Future Races
Friday, and with Friday comes thoughts of the weekend and well the Reader Post around here. If you were not aware there is a new Warcraft expansion out. What comes with every expansion? Ideas for the next expansion. Most of the time it always has to do with new races or classes. Since a new class was added with Legion it comes to the idea of new races being added in the next expansion. Mace has plenty ideas for that going forward. So have a read.
Is it me or do people don't like the idea of Vrykul being playable? or don't want them alliance? Vrykul sound very horde, victory or death is so orc like, they'd fit well into the horde, but I think people don't like Vrykul on the Horde cause it's another Alliance based race and as such feel they should be on the alliance while the horde should be looking at fresh new race concepts like ethereals or horde related ones like Ogres or even Arrakkoa.. but I think it's a bit silly, because we shouldn't view every body in terms of Horde and Alliance just because a member of a race is in one faction doesn't mean all have to be. Take Nightborne, they are a different kind of Night Elf, they don't have to join the Alliance, they could join the Horde, didn't the Blood Elves leave the alliance to join the horde too, so they switched sides. What does it matter if Vrykul or Kvaldir are on Horde or Alliance? you still get to play them if they become playable.
However from where I stand, the Kvaldir are looking sweet with the forsaken. The Vrykul initially didn't like the humans, but they followed the Human Lich King, and of course now it's the a strong human connection to the Halls of Valor - the Vrykul just respect strength, so they'll be fine if humans show strength, which they always do in wow - it's not like the alliance has weak races, miniature, but not weak. Well Draenei and Night Elves aren't miniature. Vrykul and Kvaldir would be good counterparts as sub-races. Even as full races, they could introduce them both. But you need something like that.
I'm not sure Blizzard will ever do a Pandaren again, if a race is going to be on both sides, they are going to have to also be physically distinct. So if we had night elves on both sides, Night Elves would be on alliance, Nightborne on horde. Vrykul on Alliance Kvaldir on Horde, they'd only do it like that. They wouldn't do something like High Elves on alliance, Blood Elves on horde, because they look the same, unless they maybe gave Nightborne on both sides, which I've just stated they don't want to do.
But who knows, they are entitled to change their mind. I would say the best option is sub-races, and do to races in next expac what they did to classes, so you have racial halls i.e. capitals, mini quests and race themed quests that explore the new sub-races and the role of the race in the new expansion. WoW races are big enough to each be factions on their own.. think about it. Look at the family associated with each race
Draenei: Broken, Man'ari Eredar (Illidari), Draenei Eredar, Lost Ones
Orcs: Half-orcs, Mok'nathal, Mag'har, Dragonmaw, Blackrock, Hellfire
Humans: Half-elves, Vrykul, Azotha, Stormwind Human, Kul'Tirasian, Gilnean, Alterac
Forsaken: Undead, undead half-elf, Kvaldir, Undead Azotha
Worgen: Night Elf worgen, human worgen, blackhowl worgen
Troll: Darkspear Troll, Zandalari Troll, Drakkari Troll, Raventusk Forest Troll or Amani
Dwarf: Ironforge dwarf, Dark Iron, Wildhammer, Frost Dwarf, Earthen
Tauren: Yaungol, Tauren, Taunka, Highmountain
Gnome: Mechagnome, Gnome, Leper Gnome
Goblin: Gilgoblin, Bilgewater/Steamwheedle/Blackraider/Venture Co etc cartels, Tinker Goblins
Night Elf: Nightborne, Night Elf, Highborne, Cenarion (dryad/keepers)
Blood Elf: Half Elf, High Elf, Blood Elf, Darkfallen
Each group has at least 3, some have like 5 or more, this is incredible diversity in each race, notice how there are several cultures within each racial groups, differing looks physiological variations - they are diverse enough to be factions of their own, they need to use this, and whiles all will not be plalyable, they can have a role in the affairs of the race they are associated, whether as friends or enemies. e.g. High Elf will always be part of the Blood Elf group or vice versa, regardless of whether they are friends or enemies. or even on different factions, every time you see High elves around you are seeing Blood Elf lore expanded and vice versa
It would be nice if Blizzard really made use of this, and you saw a lot more interaction, i love what they've done with classes, if they repeat the same with races, that would be really cool.
Well thoughts?
As always thanks to everyone who submitted a post, this would not be possible without all of you. Enjoy your weekend!

Why A Spell?
As you all know I play a bunch of Hearthstone. Probably more than I should, but hey it is a great thing to do when you are just sitting around. For awhile now something has bugged me. When you go second in Hearthstone you get "The Coin" now". Now I am not arguing weather or not going second someone should get something. They obviously should and "The Coin" is great at trying to balance the case for going second. Why a spell though?
The reason for it being a spell really doesn't make sense. Why? Well it being a spell favours certain classes and cards more than others. It being a spell allows for in some cases an advantage when what it should only be is something to make you even.
If it was not a spell it would still do everything it is needed to do without doing the the extra things it can be used for. Sure there is also the case that it cannot be discovered or casted by Yogg, but neither can toxin or spare part cards or other things like that. These types of "spells" cannot be put into a deck on their own so it makes sense,
Now I don't changing it to a non spell would make much of a difference in the long run in most cases because really there are only a handful of situations this effects, but it is something that has bothered me for awhile. Maybe when they chose to make it a spell it was for balance, but then with the types of cards they have added over the years things can change.
I just believe it is something to look at, don't you?

Clean, Simple, Devious
Wednesday is here and the middle of the week of the first week of school is here. So what does school and gaming have to do with each other? Well there are those games that I played while I was in residence in university. So I figured I would give you all my top 5 games I played in residence.
5. Unreal Tournament
Game which first caught on in my residence where we would face off against the other floors of the residence. Turned into quite the battle and bragging rights all throughout the residence.
4. Age of Empires II
Game which we played for a few weeks because a few other members in the residence were tired of getting owned in another RTS. Game which is fun, but not balanced didn't work out too well for people who were new to the game.
3. Diablo II
Played mostly with a couple others on the floor while we slayed demons again and again in preparation for the soon to be released expansion Lord of Destruction.
2. Counterstrike
This game became the most house involved game. It turned into a massive war between people screaming and yelling across the hall no matter if you were the terrorists or not. Didn't help that you could watch everything unfold after you were killed.
1. Starcraft Brood War
I had loved Starcraft before I went to university, but this made me love it even more. It also allowed me to learn from others more than I ever had. The people I had played with earlier weren't near to the same level as others in my residence. This experience also got me into the eSports scene that I love today. So without this none of that would have been possible.
There you have it my top 5 games I played in my university residence. What were yours? Or what are yours currently? As always let me know in one way or another.

You Fail At Going Back To School If...
Fail Day! Yes it is Tuesday and following a long summer it is time for people to head back to school from everywhere. Now even though I have been out of school for quite some time now I still get this feeling on the day following Labour Day. On those days many things go through your mind besides school so here we go.
You Fail At Going Back To School If...
- You didn't finish getting to 110 beforehand
- You think you will still have time to get to 110 after
- You don't have a plan to complete your Hearthstone Dailies
- You didn't try all the big name games of the summer
- You have no witty comment about No Man's Sky
- You don't have a list of games you are getting in the next month
- You have not made a decision if you are getting the next NHL game
- You have more than 1 RPG currently uncompleted
- You have no reasons to explain why you are going to get or not get the new Final Fantasy
- You have friends you avoided playing Call of Duty with all summer
- You are friends with people who play Call of Duty
And Finally
- You forgot you had school today
There you go this week's edition of fail, hope you all enjoyed it. For those going back to school enjoy for those who aren't well I know you are thinking about it.

Ask Gauss
Sunday! The day where we reflect on what we didn't do on the weekend. Also time to be disappointed with the newest Fear The Walking Dead episode and lastly time to see the questions I am answering for the week. So let's get to that.
Successful launch for Legion don't you think?
Truthfully I cannot remember a WoW expansion which has been so calm without much drama. During BC it was all about mob spawns, during Wrath it was how the zones were too large and players had to travel to far between quests, Cata it was all about how Vashj'ir was the worst possible zone ever created, Mists people couldn't stop complaining about Panadas and how they were ruining the lore of the game, and Warlords people just couldn't shut up about not being able to fly.
No comes Legion and even though the last expansions were minorities complaining about those things they were loud. Now all you hear about is how much everyone is loving the leveling experience in every way.
Are you liking what you are hearing about Civilization VI?
Actually I am loving everything I am hearing about it. I thought after V they would have to do something different to keep from entering the sports game level of "game changing". They did that by creating a space civilization adventure which was fun, but did lack some of the traditional elements that made the game fun. Going back to the traditional game and modifying features to make them more strategic and skillful which makes the game much more fun on the replay and on the multiplayer side. So bring on October 21st.
Is Legion the last expansion?
Are you one of those people who ask that every expansion?
There you have it this week's questions all answered. Hopefully you got something out of it in one way or another. Now feel free to enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Blogaversary, Well Almost
Well it is that time of year, well almost. I thought since I normally don't post on Saturdays and since that is when my Blogaversary is I would do my thanks. On September 3, 2009 I started this blog, which really seems forever ago. It is hard to remember a time when this blog didn't exist. I started it because people were curious how the gamer Gauss thinks and I wanted something to occupy my time and keep me on some sort of schedule.
Well that is how it started and it is still going. I must say it has been a ride through it all, and a great one at that. Sure I started this just being about World of Warcraft and my time there, it has expanded to the gaming world as a whole since then, something that I wasn't sure you as my readers would accept.
I am overwhelmed with the support over the years I have gotten from all of you. Even if it comes to questions if I am dead or not because I missed a post. All of you have something to say regardless with what I am writing about. It could be because you agree, disagree, or maybe even want to pick a fight over something I have written. Who would have thought it would have come this far.
If you would have asked me back then if I would still be doing this I would tell you, that you were crazy. I would have ran out of ideas and no one would be reading anything I wrote. The crazy thing is the amount of people reading my blog has gone up. There are people sharing my posts everywhere from places all over the globe something I would have told you was crazy back when it all began.
So before this gets crazy and too sentimental I wanted to say thanks you are all awesome, and I won't be stopping anytime soon. There will always be fail, always be questions, ranting, and of course Ret Pally's to make fun of.
So cheers and enjoy your weekend.

Simply Awesome
Thursday! This is normally the day where I go off about something that has been bothering me. Or go off about someone who has been saying something and it is driving me insane. So what is it this week? Well really it is none of those things.
As everyone knows World of Warcraft's new expansion was just released and really I have heard nothing bad about it at all. People all around the world are thrilled with it. One thing though that when I first heard about it that I wasn't completely on board about has surprised me.
Order Halls are something that seemed like an interesting idea, but the extent they have gone to make these what they are is something special. They make you feel like a true hero like you are what you always wanted to be in this game. After all you were the hero all these years that has killed the worlds biggest villains and really what did you get from it? Well you get a fancy weapon specific too you and a bunch of people that are looking up to you now.
The quests to get these weapons are fun and make you work for it. They intertwine the stories of the past to what is going on right now. Something I never thought Blizzard would do. They are above and beyond all of my expectations and that just isn't my inner fanboy talking.
Who knows maybe it is just everyone I have talked to or heard things from. If so please let me know. This really has the making of some great story telling coming our way, and I for one am beyond excited about it.

I Would Never Again Grovel For A Place In This World
So Legion is here and what is the big deal everyone is talking about? Well that is all what this week's list is about. My top 5 things which have been added for Legion. Have a look.
5. PvP Online Abilities
In Legion if you were not aware you can unlock new talents with honor earned. This is something Blizzard has shied away from over the years making abilities PvP only but it does make it much easier to balance on the whole.
4. Artifacts
So instead of doing trying to please everyone by giving them the same legendary or allow classes to fell more important than others by offer specific class questlines and legendaries we have Artifacts. Weapons that are iconic and will be customizable so players will have the chance to feel somewhat original.
3. The Emerald Dream
Lore buffs have known about this place for years. For years we also expect and expansion based on it. I was always concerned that the content within the dream wouldn't be enough to support an entire expansion and in the end I guess I was right. Everyone will be able to step inside the dream through the raid instance The Emerald Nightmare. So get ready.
2. Class Orders
So remember all those suggestions and complaints about Garrisons? Well Blizzard seems to have taken them to heart with Class Orders. As it stands now everything most people liked about the Garrison will be within the Order and everything that seemed boring and tiresome will be gone.
1. The Lore
Now for those who know me this is to be expected. This is the Burning Legion we are talking about. There is so many iconic things we could be seeing and I just cannot wait to be a part of it. I'm ready are you?
There you have it, the best things coming in Legion as according to myself. Do you agree? As always let me know it one way or another.

You Fail At Being Ready For Legion If...
Fail Day, and not just any fail day. It is Legion Launch day. By the time you are reading this you are probably already leveling yourself up and just realizing that it is morning. These things happen don't they. So with that in mind there always is someone who isn't ready for something so let's get ready for it.
You Fail At Being Ready For Legion If...
- You didn't take part in any of the pre-expansion events
- You are wondeirng how everyone is playing a Demon Hunter
- You didn't setup your UI before launch
- You have no up to date addons
- You have not read over any of the skill changes
- You don't know what Order Halls are
- You have no idea who the Legion are
- You are wondering where Varian is
- You are also wondering where Vol'jin went
- You decided to main a Ret Pally this expansion
- You can't wait to see the new Garrison
- You are wondering where the Karazhan raid is
And Finally
- You have no intention of playing it
There you have it this week's edition of fail. Hope you all enjoyed it and are all enjoying your time with the new expansion.

Ask Gauss
Sunday! Which means it is time for some questions to be answered while you wonder where your weekend went. So why don't we get right to it.
Legion is almost here. What do you think?
I know this normally is always said, but I think this is the most anticipated expansion and it has nothing to do with the content announced it has to do with the Pre-Patch content. This seems to have social media in an uproar and excited. Everywhere I look people are excited and getting ready to go. Now this could be because so many people have unsubscribed because of the end of WoD, and now are excited to get back at it. Whatever it is everyone is ready.
Will Legion improve WoW subs?
Well I think the subs will definitely increase when the expansion launches and will continue to increase towards the Karazhan patch. The main thing from there is how the following content will flow and how well it is received. Warlords had great opening content, but then it faded and people loss interest because of the repetition so as long as they learned their lesson they I think it will be in good shape. The lore itself may actually keep people coming and staying to this expansion just like Wrath did.
Do you think there will be a Fear The Walking Dead game?
As long as it is not as bad as the show.
There they are the questions for the week. Thank you to everyone who sent something in this week as it would not be possible without you doing so. Now you have permission to enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hearthstone Raging
Friday! So time for a Reader Post and see what is going on with someone. This week's post comes to you from Vinne who is having some real issues with Hearthstone and the way it is currently played. It is weird I always seem to get this type of submissions from Hearthstone and I always end up using them. So have a read and let it be known what you think.
Hopefully you people can help me and provide me any advice on how to bring the fun back to Hearthstone, so I won’t stop playing it, cause it is definitely my favorite game. I don’t want quit playing, but I am feeling forced too. I will try to explain my anger as good as I possibly can. Maybe you experienced it either and found a solution to keep the fun in the game.
I have been playing Hearthstone for like fourteen months, on average two to three hours daily, and I've gotten so much enjoyment out of the game. For me it is really the best game I ever played. I never became bored or tired playing, cause there are so many personal goals to achieve: collecting all cards, build your own unique and strong decks, collect all golden heroes, reach twelve wins in arena and finally, reach the Legendary Rank. My ultimate goal always has been reaching Legendary rank (or at least rank 5) with a control and funny deck. However, month after month I can't pass rank 6.
I’m all fine with Rank 6, but not as it goes on the current meta. I am really, really, really tired facing Aggro Shaman after Aggro Shaman after Aggro Hunter after Aggro Hunter (and with less irritation Zoolock and Warrior Pirate). They always using the exact same fucking 30 cards as everyone else does. They keep hitting your face without any interaction. Today I went from Rank 6 and 4 stars to Rank 11. In all these lost ranks, I only faced ONE SINGLE control deck (and some fucking OTK warriors). And this is not the first time, for like 2-3 months I am quitting the game every day out of anger, thinking myself never going to play HS again. With some good hope and spirit I start the game again, arriving in the same shit again and again. At this point, I am really considering to give up all the goals I have (reach Rank 5+) And when I don't have goals, I just will quit HS forever. I once went from rank 15 to rank 6 in one day using Zoolock, noticing I easily can reach Legend with it, but I hate playing it, and I know other control players don’t like it as well. So going with the flow is not an option for me. Conceding one disgusting game after another against Shaman isn't an option as well.
If nothing will changed very soon (after the following OniK slots), or some Shaman and OTK nerfs will be announced very soon, I’m totally done with HS. Maybe you guys have experienced the same feelings and I am wondering how you dealt with these issues? I still see the potential and having so much enjoyment out of the game but at this moment I am forced to quit.
You might say, just quit and stop raging, but I am finding some ways to keep on having fun. Any advice?
My advice is simple. It is a game have fun. It is how I play. I know certain decks are better to go further and I have played months trying to rank up as fast as possible. I have found more enjoyment in making fun and gimmic decks and just plateauing. Just have to decide if ranking is that important to you.
Enjoy what is left of your weekend.

Horde Vs Alliance Will Always Be
First off I want to state this post will have spoilers associated with it in regards to the pre expansion cinematics that occur for Legion. Again there is spoilers so if you continue beyond this point and don't want them it is entirely your fault.
So in the pre expansion cinematics we see 2 big events. We see the Alliance witnessing the Horde archers lead by Sylvanas leave their posts while the Alliance are down below fighting the Legion. This is from the Alliance perspective and the ending result is what appears to be Varian Sacrificing himself the end result being Gul'dan blowing him up with Fel energy.
The second perspective is that of the Horde where we see Vol'jin stabbed along with Thrall and Baine being beaten back and in serious trouble with the Legion onslaught. Sylvanas calls for a retreat to protect them. The end result is Vol'jin dying to his wounds and Sylvanas becoming the Warchief of the Horde.
Ok so what is the problem then? Well we saw in the original Legion Cinematic that the Horde and the Alliance are on the same page fighting together to face a bigger threat. It ending with Varian saying instead of the typical "FOR THE ALLIANCE" with a "FOR AZEROTH". This is important because it focuses on the two factions being united for the first time in a long time. Now what many are complaining about is that these 2 pre Legion cinematics take everything away from that.
Why? Well the Alliance thinks the Horde left them for dead. They will be blamed for the death of their king. They do not know that Horde did so only to protect their leaders. Now it could be argued they should have stayed regardless, but really was there a point in letting everyone die? To me if you are outnumbered then you have to make the bad call. Problem is this appears to be something it is not. The Horde may be in other circumstances be able to explain, but with the likes of Jaina and Genn in charge this is not going to be possible.
So why do this whole united thing? Well really I believe there needs to be tension between the Horde and the Alliance to make Warcraft, Warcraft. It is the central focus to the universe and no matter what it will always be there. There can be people on both sides of the conflict who connect and trust one another, but it must always be there. So they did this in a way that the factions are united, but each side will really blame the other for each leader dying. So really it just comes down to us the players living with the fact what must be in place in the world.

Let Them Come
So just under a week from now we will be getting ready to step into World of Warcraft's newest expansion Legion. Before it we have had 5 other expansion to the game so why not for a list rank my thoughts on the expansions of the game thus far
5. Warlords of Draenor
I think for the most part this is where everyone will have this expansion. It is not that it was bad it was the fact that the expansion as a whole lacked depth. Also the Garrison while seemed like a great idea at the time really didn't turn out what everyone wanted it to be. Now as for positives the initial questing leveling experience was probably the best they have ever done.
4. The Burning Crusade
Now this ranking might surprise people. Now if WoD was the best leveling up experience Burning Crusade was definitely the worst. Everything was so far from everything else and Blizzard had not yet realized that splitting up the factions would be a good thing. We also had heroics entry based upon reputation which really was a poor way of gating them to the ilvl system that is in place today. Raiding was great if you were in a good guild if you weren't then you were then useless and ran Karazhan exclusively.
3. Cataclysm
An expansion that gets a lot of flack because of the 1-60 revamp that was a major part of the expansion that not a lot of people ever did. The lore of the expansion built on the good that Wrath had started. At launch the heroics were too difficult to what Wrath players were used to, but that was later fixed. Raiding started on the same curve and because of it we saw the LFR added to the game, along with major pillars of Void Storage and Transmog something we wouldn't be able to do without.
2. Mists of Pandaria
With Mists we saw the lore take a new shape in the game and how we were apart of it. Phasing became a much bigger aspect to the game then it ever was and the game was made for all types of players. Something that was needed for a long time rather than trying to make everyone happy at once.
1. Wrath of the Lich King
The expansion which brought many of the features that have made the game as popular as it was. It was also the expansion that made things easier for the everyday player while still giving a challenge to the more experienced player something that was asked for since the extreme difficulty of BC. It really isn't a doubt that this besides being the best received expansion was the most popular time of the game itself.
There you have it my ranking of WoW expansions. What is your ranking? As always let me know what you think in one way or another.
5. Warlords of Draenor
I think for the most part this is where everyone will have this expansion. It is not that it was bad it was the fact that the expansion as a whole lacked depth.

You Fail At Hearthstone Adventures If...
Fail Day! Yes it is that time of the week again where we make sure everyone else knows why they are awful. This week it is going to be all about Hearthstone adventures. Well let's just get to it.
You Fail At Hearthstone Adventures If...
- You didn't know Hearthstone's newest adventure One Night in Karazhan just launched
- You were not aware you play cards against the bosses
- You think 700g is too hard to get
- You think adventures are just cash grabs and offer nothing else
- You complain you need a deck full of legendaries to beat the bosses
- You don't enjoy the comic relief from emoting the bosses
- You believe you should just be able to use the deck you always do
- You hate making gimmic decks
- You always lose and then bitch and complain on the forums
- You think all wings should be able to be unlocked without gold or money
- You have never completed a heroic boss because there is no point
And Finally
- You have never completed one
There you have it this week's edition of fail. Hope you all enjoyed it and even maybe learned something.

Hearthstone In WoW
Monday. Yes your weekend is over and now you are left to do things which may or may not be important. Or better yet left to contemplate how little sense Hearthstone makes sense in practice. So while you are doing that here is Slightly Impressive's take on the whole thing. So enjoy!
Exactly what you were thinking right?
Exactly what you were thinking right?
Ask Gauss
So I took a little impromptu vacation. I know I didn't let all of you know so for all that panicked and thought the world as they knew it was coming to an end I apologize. For those that thought I was just taking a vacation without telling all of you, well have yourself a cookie. Now it is time for us to do the Sunday thing, which means questions. So let's get to it.
So back to Karazhan, what do you think?
Honestly, I love the idea. I think though a lot of people are going to be disappointed when they are actually doing it. Not because it is going to be bad, but because it isn't going to be what Karazhan was. Why do I think that? Well besides the trailer giving the hint that it is going to be very Legion focused it is the fact that they are keeping the old Karazhan up and running just like it is. Meaning they don't want to take that marvel out of the game.
Alarak is coming to Heroes of the Storm!
Yes I know! The all Protross team is so close to becoming a thing. It is interesting though all the heroes they keep adding before Fenix though. Especially because they said Fenix has already been completed. They are probably reworking his style and kit, but having a Protoss unit without him being apart of it seems odd. Let us hope it is only a matter of time.
Are you dead?
Yes I have been replaced by an autonomous robotic organism from the planet Cybertron.
There they are this week's questions. Hope you all got something out of it in one way or another. Thanks to all those concerned as well to my whereabouts good to know people are thinking about you. Enjoy what is left of your weekend.

Forging Doomhammer
Monday, yes time to get over it. With Legion getting closer and closer we find ourselves running out of things to pass the time. Well you may or may not be aware of the newest episode of Azeroth Armory this time featuring the Doomhammer. Now as most of you know I am a fan of Blacksmithing and the work that goes into it. So if it is not your thing then so be it to the others sit back and enjoy the show.
