You Fail At Not Caring About Previous Devs Tweets If...

Fail Day! Yes here it is again and what are we to do? Well we are, of course, gong to poke fun at people as we always do. Otherwise it really wouldn't be fail day wouldn't it? As for the topic this week? Well I have had people comment to me time and time again about what this person said and about what this person said about their former job, when really who cares? So I just had to take it upon myself to make a fail day post about it. So here we go

You Fail At Not Caring About Previous Dev's Tweets If...
  • You proceed to constantly blame former employees for things they did to the game you play
  • You are a professional complainer
  • You check in with MMO Champion every time there is a tweet update
  • You hashtag former employees in your tweets to new employees
  • You ask them what they would do different now like it would matter
  • You look forward to people quitting or getting fired so you can then follow them on twitter
  • You feel you can trust what disgruntled employees say
  • You believe it is your right to point out all their flaws
  • You never miss an opportunity to remind them of past mistakes even if they weren't their mistakes
  • You believe you know everything about game design
  • You feel former Devs own you explanations
And Finally

  • You don't play LoL and read Ghostcrawler's tweets

There you have it this week's edition of Fail. Hope you all enjoyed it and got something out of it.

Ask Gauss

Sunday! Yes your weekend is coming to a close. I know it sucks and I am probably in worse shape then you are. I did though wake up to answer some questions so you all have something to read while you are in recovery. For those not aware of how to send in your questions there is a variety of ways to do so listed on the top right of the page or you can just straight email me at gaussafication@gmail.com. I will answer your question regardless if it makes it on to the weekly post or not. So now let's do this thing

Do you think it is right for someone like Ghostcrawler to be tweeting about WoW things now that he is away from it?

Now I assume you are talking morally not if he is actually allowed to. Now first off I read all the tweets and really nothing bad so said. They way he was talking he was giving insight into the process everything goes through from a Dev standpoint. This outlook is really appreciated in my books and really lets you know the mindset of a developer. So to answer no I don't have an issue. The ones I have an issue with are the ones who were are let go and just go off about everything out of spite.

The other day you were talking about Muliplayer. Do you think for the exact reasons you were talking about is why AC: Unity changed AC Multiplayer?

Let's be honest. Assassin's Creed Multiplyer before unity was dumb and was a throw in. It really felt like it was just put in so the game itself would have multiplayer. I have been saying since Brotherhood it would be cool to use the Assassin type call thing from that game as a useful tool in adding a multiplayer to the single player game. I think Unity does that while still getting the story across and it not feeling out of place.

Do you have Playstation Plus?

Truthfully I think it is the best value in gaming. Free games each month on multiple systems and lets you play online. Now I understand people don't like the pay for online play crap but I believe it became a necessary evil to improve PSN.

So there you have it. Thank you to everyone who sent something in if I answered it on here or not. This could not be possible without your input. Enjoy what is left of your weekend!

Mitigations Future

Well for all of you that don't know and if you don't and play WoW I really have no clue how you don't, but Ghostcrawler has a blog, which he talks about future considerations for the game. He has gone through many topics and the most recent one is Mitigation. We all know how recently threat was changed to make it easier for tanks to keep their targets and have more of a focus on the actual job of tanking rather than spamming buttons while doing so. As I stated before if this was the intent and not to make things easier for lesser skilled tanks then I agree, because anytime something is more interesting it is in turn more challenging and exciting.

This leads us to Ghostcrawler once again and his current topic, Mitigation. The devs currently don't like how it is boring and not really working the way they want it to. If you want to read the blog you can see it here. But I will give my thoughts on each of the ideas.

Tank DPS Matters

This is not something that I think is really a good option. This basically puts the tanks back in the same situation as they were with threat except it would be a DPS rotation rather than a Threat rotation. This leads to the same issues as before with mobile fights and positioning. So why would they go through all that effort to change the issues from before just to bring them back to make mitigation more interesting.

DPS Buttons Provides Mitigation

This is a model I like. Because it makes the buttons you push matter and they give benefit. Ghostcrawlers example of shield slam activating shield block or revenge giving you a parry buff. I don't see the down side when you may be stressed when you can't keep all the buffs up at once, but couldn't they design so that this style would require skill to keep all of them up not just assume it will be possible for everyone? What would be the purpose of it being so easy.

DPS Buttons Build Resources

This would be kind of similar to the above option, but would let you bank them. Meaning the situation of not having all the buffs up at once could be fixed if you could bank them. Now this could be something I would be all for as long as it didn't lead to trivialization what I was talking above. Everyone should be able to do it perfectly. No one wants to be just as good as everyone else they want something that proves they are better or can be better than someone else.

So there you have it. I recommend reading the blog if tanking is something you are interested in. It goes into specific abilities and talks about what they would like to change them as well. It is a good read, and then maybe you will be able to form an opinion on some things of the changes that may or may not be coming.
