Here Without You

So it is Monday, which has become a tradition over the last few weeks is to showcase a machinima movie. There are so many videos out there and some of the new ones are just absolutely magnificent. Today though I decided to go back to the machinima that started my interest in the world of machinima. This video is "Here Without You". Yes, it is just a music video and the quality and effects don't even compare to some of the great machinima videos out there today. What this video has though is the story like not many others. The story was well thought out and put together extremely well. So sit back and watch it and I will guarantee that this video becomes one on your list and you will always watch.

It is Monday your last day before reset make it worth it.

Ask Gauss

Sunday is upon us once again, which means it is time to put me on the spot with Ask Gauss. Yes the post of the week where I go through all the mails I have received throughout the week and answer some of the questions right here. If you are unsure still how to send in your question it really is rather simple. Click on the link on the top right of the page or just send your questions to gaussafication@gmail.com. Like I said very simple. So lets see what was on peoples minds this week.

So what you think of ZG and ZA returning as heroic 5 mans with 4.1?

First off I think I got this same question like 100 times, seems people really want to know. Well just on them returning I think this is a great way for Blizzard to use content that is already created and make it useful. Like I have always said about heroics they make content that was otherwise termed to be useless because of level useful again. People will go on and on about recycled content this and that, but I would rather them have useful recycled content rather than worthless content from past expansions just sitting there doing nothing and never used. I would be completely fine if they turned all of the dungeons and raids into heroic content for the current expansion, although some raids would be rather difficult to pull this off because of the Lore and flow. ZG and ZA really don't connect lore wise to anything else, which brings me to my next point.

Why now? They bringing these two trolls instances back for a reason? Will we know about the connection between Hakkar the Houndmaster and Hakkar the Soulflayer? Just some questions to throw out there.

So finally a caster Legendary into the game, what do you think it will be?

Well what classes would it be used by? Druid, Mage, Priest, Shaman, Warlock. This is of course if there is going to be available to all casters including hybrids. If this is the case there would have to be multiple options means a sword or dagger, since some of the above classes cannot use either. There is some talk that Druids, Priests, and shamans have had their chance at a legendary and therefore will not be involved in the "caster" legendary at least this time around. This leaves us with a Mage and Warlock as the possibles and in all honesty I would prefer a sword as a legendary anyway just for graphical purposes.

How do you think the new CoT instance will work?

Well in truth there will be a post about this in the coming week. And I urge you to read it. Will have to do a lot about the infinite flight, Deathwing, and Nozdormu.

That is it for this week. Once again thank you for all the questions and if they don't get on here just know that I do answer them, and most of the time in a manner that you have not aged significantly by the time you get my reply. Next week's Reader Post is going to be about what Caverns of Time instances would you like to see. As always you have till Thursday night to get your submissions in. Enjoy what is left of your weekend.

I Do Therefore I Yell!

There are things in WoW that we say or do that are something special to us or those we have come to play with. They are the things that make us who we really are as a player. My Trademark of the yelling of Pi with the slaying of Alliance in BGs started way back in Vanilla WoW during my quest to become High Warlord. Most Alliance had no idea what it was because of the translation, but everyone I played with knew it and began to expect it of me. Today this has translated into a tradechat phenom, but many still remember its roots. I spoke during the last Ask Gauss that I yell "TOO INFINITY AND BEYOND" whenever I heroic leap, and this, of course, is just one of the few things I have listed as yelling macros. So when thinking of a Reader Post topic this came directly to mind. I wanted to know the things that the Nation yells so let's see what you all came up with.

"Where do these stairs go?" This gets said mostly in BC raids. I have noticed that there aren't a lot of Wrath raids or Cata instances with stairs. If you have to go between levels, there are ramps or elevators. The Black Temple climbs are no more. "Go get 'im, Ray!" That lets whomever is going to pull know the group is ready. "Don't do it! Don't do it! If you shoot him, you'll only make him mad." This comes up usually before a tricky pull or after repeated wipes on a boss.

When I cast Bloodlust I tried to type out the actual noise that was made. I came up with "MouuGHERRaahHGerraHHGRAHROWWLL"

Well when I am rezzing someone I yell "STAY AWAY FROM THE LIGHT (their name)", I also have "Give me 2CCs of Epinephrine this one isn't dying on me now!"

Bloodlust is the coolest spell in the game. When I cast it I yell "Let's make biscuits! LET'S MAKE BIS--KUTS!"

Whenever I kill anything I yell "Ashes ashes they all fall down.... " I have been even caught on vent singing it at times.

I have thought of everything to get people to click on the lightwell. My newest thing is this yell macro."Ok I drop the stupid lightwell you can make it worth while by clicking the damn thing like a good dps"

"GET TO THE CHOPPA!" is my wipe macro always makes the new people laugh.

I have my wolves coupled with /y NOM NOM NOM NOM

Pull yelling macros rule "FOR NARNIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!" or "LEEEEERRRRRRROOOOOOOYYYYYY!!!!!!"

And there we have it. So keep on yelling those things that either drive people mad or make everything that much better, and who knows maybe even both at the same time. Enjoy your weekend!

Starter Notes For 4.1

So yes the starter notes have been released for 4.1 and I just wanted to comment about a few things. First this

  • Zul'Aman has returned as a level-85 5-player Heroic dungeon featuring a revamp of the original dungeon and improved loot!

  • Zul'Gurub has returned as a level-85 5-player Heroic dungeon featuring all-new encounters, achievements, and improved loot!

  • Both dungeons will be in a new Dungeon Finder difficulty tier above the current level-85 Heroic dungeons and offer epic-quality item level 353 loot.

So as Blizzard stated from the get go Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep were just the start of Blizzard making old instances into new Cataclysm Heroics. My only concern is that these instances especially ZG were long and being a heroic the time frame on them seems to me like they would take quite some time to complete, but we will see.

Another interesting Change

  • We have added two new custom guild tabards as Guild Rewards. The tabards are account bound and offer a bonus to gaining guild reputation.

Wasn't the point of guild reputation being difficult was to prevent guild hopping to get access to specific rewards? My fear as this won't make it simple to gain guild reputation, but it will make it much easier. This may just be me being upset though because I am already exalted with my guild and feel everyone should do this the way I had to do.

Something that doesn't make sense

  • Recuperate base effect now heals 3% per tick, up from 2%.

  • Stealth base cooldown has been reduced to 4 seconds, down from 10, and the movement penalty from being in Stealth has been removed.

  • Tricks of the Trade now has a 100-yard range, up from 20.

How does this make rogues not stupid in PvP situations? I understand this is the start of testing but this combined with the new rogue talent revamp to increase speed while in stealth seems at least to me just a little bit overpowered.

Crazy new warrior ability

  • Rallying Cry (new ability) is available from trainers at level 83. It temporarily grants the warrior and all party or raid members within 30 yards 20% of maximum health for 10 seconds. After the effect expires, the health is lost. It has no cost, no stance requirements, and is not on the global cooldown. It has a 3-minute cooldown, but also shares a cooldown with Last Stand.

Just wow this seems like an amazing a raid wide buff that can also be very effect in arena situations. I will admit this seems like it maybe too much in PvP, but we will see how it plays out.

And the last interesting change

  • All non-damaging interrupts off the global cooldown will now always hit the target. This includes Pummel, Shield Bash, Kick, Mind Freeze, Rebuke, Skull Bash, Counterspell, Wind Shear, Solar Beam, Silencing Shot, and related player pet abilities.

This to me seems like a tank PvE change for the most part since many tanks besides DKs at the moment are not at all a rush to get hit and expertise capped. Although this is also a great change for people in PvP if they happen to not be hit capped.

One thing I think is worth mentioning is these notes are released on the eve of Rift and I am wondering if this is one purpose. I for one don't think Rift is a WoW killer because the End game just isn't there. Also keep in mind that Firelands and the Abyssal Maw are not listed in these changes as of yet. So we know there will eventually be much more changes listed along with quite an extensive testing phase.

Time To Get This Done

So one of the major problems in WoW has nothing to do with game mechanics, classes being over or under powered, abilities that don't work correctly or the idea of 10 or 25 man raiding. So I know you are asking, what is it? Simple, have you ever noticed that everyone looks the same? Yes the problem with WoW is as everyone gears up everyone looks the same. Horde, Alliance, race whatever. There is no way to define the individual. Sure we have the barber shop where you can change the way your character can look, but that doesn't really solve the problem. So what can be done about this? Well it really is a rather simple solution. In other games they have the option of changing the tint or colour of armor sets and this would be a great start for people being more original and finally you could tell the difference between people who have similar gear.

So as this would be a start I have something else to propose. Why not have the option of wearing completed sets you have used in the past. Blizzard has some great artists who have done great work on tier sets, so why not put them to use. So as am example I love the way Warrior Tier 6 looks I would make myself look like that while still wearing the current tier set. People would see a warrior in this gear with the colour I chose then they would know it was me. This not only promotes originality, but also would get players going back into old content and not having it all go to waste. I guess you could apply this to some of the collector outfits as well, such as the Twill. I don't think this should apply to weapons just because of animations and such, but that is just my opinion.

Sound like a good answer to the problem?

You Fail At Not Being Hacked If...

Tuesday is upon us once again! I also have net today so I wont have to go through a mess of emails asking me if I died. People just love Fail Day that much I guess. So today's topic has been suggested by people for awhile now, but I never really thought it was worth doing. This was until Blizzard actually had that community spot about not getting hacked and I found it rather amusing. Yes, be mad at me for laughing at people for being stupid. So for all of you waiting for this particular Fail Day hope it was worth it.

You Fail At Not Being Hacked If...
  • Your password is the name on your account
  • You have ever asked the question "What is a keylogger?"
  • You believe anti virus programs are for noobs
  • You type in your account name and password into a link you received in an email you thought was from Blizzard
  • You told your password to someone over the phone with a foreign accent
  • Someone told you they were a GM and you believed them
  • You click on links in trade chat from toons with names that resemble "Awjpojfihqwcn"
  • You paid someone to power level your toon
  • You bought gold
  • You bought your account from someone in Nigeria
  • Someone named "Blizzardgm" sent you an in game mail telling you that you are going to be part of Cataclysm Beta and you believed them even if you are currently playing Cataclysm.
  • You don't recall the last time you changed your password
  • You log on WoW frequently from an Internet Cafe
  • You share your account information with multiple people some of which you just met yesterday

And finally

  • You were excited when you heard you were a "lucky player"

That is it for this week's edition of fail. To all those people thinking account security is a serious thing it is, but the easiest prevention is not being a moron. Enjoy your Free Loot Tuesday!

Azeroth Daily

So as Monday has seemed to become a custom to show you all a video from the machinima world I came to the conclusion that I actually have never said anything about Azeroth Daily. So what is Azeroth Daily? Well think of it this way, if WoW had a daily newspaper to tell you all the breaking news and such from WoW, along with quest suggestions, artwork, and anything else you can think of that would be in a newspaper about WoW then it would just be a paper form of Azeroth Daily. This is a show done by Totalbiscuit, and if you don't know who Totalbiscuit is you must be living under a rock. He releases this show Monday-Friday and it normally runs about 10-15 minutes in length. So just like if you were to be reading a newspaper that is about how long you would spend wataching it. So if you are looking for something to pass the time and want to get caught up on some WoW news along with some other interesting features then I urge you to watch this show. Just to spark your interest here is this past Friday's show.

And there you have it enjoy your last day before reset. Kill some stuff, make out your guild rep, get your point totals maxed for the week. Whatever your drill is get it done.

Ask Gauss

Sunday is upon us once again, which means once again it is time for Ask Gauss. The post of the week where I go through all the questions from the week and pick a few to answer here. If you don't know how to ask your question it really is pretty simple. There is a link on the top right corner of the page that you can click on or if you have problems clicking on links you can just email your question to gaussafication@gmail.com. So without waiting any longer lets answer some questions.

So I am trying to think of a good pull macro for raids. I know you have had a bunch so any ideas on how to make a good one that isn't stupid?

Well it is true I have had a bunch of pull macros over the years. Some of which have never really made any sense to anyone besides the people I raid with. I can remember countless pug raids where people were clueless what the were actually supposed to do. That is the fun of it though. If you want to make your raids something that is fun and truly is the kind of raid that is made for your group of people those are the things people are going to remember. No one is going to care when you pull such and such a boss for the 100th time, but they still will chuckle or laugh or go on and on about a pull macro that is tailored to all of you. One thing I suggest is add lots of "<<, >>" around the targets name this tends to show that you actually mean it.

Problem that always happens during raids that you hate?

I have been asked this question many times, but never really had a straight answer to it. As most if not all of you know I am Canadian and because of this all keyboards here tend to have the option to activate the French settings. Till this previous week whenever this happened in WoW I would have to exit WoW in order to turn the function off to take effect in WoW. Yes this was very bothersome since the buttons that get assigned to the French letters are all the brackets, colons, dashes, slashes etc. I have these bound to important things like interrupts, trinkets, or potions. So when I normally find out that my French setting was turned on it was always too late to fix the damn thing.

That was until Wednesday when turning it off outside worked on the outside, but then I found out I could press a combination of buttons in game afterwards to turn the blasted thing off without logging in and out of game for it to take effect. This doesn't completely help if I don't notice it before I miss something, but it is better than logging in and out all the time.

Is it true you have a Heroic Leap Macro that you quote Buzz Lightyear?

Of course, when I use heroic leap I yell "TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!"

So that is it for this week hope you all got what you needed out of the post. Remember questions must be asked in order to be answered. Next week's Reader Post is going to have the topic of yelling macros that you have seen throughout your time playing this game. As always you have until Thursday night to get them in. Enjoy what is left of your weekend.

PvP Deaths

So it is Friday, which means it is time for the weeks Reader Post. This week the topic was pretty simple just send in the stories of some of your favourite PvP Deaths you have experienced. After reading all the ones sent in I came to the conclusion that people will really do anything to kill someone in PvP. So here are some of the submissions.

I take claim for the stupid stick for taking the bait. EoTS... fighting over at the Draenei Ruins... About to kill a Hunter who is backing up towards the ledge... well I follow him over and am falling right next to him.... All the while he spams /point /laugh... right before we hit the point where we fall off the screen I land one nice Crusader Strike and kill him... I return atleast 1 /point and /laugh emote before death.

Back in BC at Halaa... me and a mage were fighting a hunter and warrior at one of the flight spots.... The mage blinked and ran right off the cliff.... All 3 of us actually stopped to laugh and look over the cliff to see where he landed. Then I had to bubble and jump off said cliff due to incoming gankage... and the hunter followed me.

So I was doing some 1v1 Arena (Goldshire) and a Rogue challenges me. He was combat spec, mostly epic some blue, so I outgeared him by alot, so I thought to myself... I won't attack him. At all. ...and it worked! Hit shield block when he killing spreed and he bursted himself to death. Not even kidding. Won the duel without using any offensive abilities.

I was in Eye of the storm running to get the flag and every time the retarded ass shaman kept thunderfucking me off the edge. I kept getting frustrated and wanted to beat the bastards head over my knee repeatedly. Except the next time I had a plan I got a deathgrip off on the idiot after he knocking me off the edge and he fell to his death with me. Ya I died like 5 times to him, but the one time I got him made it all worth it.

That is it for this week as always look for next week's topic during Ask Gauss. Enjoy your weekend, but really there is only one way to end a post like this

LFD Hotfixes Coming

So these are the current hotfixes in the works for the LFD system

We're making a number of hotfixes to address use of the Dungeon Finder and vote kick tools. The following hotfixes will require realm restarts to implement, which are likely to be next Tuesday's weekly maintenance.

Players who are outside a dungeon for more than a few minutes are now immediately able to be kicked.

If queuing as a group with a tank or healer, and the tank or healer drops group (or is kicked) soon after joining, those that queued with them will also be removed from the dungeon.

If three or more players group queue with each other it will require an additional vote for them to kick anyone they did not group queue with.

If a group queue of 4 kicks the one person that they did not group queue with they will each receive a more severe penalty to their ability to initiate future kicks.

If someone initiates a vote kick for someone they group queued with they will not incur a penalty to their ability to initiate future kicks.

With these changes we hope to reduce some undesirable behavior and annoyances, and encourage greater patience when using the Dungeon Finder. In addition, keep in mind that both initiating and agreeing to vote kick have always carried the same weight to your ability to kick in the future. It's always best to save your votes for when it really counts to ensure your ability to kick is available when it does.

So what does this mean?

1)Well you wont be able to bully people anymore out of your group.
2)People who are idiots and stay out of the instance will be able to be removed.
3)You can no longer sell your ability to queue to other people.

One change they still need to put in. If someone is absolutely horrible there has to be a way to bypass the timer. I hate having to put up with someone for 40+ minutes if they are the worst player in the history of WoW players. Or the other option just results in you making them feel worse to make them leave as to spare yourself the pain and suffering of playing with them any longer. Other than that the changes aren't bad and I think they will be for the better.

You Fail At Posting On Fail Day If...

So yes I know today is Wednesday and not Tuesday, but I could never pass up Fail Day and apparently no one would let me do so either. So I came up with this great idea for this week's Fail Day Post. So here goes

You Fail At Posting On Fail Day If...
  • You get hundreds of emails if you forgot was Fail Day
  • Fans wonder if they should pronounce you dead
  • Haters laugh and think you ran out of topics
  • People complain you have ruined their day because you have not posted
  • You realize that begging in emails amuses you
  • You spend the day talking to random customer services representatives from Asia
  • It gets reiterated that there really is nothing good on TV
  • You unplug and replug everything in your modem at least 10 times because you have a hope t might work
  • You contemplate painting rooms to pass the time
  • You realize that it has been awhile since you updated your PVR and it has typed shows you have never heard of
  • You are now multilingual in the fact you can now say "hello", "Now", "Whats the problem?", "Are you stupid?" in a variety of languages
  • You contemplate shoveling a driveway that really doesn't need shoveling
  • You almost became one of those people who write their blog posts weeks in advance
  • You regret giving some guildies your cellphone number
and finally
  • Some idiot hits the transformer box which controls your DSL net and as a result you have no net for 2 days

That is it for this week even if it is a day late. Instead of wishing you good luck on Free Loot Tuesday I hope you had a good one, and let's just hope you have a successful Hump Day.

Garrosh Hellscream Isn't Real

So sticking to what seems to be a pattern on Monday I will give you a video to watch. This one has to deal with Garrosh being two places at one time and actually looking different. If you don't know there is a slight glitch where Garrosh in Orgrimmar tells you to go to Northrend and go speak with him. Then after you are in Northrend he tells you to go back to Orgrimmar and speak with him again. WoWCrendor like he always does makes quite a joke about the whole situation. So if you need a laugh take a couple minutes watch the video and have one.

Something else I think you should really take a look at is Veil of Corruption II, which was released on Friday on Warcraftmovies. This was a much ancipated film, which many people myself included have been waiting over 2 years for. I really hope though we are not going to have to wait 2 years more to see the final part of the trilogy. You can watch the movie by clicking on the following link

=>Veil of Corruption II<=

So enjoy your Monday and Happy Valentines Day. I will be making sure my Valentine has a wonderful day so I hope you all do the same for yours.

Ask Gauss

Sunday is upon us once again and besides being the end of the weekend you all know that today is time for Ask Gauss. For those of you who are new or still clueless about everything Ask Gauss is just like it sounds. People ask questions and I answer them, yes I know pretty simple isn't it. How do you ask the questions you might ask? Well there is a little link at the top right of the page or you can just send the emails to gaussafication@gmail.com. So now that I have got that out of the way shall we answer the questions?

How are you liking the 4.0.6 changes thus far?

Well I did Vortex Pinnacle yesterday, for my daily, and I was quite happy with the changes to the first encounter. Not that they made it impossible, but they added some much more complexity to it. Also the changes to wind graphics on the second boss were much welcomed. And finally the Skyfall stars during the Assad encounter seemed to make things much more difficult for the healer, which again is a good change. Now VP was one of the instances that some would say was buffed to bring in line with other heroics and I think they did a good job here in doing that.

On warrior changes Arms pvp has a lot less mobility, and I am sure many people are thrilled with the fact that arms no longer has 3 gap closing abilities. This has made closing the gap more difficult and is going to take some getting used to again. Fury PvE seems to be rearranged in the damage output. I am currently still running with the high hit build as I just feel there is a lot less RNG involved in it rather than the Crit/Mastery build. I am thinking when my gear improves a bit I may find a happy medium that will work better. Also with the recent raging blow nerf I am thinking the draws of the low hit built might come down, but we will see.

On other classes. Marksmen hunters seem to be putting out some crazy amounts of damage at a variety of gear levels. Maybe I am just jealous that warriors are so gear dependant. Ret Pallies can stop crying, but we all know they won't. Resto Shamans still seem to be lagging behind healing wise, while priest are still way far ahead. Mages? Well mages are still doing stupid damage for having absolutely no skill. So as always Blizzard will keep things this way.

So ya those are my thoughts on the patch so far.

What do you think of the drake models this expansion?

Honestly? I hate the way they look. They look too boxy and stylish. The Tol Barad drake isn't that horrible but it looks a lot like a Nether Drake. I think Proto Drakes look amazing compared to all other drakes in the game. The complaint was they were way too big and caused problems. I love the idea of an idle drake on the ground with it wings spread. They brought back the Nether drake style with the ICC drakes and they have stuck with it. I find it boring and not as epic looking. If you showed drakes to anyone who doesn't play WoW and asked them to choose the best looking they will pick a Proto Drake. I do hope they change the course they are going on with these drakes, because I have always thought a mount should be something epic that you strive to have because of its looks and its status. Now it just seems people are not riding drakes for the looks and just the status. Let us hope they fix this and fix it soon.

Have you seen anything new in the WoW community?

Weird that you would ask that. There is a great new site
wowdirectory.us that I just learned about yesterday basically an amazing resource linking you to sites to get you any information you need regarding WoW.

That is it for this week. Hope those answers were sufficient enough for you. If you want an answer just make sure you ask a question. The Next Reader Post is going to be about your favourite PvP death. As always you have until next Thursday night to get them in. Enjoy what is left of your weekend.

Damn That Elevator

Since the start of WoW there has been something which has never failed to make a players day go from bad to worse. That is, of course, the mighty elevator. So with that in mind for this week's Reader Post I asked you all to send in your stories of your elevator deaths you have had throughout the years. So let's have them shall we.

As you probably know when this game first came out the elevator in Undercity was bugged more than anything I could remember, but this one time is the one I will always remember. I arrived in Undercity and did the normally thing heading the the elevator. The door opened and I entered only to realize that some how the elevator platform wasn't there. I fell to my death and quite pissed off I rand back. I get back to my corpse rez at the bottom and then the elevator comes down and hits me and I die again. Yes I died from the force of the elevator hitting me.

We used to always have a kick out of new people coming to SSC. We would tell the new people when they got on the elevator and started moving to jump. Little did they know that the elevator moved faster than them falling and they would end up dying from fall damage.

For some reason my frame rate always dies when I step on the Elevator in Blackwing Descent. Also with being myself and being a good raider I am ready to get off that elevator asap. Problem seems to be I get anxious and get off it early a lot of the time. I would guess that over half my deaths in Blackwing Descent are due to the elevator.

The Scryer elevator used to have my number for a long time. It would always be leaving as I was running towards it and I would just miss it then of course fall to my death because I was mounted and ended up missing the overhang. I also never really learned and would be repeat this at least once a day until I got completely fed up with it and flew down each and every time.

That retarded elevator in SSC I swear to god is Blizzard's evil child. It moves at the speed of light after sitting and not moving for 5-10 seconds. It makes you want to puke. That isn't even the worst of it though. There were these warlocks in my guild who would always summon people on that elevator and they did this while it was moving. Therefore when you accepted the summon you would be falling to your death because that blasted thing would already be 10 light years away. So screw that elevator and the Blizzard employee that designed it.

That is it for this week. As always look for next week's topic during Ask Gauss to have your chance to be part of the fun next week. Enjoy your weekend!

Title Removal

So many of you may or may not have noticed that the requirements for the title "the Exalted" have been changed from 40 reputations at exalted to 50 reputations at exalted. To me this is a good change because with the amount of reputations put into the game now 40 reputations at exalted is an achievement but it is not the amazing achievement it once was when it first came out. I know when I got "The Exalted" it was during the Ulduar days and it really was rare to see. Since then there has been several reps added. Those being the following

1)Sunreavers/Silver Convenant
2)Ashen Verdict
3)Goblins/Worgens
4)Earthen Ring
5)Dragonmaw/Wildhammer
6)Therazane
7)Guardians of Hyjal
8)Hellscream's Reach/Baradin's Warden
9)Ramkahen

I think I got them all, but I could have missed some. This achievement is supposed to be the Reputation achievement. Therefore you should never be able to skip an expansions worth of achievements to get it. This is why it had to switch to 50.

For this same reason this is why I agree with the removal of the title from people who did not have 50. It is because you do not meet the current requirements to actually be "the Exalted". Yes you may have got the achievement and find it unfair it was taken away from you, but you should be respectful of the title and what it actually means. The only titles which should never be removed are the ones that happen to be feats of strength. Why? Because they were for a specific time and place, which in all likelyhood cannot be done anymore.

This is different than my previous opinions about the new rated battleground titles because they are reusing title names and were too lazy to come up with new ones. I also know what you are thinking and yes Chef and Salty should be readjusted for Cataclysm also. Titles are something that need to be earned and not be trivialized because there is more ways to complete them making them worthless in their current application.

Faction Pride In Real Life

Now let me say first I don't say that I approve of vandalism, but this is pretty awesome to say the least. This construction project sign is on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh or at least that is where I have been told it is located. Where though doesn't really make a difference it is the fact that it happened. I am not going to lie though there is times when I see "Alliance One" commercials on TV and I think about yelling at the screen "LOK'TAR OGAR, FOR THE HORDE!".

This brings me to the point I made a while back when I was talking about battlecrys. The faction pride of Horde characters has always seemed to be much more visible. Even when you watch videos of conventions and such there is always cheers when you hear the "For The Horde!" and, of course, the streaming of never ending boos when "For The Alliance!" comes out of anyone's mouth. We know there are countless Alliance players, but it is as if they are afriad to show their pride.

It comes down to what I have said before. The Horde has everything to be proud of. We came from nothing and have built ourselves up to something quite formidable. /Salute to my fellow Hordies and remember HELLSCREAM'S EYES ARE UPON YOU!

You Fail At Avoiding Avoidable Damage If...

Oh yet another Tuesday, which means yet another Fail Day. Oh how I missed you and all the fun you bring to me each and every week. Sometimes I wish there was two Tuesday's in a week then there would be two Fail Days, but then it probably just wouldn't be as special. This week for Fail Day I decided to go for something that all of us can related to. And, of course, by related to I mean we have screamed and yell at the person for doing so. So let's have a little fun with it.

You Fail At Avoiding Avoidable Damage If...
  • You think it is wise to attack a dragon from the front or at its tail
  • You are attracted to void zones therefore you must stand in them
  • You believe fire gives haste
  • You just got a new computer and you are in awe of that dragon breath to your face
  • You think a mob whirlwinding is trying to give you a high five
  • You think it is fun having your toon be shot up to the ceiling instead of moving out of an explosion
  • You get bored of looking at the same old toon therefore you embrace standing in things that modifies your toons colour
  • You have ADD and jump off elevators
  • You get scared during chain lightnings and in turn must stand beside someone to comfort you
  • Answering your whispers is more important than the boss fight
  • You believe interrupting is someone else's job
  • Your mouse uses recharable batteries
  • You think not tranq shoting is your way of making the tank work for his heals
  • You believe slimes are lonely and therefore never cease a chance to give them a much needed hug

and finally

  • Your computer is so bad that the time of day is greater than your frame rate

And there you have it this weeks dose of fail. Hope you all enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it. May the patch bring you what you wanted and may your Free Loot Tuesday be one filled with joy and happiness.

Ask Gauss

Sunday is upon us and on Sunday's it is the weekly custom to answer the questions I have got throughout the week. No this is not an excuse to ignore everyone through the week and save answering my mail for one day. This although a great idea would just add to more mail about me not answering mail. So if some people are still unsure at how to send in their questions it is afterall pretty simple. Click the link on the top of the page or send an email to gaussafication@gmail.com. So with all of that out of the way time for this week's questions.

So will you be doing FTH again?

Of course, I will. This issue at the current moment is that the leader have as much health and if not more than a 25 man raid boss. This is not impossible to kill, but just means the groups themselves have to be composed of more higher end players. Also with the cities now being major hubs it means that there will also be much more defence, which involves much more planning. So this doesn't mean they won't be done it just means that I need to make sure I have a sound group in order for it to be completed. Basically I am giving the community a chance to gear up before I put them to the test. So keep waiting maybe 1-2 more weeks before we make Saturday and Sunday afternoons again full of fun.

What do you think of Blizzard's choice to increase the luck of the draw buff?

Well I am very conflicted actually. I understand that pugs have much less coordination then an organized group. This is obvious and having a buff to make up for this makes sense, but while increasing a buff can help you make up for lack of coordination it can also make you ignore tatics and make content too easy, which was obviously the case in Wrath. This could make people not "trained" well enough for raids and going into raids with gear where they should have learned to do this and that which they didn't because they were only able to complete the instance correctly because of a 15% buff. Maybe I am just looking on the bad side of things, but I just always cringe when buffs are increased when content wasn't able to be done at the previous buff level then instantly completed when it is increased.

Best raid death so far?

The Elevator...

So that is it for this week. As always your question can not be answered if you don't actually ask it. I know it is a hard concept. Next week's Reader Post is going to be about elevator deaths. Send them in, as always but Thursday night to have a chance to be a part of it. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

The Quest You Didn't Know

So Friday is here and it is still freezing outside and that makes me glad I am inside typing. At least my furnace works and can keep me warm. I guess mother nature has to remind us that it is indeed February. So what was I posting about? Oh ya it is Friday, which means it is the Reader Post. The topic for this week was pretty simple. I wanted you to tell me about a quest that you enjoyed that not many people know about. Even with telling you all this people seemed to think that no one knows about "I'm gonna punch that dragon in the face!" or the "Peacebloom vs Ghouls". They must live under a rock or something. So here are the quests or questlines that people may not know about.

Welcome to the Machine (and the three chains that follow) is my favourite. The three stereotypes parodied during the first quest are just brilliantly done, and the way those three characters are used in their subsequent follow-ups are amazilarious (that's amazing and hilarious).

The highly cinematic questline with Orkus. He dies in the process and gets a heros memorial. Overall probably one of the best and cinematic quests I have ever done. Shows a staggering amount of character development in relatively short amount of time. And as far as I am concerned it is as good as any quest in a single player RPG. So congrats to Blizzard on this and let's have more of this.

In my opinion "The Ballad of Maximillian" quest chain in Un'Goro was probably one of the funniest quest lines I've ever seen in WoW and that's through pre-bc and every expansion's experience. I love how they slip yet another reference to Blood Elf males looking like a "fair damsel". Then, of course, he strips naked while you're both on horseback and you chuck armor at a giant devilsaur.

The Stonetalon experience now as horde is nothing short of epic. The conclusion with Garrosh makes it in my opinion the greatest zone Blizzard has ever designed. It not only shows how people can get corrupted with power, but shows just how much good people are capable as well. It is my hope that Blizzard keeps designing zones like this it really makes the game a marvel.

I thought the whole Vanessa/Hope thing was pretty cool. When you had to go to the tower and that bad ass SI7 (or w/e the Rogue peeps are called) sniper took out the lvl 13 elites so you didn't get smashed by them on your way in/out of the tower. And she took them out with head shots to boot! It was awesome running away and looking behind my toon and seeing the splashes of blood from 'sploded Defias thug heads. I even tried to tell my wife about it even though she lost interest a split second before I started talking to her. Pretty cool quest chain even though i had it figured out ahead of time.

I got a good laugh out of "The Absent-Minded Prospector" in Darkshore. Our befuddled dwarf NPC has left his journal at a campsite and needs escorted to it. He leads you around a pit of ruins, exclaiming that they look just like the ruins he discovered recently... amazed that he keeps running into murlocs... and, finally, after going around the ruins in a circle, he comes back to the original camp and proclaims he has found his lost journal, thanking you for the escort. His companions in the camp are not impressed.

I know that it's all just a Rambo parody, but the quests with John J. Keeshan in Redridge Mountains really stick out in my mind. For once, working with NPCs that stay with you wasn't a pain in the ass - they were actually helpful - and the whole thing makes you feel like you're really part of a covert anti-orc operation. It turned a zone I avoided at all costs into one long adventure. And the ending... let's just say my shadow priest wore the items you get at the end for as long as possible.

That is it for this week. Hope you all now have quests to go check out when you are not bust doing much of anything or waiting for your queues to pop. Look for next week's topic during the Ask Gauss . Enjoy your weekend and keep warm.

A Great Look and Theory About the Light

Something that anyone knows who reads this blog knows is I am not only interested in the Lore of this game, but also in the interpretation of it. So over at the Orcish Army Knife there was a post about "the Light". Now the Light is something that has always puzzled and fascinated me. This is probably also because how the Titan's and The Light are not really connect, but that is a topic for another day. The post goes on to talk about how the Light may in fact be an Element itself. This, of course, all stems from how some Draenei's look down upon their shaman for worshiping Elements instead of the Light.

The post goes on to explain how they are in fact very similar. It explains how a Shaman's relationship to the Elements and a Paladin/Priest relationship to the light are very similar to the core. More so the post explains that all worshipers of the light are not in fact "good" which I have argued for the longest of times. So I will say it again this is really a read for anyone who is interest in Lore or background theories of the Lore and you should really take the 5 or 10 minutes to read it.

You can view this post by clicking here.

To expand on this I have always had issues with the Naaru's relationship with the world. If the Naaru are true beings of the light then what are true beings of the shadow? Now the Shadow is something that I have always had trouble getting around. Some think the scourge is the shadow, and would mean the Lich King is the incarnation of the shadow. This to me makes no sense because if the Light can only exist with the Shadow then one cannot exist without the other. So what is my point? Well we know for a fact that the Light has existed much longer than the existence of the Lich King. So this begs the question, what is the Shadow?

Needing A Laugh

So today if you are like me you need a good laugh. So here are to small comics I figured you would enjoy.

First one is the classic Skill vs Gear debate. Over the years this has always been a hot topic where anyone and everyone seems to have an opinion on the situation. I think this comic by nerfnow.com has finally put the debate to rest.

In this second comic it is much more thought provoking. Have you ever wondered how it is determined who is placed in your random heroic? Yes this must be a secret kept by GMs all over the WoW universe, but some how some way their methods have been leaked to us.

Hope you all enjoyed those. As I am sure you all have your own out there theories of how the invisible hand of Blizzard solves these problems which exist in Azeroth. So take this have a laugh and enjoy the crazy amounts of snow outside that have me stuck in the house and going some what mad, oh and Happy Groundhog Day

You Fail At Summoning If...

Tuesday is upon us once again, and of course as all of you should know it is Fail Day. The day of the week where we assume we are better than everyone else and poke fun at everyone elses mishaps. So someone named Proxate gave me this idea a couple weeks ago and I finally put together a list to complete it. So as a tribute to my emo warlock brothers and sisters here it goes.

You Fail At Summoning If...
  • You move while being one of the people clicking on the portal
  • You accept a summon over a ledge or one that puts you in fire
  • You didn't know you could summon yourself
  • You get freaked when you see someone use the teleport trick
  • You weren't part of the glory days of summoning bosses in Orgrimmar
  • Your choice of locations for the summoning portal resemble the centre of a room
  • You don't think it is ironic being a warlock and begging for a summon
  • You ask for a summon while zoning in anywhere
  • You call for a soul well instead of a TV
  • You spam summon on the tank when he is trying to pull
  • You summon people standing right beside you because you find it amusing
  • You put the summoning portal on top of a feast or a mage table
  • You are asking for a summon when you are in a party of two
  • You are in combat the entire duration of the summon and therefore were unable to accept it

and finally

  • You click a mage portal thinking it is a summoning portal

And that would be it for this week. Thanks once again to Proxate for the topic. Enjoy making fun of those that fail more than you. Enjoy the reset and may your loot be with you.
