons. Fury just isn't worth it anymore and they have taken away the fun of the "BIG NUMBERS". So as I am along with all of you going to relearn how to play. I will leave you with something someone named Ruzu wrote on the warrior forums. It is directed towards warriors, but I think it can apply to everyone

I've noticed that quite a few of you are doing this already. That's great. Really, it is. You guys are going to be the ones setting the standard in the next month or so, and even moreso when Cataclysm actually comes out. Keep it up. You can go out and kill everything that moves while I lecture the crybabies.
But the rest of you: Man up. Wax your sword, polish your armor, bathe your axe in the blood of the opposite faction or whatever motivates you to USE the thing instead of hanging it up lest it rust from your tears of anguish that your class has had its goddamned cheese moved.
Warriors have changed. Yes. Changed. There's a lot of that going on right now in the game, in case you haven't noticed. And a lot of you are approaching this with a level of stoicism and chutzpah that makes a Woody Allen role look like Warlord Saurfang. Did you trade your rage bar for Tears of Bitter Anguish, or have you never had to so much as change your rotation before?
But I understand. Right now, you're confused. You're going through some strange changes. All of a sudden you're thinking of using moves you never thought you would use, your health shot up practically overnight, and you're finding new stats in places where you'd never expect them to grow. But just remember, these are all natural.
Many classes and specs have all-new mechanics to try and work out. A lot of them get new toys. Toys that might seem shinier and brighter and flashier than yours. And if you're mad that paladins have holy power, death knights get a rune system, hunters have 20 pets, druids get a fancy-pants sun and moon and you're there with beat-up plate armor and a glorified pointy stick, well, there's something you've forgotten:
You don't need that crap. You never have.
You cut things. You break things. It's an art that's been continually refined and perfected since that first squirming thing realized it could eat other squirming things. It's your modus operandi, raison d'etre, and other fancy-pants words too. And you're going to mortal strike the paladins where the light don't shine, shatter rune swords, eat every last goddamned one of the hunters' pets and when that druids hits a lunar eclipse you're gonna break the goddamned moon.
So go. Get out there and sunder, strike, and cleave until you've got it figured out. Just because you've got to deal with a few change-ups doesn't mean that things aren't going to die from being hacked in half anymore. You're warriors. You've got the strength of a punch to the face and the simplicity of a punch to the face with all the grace and artistry of a very graceful and artistic punch to the face. And maybe you weren't playing for as long as some other warriors, but take my word for it when I say we've been through far, far worse. And six years and innumerable patches later, they still haven't stopped us.
Now get out there and get back to the murdering. The realms are back up and time's-a-wastin'.

So it is Patch Day today, but besides that it is everyone's favourite day of the week Fail Day. Staying with the the theme of the last few weeks of picking specific classes and making you and those you know not only laugh but feel awful about yourselves I felt this was the perfect opportunity to do the warlock. So without waiting any longer here goes

- You don't have some stupid macro that everyone in the raid complains about when you summon your pet.
- If you think your Blueberry has the coolest names of all your demons
- Even when you were so Overpowered beyond belief you still found something about your class that needed to be buffed
- You don't apply eye liner before raids
- You think seeding is serious business
- You don't enjoy hellfiring yourself to death
- You wonder why you die when you mindlessly lifetap without getting heals
- You don't complain about having to summon someone to an instance because you are there so why couldn't they be.
- You don't have a snarky remark when someone asks for a lock cookie
- You don't have aggro problems
- Your toons hair isn't black
- Even despite your tier sets being some of the best designed throughout the entire games existence you complain endlessly they look bad
- When you pull aggro you blame it on "the dots"
- You keep razorblades by your desk incase someone beats you on DPS
and finally
- Even with Blizzards complete overhaul of the entire shard system you still complain it is stupid and unfair compared to other classes that have just mana
