The Hunt Begins

Here we are in the middle of the week and time for a list. When thinking about this list I started to look to one of my favourite gaming companies Blizzard Entertainment. Now they have provided me with plenty of entertainment over the years and just recently celebrated there 25th anniversary. Pretty intense stuff. So I though today was the day I would give my favourite Blizzard moments from the past 25 years of playing their games.

5. Arcturus Mengsk Inauguration Speech

At the end of the Terran Campaign in Starcraft 1 we heard this speech. It is still one of my favourite from any game anywhere even if I knew Arcturus Mengsk was a bad guy. The speech itself fit with everything and I still listen to it over and over again.

4. Arthas Succeeds His Father

Picking a Warcraft moment was hard, but I think this would have to be it. There has been many great cinematics, but this was all about the change of one of the greatest Lore characters any game has ever witnessed. Even today this moment gives me chills.

3. Zeratul's Death

This moment jumps up the list because it makes me remember all those times I played every single Starcraft game. Zeratul to me has been the definition of Starcraft and always the character I would explain when trying to get people into the game and its story.

2. Error 37

So Diablo III was one of the most anticipated games ever to be released. It also was planned to be released everywhere in the world at the exact same time. It didn't go as planned. The servers were not ready for the world. Now as much as this was slightly disappointing it was also a night I will never forget.

1. November 23 2004

This was the day I stepped into Azeroth for the first time. Gauss was created and started his journeys throughout Mulgore. It was really surreal being in the world that I had spent so many times in with the previous Warcraft games. Really was something special.

There you have it this week's list. What are your favourite moments from Blizzard games in the last 25 years? As always let me know in one way or another.

May The Earthmother Smile Upon You

Honestly I really have no idea how to truly write this post. It is really weird also that I feel something like this deserves a blog post on its own. You see a couple years ago I stopped doing something, something I enjoyed doing for quite some time. I stopped because it wasn't as fun as it used to be and I was only doing it because I felt I had to. It is not like this anymore.

Over that time I have been asked again and again to play again. "Things have changed", "We were talking about old times", "Your name came up today", "Don't you miss it?". Day after day month after month. I would be lying if I said I didn't miss it, because I did. I missed tons of things about the game. There was also things I didn't miss about it. So I would say thanks and continue on with my day.

Over the last couple months though it has been different. Mainly since Blizzcon where I truly have missed it more than normal. I have been talking about it much more and not just about the lore and the story, but about the game itself. Did I actually want to pick up the game again and play, or was this just something which would fade. So I let it be. I have been happy playing all these other games lately not like I didn't have anything to do, plus there has been the holidays.

Then came Monday when Safiree and Khulk were, putting it lightly, pestering me about it. So I thought about it more and Tuesday I made the decision. The decision all of you probably know by now. Gauss will be returning to World of Warcraft. I am not making any promises of how long I will be playing or how exactly I will be playing. Today though I will be there. As it will be my first day back. Feel free to say hello I am sure there will be a lot of you doing so.

Ask Gauss

Sunday! If you were not aware of it that is the day that today would be. Unless you live on the other side of the world and if you do well you are pretty used to people not knowing what day it is there. So I know it is not Sunday there, but obviously I don't care. Sunday though means it is time for Ask Gauss, the post of the week where I answer a few of the questions I received during the week and answer them right here on the blog. If you are unsure how to send in your questions well look to the heavens and by the heavens I mean the top right of this page where there is quite a few different ways to find me and get in touch. So pick one!

So what are your thoughts of SC2 currently not on the docket for the next MLG?

This is actually an interesting turn of events. I think it is hilarious all the uninformed people going on and on that this means Starcraft is dying as an ESport. MLG basically shit the bed on this one and didn't get the licence from Blizzard for the event. In doing so Blizzard sold the licence to another party some believe this to be Redbull. This is not confirmed and is just a rumor, but that is what is floating around. Now the real question would be why did Blizzard sell the licence to another party? Now Starcraft is far and away the best viewer Esport at MLG and basically at any other event it just is a much better for spectators then LoL, CoD, or Halo will ever be. So how will this effect MLG numbers and their premium passes? If I had a premium pass for the year I tell you I would be very upset there may not be any SC2 at the Fall event.

Why is Gauss your namesake?

This is pretty simple. Gauss was the best at what he did. Greatest Mathematician who ever lived in my opinion. He was able to accomplish many things others thought were impossible and he wasn't shy about letting others know he knew his shit. One of my favourite Gauss stories happen when his wife was on her death bed. The doctor came in and said "Your wife is dying you should come" he replied with "Could you tell her to wait I am almost done." Yes that happened. Always focused on the task and hand and always trying to achieve the best in whatever he did. So truly is there any better namesake?

Wireless or wired mouse?

Is this a real question. Did you ever lose a hardcore character because your wired mouse batteries died?

There you have it questions answered for the week. Hope you got something useful out of them. Enjoy what is left of your weekend

The Return

So before I start writing this, I know what you all are thinking. Where did I go? Stopped writing without warning didn't answer any emails like WTF GAUSS???. Many of you thought I was dead. Not kidding. In fact I was even linked to a series of blog posts about how that must be the case. So before I write about anything I believe I owe you all an explanation.

Warning:If you have the attention span of gnat or tend to curl up in the fetal position and cry when you have to read too much or could careless about an explanation. Scroll down. You will know when to start reading again I made it rather obvious

When I started this blog it was a blog about my adventures in World of Warcraft. I wrote about anything on my mind WoW related. Sometimes funny, sometimes completely meaningless, somethings insulting, and sometimes frankly I had no idea what I was writing about it the words just ended up on the page. For some reason or another you all enjoyed it. No matter what it may have been. I started getting requests on a massive scale and I did my best to make people's visions come to life. The blog evolved and I had specific days people would look forward to for a particular post. Fail Day being the most recognizable and popular of them all. The best part of all of this is I enjoyed writing them all. No matter how hard at times it was to write something I think you all would enjoy or that I thought had enough of "Gauss" to make it worth reading.

As time went on I started writing about other things and not just WoW. No one complained and I thought for the most part everyone just enjoyed reading what I had written(no matter how poorly) regardless of the topic, but  I never forgot how it all got started or where most of my readership came from.

Over the last few months before I stopped writing I stopped playing WoW. Not because I didn't enjoy the game, but because I wasn't playing it how I wanted to. You see when I game I commit to it, and want to play at the highest level possible. I didn't have the time myself to commit to leading a guild and raid leading like I used to. My progress slipped and I wasn't happy and I knew I could never be happy playing WoW causally.

I did though continue to write, but I got to the point where I felt as if it wasn't right for me to go on writing especially about WoW when I didn't play the game anymore. That is not to say I wasn't informed, far from it really, but I was an outsider. It felt like I was betraying part of my readership, the ones who were there from the start. So I stopped writing cold turkey without even thinking. I wrote a posts explaining why, but never posted them no excuse really. It felt even more worse as time went by and reading the countless emails I received asking "what happened?". Yes, I did read every single one. Sadly, I didn't reply because I knew all of you would convince me otherwise.

But I came to that realization myself. I enjoy writing this blog no matter how awful I am at actually putting words together. I still have an opinion about everything, and I still have no problem at calling people out for being that special kind of stupid. So I am back to put those Adventures of mine into words. So this world that has existed without Gauss' Adventures?

So there is that long winded explanation, which some of you may have actually read. So what will I be posting about then? Who the hell knows. I still know more about Warcraft Lore then Red Shirt Guy, still spend too much time playing video games, and of course have a soft spot in my heart idiots of all shapes and sizes. So no worries there will be plenty of facepalms, spitting out of your drink, and aloe vera needed for a long time.

Before I forget and anyone asks Machinima Mondays, Fail Day, Ask Gauss, and the Reader Posts will all be returning. I have also updated the look of the blog because I can and that includes the sidebar which includes how to get in touch with me among other things.

Like A Boss

So I had this idea if I was a boss in WoW what would the encounter be like. I am pretty sure I would want it to be able my frustrations that people have done over the years. So here goes my release!

Abilities

Banishment of the Slacker: Right on pull I would instantly kill the person who got back last and held everyone up. Saying something "Run back now you damn slacker, and don't bother repairing like you do after every stupid pull".

Punishment of Failure: Scream "Who heals and who fails?". Upon finishing throws all ret pallys across the room and gives them a movement speed debuff. Therefore by the time they get back to the boss they are thrown back once again.

Incompetence: While there are spots of fire all over the room if you stand in one for more than 2 ticks you will be frozen in spot have a giant arrow on your head and laughed at while you die to the fire.

Test of Idiocy: You are marked for a challenge you must turn and run to the other side of the room. If you do not make it in time you will explode and instantly kill anyone within 100 yrds of you. This feat can only be accomplished if you fail and keyboard turn.

Stack of Power: One random person is marked. Everyone must stack on this person to either heal or DPS. Not close to them, but directly on top.

That's What Friends Are For: When this casts anyone within 10yrds of anyone else is killed. Spread out you have no friends.

Deadly Barrier: Throw up a barrier that when any DPS is done after it has gone up the person is instantly killed. ie STOP DPS. If you die to this ability "Stupidity has no Cooldown" is spoken.

That is all I can think of for now that I could actually turn into something. If you think of something else be sure to tell me. Enjoy the weather and your weekend.
