Super Happy Fun Times

Wednesday, the middle of the week and we are all wondering what we are going to do before we all are overly prepared to die playing Dark Souls III tomorrow. So with that in mind i decided to make this week's list about the hardest bosses in the souls series

Capra Demon - Dark Souls

This fight is like being trapped in a horror movie with no way to get out. I swear this must have given people nightmares.

Gwyn - Dark Souls

The Lord of Cinder brought out those people who always party up for bosses. Pretty sure my death count may have reached triple digits on this one.

Flamelurker -Demon's Souls

Now you may say just use phantoms to beat this guy and you are set with a little practice. If you try to fight him fair well then i wish you the best of luck.

The Four Kings - Dark Souls

So it starts out 1v1 and all is good but as the fight goes on the other spirits join the fray and then you get what many consider one of the hardest fights in the series.

Ornstein and Smough - Dark Souls

This isn't only the hardest fight of the series bur definitely the most memorable. It is all about the dance and keeping your timing down to a science. Also one of those that when you get it is always easier the next go, which is something i appreciate.

There you have it this week's list. What do you think? Agree or disagree as always let me know.

You Fail At Being Ready For Dark Souls III If...

Fail Day! Oh yes it is that time of the week again. This week it is slightly special because one of the favourite series is coming out with a new game, which is known for having people playing and failing. That is if you haven't guessed Dark Souls III which you will be able to get your hands on the 24th 2 days from now! So with that in mind let's get to the fail.

You Fail At Being Ready For Dark Souls III If...

  • You don't know the release date
  • You have no interest in the game
  • You expect to have your hand held
  • You have anger issues when you die
  • You think you are a badass who believes Souls games difficulty is overrated
  • You don't know about the new stances in the game
  • You think everyone you will play with will be nice
  • You believe you will always be warned before boss fights
  • You think the Devs care when you rage
  • You did not know there will be fewer maps than Dark Souls II, but the areas will be larger
  • You were not aware the combat will be more focused on speed and tactical decisions
  • You don't know what the gravestones are for

And Finally

  • You haven't played any of the souls games

There you have it this week's edition of fail. Hope you all enjoyed reading it as I did writing it. Happy Dying in a couple days!

Shut Up And Take My...

It is Wednesday the middle of the week and we are finding ourselves here finding out what the list is going to be about this week. I figured after spending some money that there are quite different forms of currency throughout the gaming universe. So why not rank my favourites?

5. Gil - Final Fantasy Series

We are about to see the 15th game and every single one of them no matter the world has stuck to this form of currency. Also there is the whole thing throughout the games of the poking fun of "gold" as a form of currency which is always amusing.

4. Eridium - Borderlands 2

So it was an element which spread around after the events of the first game. Now people are just going about their lives spending it.

3. Studs - Lego Series

So who would have thought these games would be as popular as they are. Not only that they have remained consistent through the games, which is always impressive

2. Souls - Souls Games

So at first thought this is rather creepy, but then it makes you understand why death is so important in the series of games.

1. Bottlecaps - Fallout Series

People hanging on to their 1950s society with something so simple is pretty unique. Not to mention there was a guy who sent over 30,000 bottlecaps to Bethesda to pre purchase the game. Not only did they give it to him, but then they also have an awesome story to tell.

There you have it my favourite forms of currency throughout the gaming universe. What are yours? What do you think I should have included as always let me know!

You Fail At Accepting Death In Video Games If...

Fail Day! Yes it is that time of the week again. The day you realize just how much you may fail at something or just how much you enjoy poking fun at others for failing. Yes, isn't it a wonderful thing. Now for the topic. Well since we have Dark Souls III coming soon I figured it was a great time to talk about death in video games. So here goes.

You Fail At Accepting Death In Video Games If..

  • You don't play Hardcore Mode in Diablo
  • When you die in Diablo Hardcore you submit a ticket to have your character resurrected
  • All deaths are due to lag
  • You think games where you die a lot are bad, unfair, stupid, and dumb
  • You believe Beyond Two Souls got it right
  • You "need a minute" after characters die
  • You stopped playing Final Fantasy 7 after Aerith's Death
  • You instantly go to the forums to complain about poor story writing when people die
  • Your go to is "they are coming back"
  • When it is obvious they aren't coming back you move to "I hate this game"
  • You think the Legend of the Dragoon "approach" is a good one
  • You find yourself staring at the screen for extended periods of time
  • After your "staring period" you slowly get up and turn off the game

And finally

  • You don't want Game of Thrones
There you have it this week's edition of Fail. Hope you all enjoyed it. Happy Dying!

They Say I Can't Lose. I Say You Can't Win

Wednesday and after one day of Bloodborne there really is only one thing on my mind. Some games are just harder than others. Not that I mind it. I actually enjoy when something is challenging and isn't ridiculously easy. Instead of going over what I find to be the most difficult games I am going to do specific fights. You know those boss battles that you actually fist pump yourself when you are done with them. So here are my choices

5. Bhunivelze - Lightning Returns

The final boss of Lightning Returns not only challenges your ability to build a party correctly, but also your knowledge of the game and all its ins and outs. Really there are not many final bosses that make you use all the knowledge you should have gained through playing all in one fight. Not to mention if you happen to not have a couple things in your inventory this boss becomes almost impossible.

4. Alma - Ninja Gaiden

In a series where every boss challenges you in every way imaginable this puts you to the test. You will need speed patience and persision to defeat Alma, but when you finally do one of the most satisfying things you will do gaming wise.

3. Ornstein and Smough -Dark Souls

Either of these bosses on their own would have been brutal. Fighting them together then when one is dead assumes the powers of the others well that is pretty much borderline unfair. You will die countless times learning this encounter, but when you finally get it you may actually stand up and do a little dance.

2. Red Falcon - Contra

So you thought when you killed that alien head you would be done. That in itself could have made this list and no one would have said anything about it, but no you then get to fight the real deal in probably the smallest possible area with no room for error. This actually borders on the unfair and impossible line.

1. Mike Tyson - Mike Tyson's Punch Out

Now we all know the real Mike Tyson has some issues, but it was a whole different story when this game came out. The gaming rules of the day where that games needed to be brutally hard and this was no exception. I am still of the firm belief that you needed to know the pattern to beat him because the control you were using wasn't quick enough to respond to what you saw. The new Wii version doesn't give this justice for this very reason.

There you have it. Agree or disagree you know the deal just let me know. As I am sure there will be plenty of backlash on this one.

What is Bravery, Without a Dash of Recklessness

Now Dark Souls is mostly a reminder video games cans till be brutally difficult but yet still fun. What many people don't realize is the story behind Dark Souls itself is very complex and interesting. There is also a great deal of mystery with practically everything. So as always when there is mystery it leads to discussion about what is the truth behind everything. This comes in perfectly to this week's Reader Post where Digken has his own theory. Now truthfully I am not normally a fan of it was in their head or they were sleeping or dying in a hospital or such and such sort of theories. Why? Because truthfully anything can come down to that and it also seems like a silly way of ruining a story. On the other hand Digken makes quite the point on how this could go well with the Dark Souls Story. Now obviously there are slight spoilers here so keep that in mind if you keep reading.

In Dark Souls, you are locked in an asylum. But why an asylum? Because you were an undead? cursed? Or perhaps this is all just in your head and that in fact you are crazy and EVERYTHING in Lordran including escaping the asylum was all just in your head. To think about the Dark Souls world, to be cursed. To be able to die over and over is impossible but inside your head what is not possible?

If you think about how the game was designed storywise, it is imaginative yet simple. What do I mean by simple? Simple as the story doesn't present it to you but rather with the lore in items descriptions. If you were the one in asylum, say you went hollow and the entire journey in Lordran is your imagination. This explains how the npcs do not tell you the detailed story. Only bits of lines of dialogue. As for the item descriptions, memories perhaps from his old life? This theory could explain the vicious cycle of NG+, and NG++, so on. You never actually left the asylum and everything was in your head.

In Dark Souls 2, you begin with an eerie introduction where this old woman is telling you about a murky place , a dream perhaps? A woman holding a baby starts to melt and you appear on the ground of a raining forest. Suddenly, you appear on the door of the firekeeper. Perhaps you never got up from that forest, perhaps you already went hollow in thinking there was a place called Majula and some goal you had to go on to break this curse of the undead in order to keep going. If you didn't realize, every npc you meet has some form of memory loss. Perhaps this is a reflection of youself. The process of losing your own mind and that you already went hollow. And wasn't it weird that you could choose a female character or male character AFTER you meet the fire keepers. How the hell can this be possible? A possible explanation is that the moment you started the journey in things betwixt, you are already in your own imagination.

Quite interesting indeed. Not saying I agree but really is something to think about. Things go together pretty well. I would like to thank Digken for the submission and everyone else who sent something in. Enjoy the rest of your Friday and obviously for the coming weekend.
