Ask Gauss

Sunday is here and as most people would be semi depressed on Sunday because it is the last day of the weekend it is not such a day here. Since tomorrow is the Civic Holiday and all my good Canadian folks have the day off. Being Sunday though it is that time of the week where it is Ask Gauss. The post of the week where I go through some questions I have gotten and answer a few on here. So let's just get to it.

Of the people listed in the ask the Devs question, who are you most interested in to know where they are?

I believe they were referring the this question Where is X? (X = Calia Menethil, Turalyon, Alleria Windrunner, Med'an, Gallywix, etc.). As much as I would love to know what is going on with Turalyon and Alleria there is just part of me that is intrigued by Calia Menethil. This is the heir to the throne of Lordaeron. Her being alive and somewhere could change many things. With the Banshee Queen going almost nuts wouldn't it be something if the true leader of the Kingdom of Lordaeron returned as an undead to rule the Forsaken? Or maybe she will exile herself to Stormwind and befriend Varian, just as the opposite was true when Varian was exiled and befriended Arthas. Only time will tell but this is an arc I am looking forward to.

What encounter do you think was designed with the most epicness in mind?

Now there are many boss fights in WoW which I enjoy because they have gimmicks I liked or put raids to the test. There have been encounters I have hated because even if you do things perfectly you could be screwed over by simple RNG. There is one fight though that had the best balance of everything and a fight of the likes that we will never see again. This is the Illidian encounter. The reason why I don't think we will ever see something like this again is simple. This fight had a 30minute enrage timer. This fight had 5 phases, but not 5 phases where each phase lasted like 15 seconds. This was a long fight that required your raid to have positioning, attention, cohesion, and the ability to trust that everyone could do the specific tasks they had for each phase. Be it slows, novas, AoEs, kiting, healing cooldowns, etc. Everyone had a job during this fight. Yes it was tiring and exhausting taking a part in it when it was in its prime, but it gave satisfaction as well and you were not only proud of yourself, but your group as a whole for doing their part. I really hope they have a marathon encounter again,  but if they didn't do it with Arthas(15min) they I find it very unlikely.

What do you think of the "Hour of Twilight" vision by Ysera?

Topic for another day my friend. But I will give you quite a write up on it.

That is it for this week. Hope you got something you needed out of it. For those waiting for it next week's Reader Post is going to be about your opinion on Calia Menethil and her part to play. As always you have until Thursday night to get your thoughts in. Enjoy what is left of your weekend and if like me and having a long weekend, well I know you will enjoy that.

Suprise Bosses

Friday! Yes and the start of a long weekend here in Canada. We get Monday off because we are awesome like that. Yes, I know you are jealous. Today though is Friday not Monday, which means it is time for the Reader Post. Was an interesting topic this week. I asked you all to send in who you think will be the most unexpected boss in the final instance of this expansion. So really there is no real smooth way to flow into this so let's just see what some of you had to say.

I believe Rastakhan still has a part to play in this expansion. Yes he empowered the trolls, but that cannot be everything that he is coming to do in this expansion. After being out of the Lore for this long in the game and being a footnote would be pretty dumb. So I have no reason to suggest why he will be or how he will connect to everything, but I just have this feeling we will see him again.

I get this feeling that Sabellian will be involved in the Deathwing instance. His last surviving true son. This Expansion is supposed to have to death with all of the Black Flight so how could now really the only real member of it left besides that uncorrupted egg not be part of it. Either that or some how someway Sabellian will be the new Black Dragon Aspect. Guess only time will tell, but I would be in favour of either option always loved this character and loved his quests in Blades Edge.

Mal'Ganis I think would be a great boss to have to lead us into the next expansion. I am unsure how he would tie in but he did vow revenge against all of us. This I think could some how link the Old Gods and the legion. Something to think about I think.

I think they will do an instance like ruby sanctum again and this one obvious is going to have to segway into Azshara in some way. This is where I think we will see Neptulon as the boss we fight that will bring us that way. He will be some how be a servant to Azshara we will have to take him down before he can like engulf Azeroth full of water or something. This will also be a great way to end the whole Elemental Lords in one expansion and we will never hear from them again.

There you have it. As always thank you to everyone who submitted it is always very much appreciated when all of you participate. If you are curious about next week's topic be sure to look at Sunday's Ask Gauss post to find out the topic. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Paragon's Heroic Ragnaros Kill Video

Now normally I don't post kill videos, but I really right now feel that this should be posted and not only referenced. Paragon killed Ragnaros on Heroic 2 full resets before anyone else. No one in WoW has killed a boss as a world first that sooner than another guild. Most frequently it happens maybe a few days or one reset at most before another guild. This is really showing how well Paragon is preforming. One thing also worth mentioning is that both Paragon and Method have stated that this is probably the most difficult encounter Blizzard has ever created. Sorry M'uru you after all these years have taken a back seat.

The video itself is 17+ minutes so make sure you have time. Now most PvE videos are generally very boring because they just overlay with music. This has the music, but also the sounds of the raid and most importantly the actual raid sounds. Once again great work Paragon and here is the video

Also I didn't mention it yesterday, but want to make a point of it today. Thank you to everyone for your birthday wishes. Taking the time to do that was quite appreciated by myself.

Fun Being Interviewed

So yesterday I had the chance to be interviewed by a new Blogger and a youtube video maker. He refers to himself as Pencils1999. I have done interviews before as many of you know, but this one was much different since all the others have been by established bloggers or sites and just thought of me as a an interesting person to talk to because as of all of you know when I get going I well keep going.

So why was this different? Well Pencils is just starting out and I was his first interview and being the one he chose to start out with is quite an honor to me. So yes the interview may be things I have already told all of you because well I do tend to talk about all these things a lot. It just may be in a different perspective than you are used to. Also might give you a chance to check out his blog or channel and hey you may find something you like.

Thanks again Pencils hope this is the first of many and I wish you all the best in all that you decide to do.

You can check out the interview here.

And since I probably owe you all something funny and well the Daily Blink has this epicness

Yes I really know how epic this really is

You Fail At Celebrating Gauss' Birthday If...

Ah yes it is Tuesday, which means of course it is Fail Day. Today though is a very special Fail Day because it is also my birthday. So with that in I decide to compile a special Fail Day post for just this occasion and I hope you enjoy it.

You Fail At Celebrating Gauss' Birthday If...
  • When doing a heroic today you do optional bosses
  • Upon seeing a ret pally you don't immediately /facepalm and /lol
  • You don't make it a point to point out every TRH you see
  • You don't remember how to dive in water
  • You don't make it a point to learn something you don't know about Warcraft lore
  • You play Alliance
  • You don't visit Carine's grave
  • You have enough hit to hit a level 90 boss
  • You don't have a moment of silence for Pi
  • You don't smile when someone is selling a feeble sword for 2000g in trade
  • The name of Bagellord doesn't make you feel that much better about yourself
  • You put green gems in epic gear
  • You ride your turtle mount
  • You don't go to Grizzly Hills and have yourself an epic log ride
and finally
  • You had no idea today was Fail Day
There you have it. Hope you all enjoyed it. Have yourselves a great Free Loot Tuesday.

When Facing Death

Monday is upon us once again, which means it is time to showcase a Machinima front and centre for Machinima Monday. The video I decided to showcase this week to me is simply amazingly done. It is only has 450+ views on youtube and I think more people need to see this video and this machinimaker. In the past Rothicol has brought us "The Prince's Bottle" which in itself was quite the video. When Facing Death takes the animation and your thought process to an entirely new level. I struggle for words to describe this machinima and I am sure you all will as well. So without waiting any longer here it is

Hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. Share it with those you know and lets get this video the recognition it deserves. Good luck on your last day before reset.

Ask Gauss

Sunday it is and the weather outside still has not let up. I don't live in Canada because I want to deal with topical weather. Anyways, that really has nothing to do with today's post, which because it is Sunday is Ask Gauss. The post of the week where I get to answer a bunch of questions. As always if you want to send in your questions you can click on the link on the top right of the page or just email them to gaussafication@gmail.com. So without waiting any longer here goes.

So what is/was the most important thing we should know that happened in Twilight of the Aspects?

First off there will be SPOILERS in this answer so if you don't want to hear them please move on to the next question.

Well really the most important thing is that it has been confirmed that Nozdormu is the leader of the Infinite Dragonflight. Now there wasn't extreme details on this being about if it has anything to do with him avoiding his death or anything like that. What was explained is that the Infinite dragonflight could be from a completely different timeline themselves, but Nozdormu himself doesn't actually know which timeline is the "real" timeline. Meaning he knows whats going to happen, but doesn't know if it occurs in the true timeline or one of the off timelines. This is something that makes me look really forward to the War of the Ancients CoT instance because of the very fact that it will be common knowledge that Nozdormu himself is the leader of the Infinite flight. Interesting very interesting indeed.

Your thoughts on Metzen's announcement that Thrall will be returning to the Horde?

Well really was there any doubt? Now the true question comes when Thrall returns what happens to Garrosh? Does he realize that he is done with Politics and will just walk around smashing faces? Will he be the Leader of the Military and Thrall will take part in all political affairs? Or will he sit next to Thrall and be his number two and will be treated as such. I guess only time will tell and also comes down to the fact if Thrall thinks Garrosh has done a good job or not.

Who do you think is going to be the most unexpected boss in the final instance of this expansion?

Archbishop Benedictus without a doubt.

There you have it the questions answered for the week. As always thank you to everyone who sent one in. I am glad to answer them all even if they don't appear on the Blog every time you ask them. Next week's Reader Post is going to be who you think will be the most unexpected boss in the final instance of this expansion. As always is the case you have until Thursday night to get them in. Enjoy what is left of your weekend!

Daily Quest Love

So it is Friday, which means it is the Reader Post. I also don't know about you, but the heat her is intense beyond belief and makes me believe in the gods of air conditioning. This is why also today is a great day to talk about everyone's Favourite Daily quests because many will be inside finding things to do, maybe do some dailies? Anyways, let's see what you all had to say about your Favourite Dailies

Although the quest seems to be gone with 4.1. I loved the Plants vs Zombies Daily. Although it wasn't as awesome as the real game it was fun and mini games are always great. Here is my hope that Blizzard brings back this daily as I cannot be the only one who misses it.

Of all of the WoW daily quests, my favorite is without a doubt “Defending Wyrmrest Temple”.
If you aren’t familiar with it, this daily quest asks you to hop on the back of a red dragon and go burninate some blues who have overstepped their bounds. It ends with you dive bombing an entire dragonshrine. How is this not amazing in everyway possible?

Ever since I found it in terrokar forest my favorite has to be the spirit towers where you capture a tower and the reward it at least 200 honor points. not being much a pvp player it is a nice way for me to get those points though it will take months to get enough for a mount it is still fun.

During the Hallow`s End event when you have to stop the fires on the buildings in the starter type towns before the Headless Horsemen is able to burn them down. I just have always found this quest fun especially the whole run and fill the bucket thing going back and forth. Even more so how you can team up and have someone throw buckets at you and you can create this sort of line of tossing to put out the fires. Full of win and awesomeness.

Pygmy smashing. Is there any other quest really that compares to smashing Pygmies with a mallet? Like really there is nothing and never will be anything better. Whoever thought of this daily needs to be promoted to the greatest position Blizzard has to offer and then buy this guy or girl a crown and give them the title of king or queen of dailies.

The one in Grizzly Hills at Venture Bay when you ride the rocket and send it into a boat before it explodes. The best part is that you are riding a missile that is about to explode, like honestly how can you not think this is amazing?

There you have it. The Nation's take on Daily Quests. Thank you to everyone who sent in something as always sorry for all the ones that I didn't include. I still read them all. If you would like to take part in next week's Reader Post make sure you check out Sunday's Ask Gauss for next week's topic. Enjoy your weekend everyone

Heroic Ragnaros Dead

So yes this happened on the 19th but the point is still out there. First let me show you what paragon themselves had to say

Ragnaros: Too soon!

Or was it? No, not really. Not if you ask us.

We've NEVER put as much effort into a kill as we now did on downing Heroic Ragnaros. We had a few grueling low percentage wipes and we were already planning on continuing early tomorrow with a better set of gear. Our kill attempt was going to be our last pull of the night as the thunderstorms and disconnects were kicking in.

Then everything clicked. All of our combined effort, practicing, theorycrafting and planning finally paid off. We had a near-perfect try and Ragnaros just melted away. A wave of relief washed over us. It was finally over. We wiped 500+ times on the boss, although I lost count at some point. Absolutely epic feeling after such an epic fight!

We'd really like to thank all of you guys for supporting us. We also would like to extend our gratitude to our sponsors who help us do what we do; a big thank you to SteelSeries, ASUS and especially our new partner DREAM! We'd of course like to thank Blizzard and the developers as well. The hotfixes were lightning fast. :)

I want to give a big congrats out to Paragon on all their hard work on getting the first kill and being consistently awesome at getting these kills done since Wrath. You give the community something to strive towards and that is something you all should be proud of.

Now with that out of the way let's talk about something important with this kill and the past first kills. This is the 3rd world first end boss kill in the past 3 patches where there was not one DPS Shaman in the raid makeup. In fact there was only 1 resto shaman in the past 3 world first end boss kills. So what does this mean? Is this something that Blizzard should be worried about? Or is this something that is realized after the fact and is fixed? Or does this only effect the top of the top players in the world, and the average player should not worry themselves with it whatsoever?

I am thinking that yes it really doesn't matter to much to the average player, but it is something Blizzard should look at seriously. If the top guilds are not taking a particular class to kills this really is a concern on Blizzard's part in regards to balance. They think it is a disadvantage to actually bring such a class and spec and that is completely against what Blizzard has been trying to achieve. So hopefully Blizzard just doesn't brush something like this off like it is nothing and looks at it with the seriousness it requires.

Thrall: Twilight of The Aspects

So yesterday the new novel in regards to Warcraft came out. Here is a brief description of the novel.

When Azeroth was young, the noble titans appointed the five great dragonflights to safeguard the budding world. Each of the flights' leaders was imbued with a portion of the titans' vast cosmic powers. Together, these majestic Dragon Aspects committed themselves to thwarting any force that threatened the safety of the WORLD OF WARCRAFT.

Over ten thousand years ago, a betrayal by the maddened black Dragon Aspect, Deathwing, shattered the strength and unity of the dragonflights. His most recent assault on Azeroth—the Cataclysm—has left the world in turmoil. At the Maelstrom, the center of Azeroth's instability, former Horde warchief Thrall and other accomplished shaman struggle to keep the world from tearing apart in the wake of Deathwing's attack. Yet a battle also rages within Thrall regarding his new life in the shamanic Earthen Ring, hampering his normally unparalleled abilities.

Unable to focus on his duties, Thrall undertakes a seemingly menial task from an unexpected source: the mysterious green Dragon Aspect, Ysera. This humble endeavor soon becomes a journey spanning the lands of Azeroth and the timeways of history itself, bringing Thrall into contact with ancient dragonflights. Divided by conflict and mistrust, these dragons have become easy prey to a horrific new weapon unleashed by Deathwing's servants... a living nightmare engineered to exterminate Azeroth's winged guardians.

Of even greater concern is a bleak and terrifying possible future glimpsed by Ysera: the Hour of Twilight. Before this apocalyptic vision comes to pass, Thrall must purge his own doubts in order to discover his purpose in the world and aid Azeroth's dragonflights as they face the Twilight of the Aspects.

I have just started reading this and I can say that I have been able to get right into it. Christie Golden knows Thrall since she has been the writer on all things Thrall for Blizzard throughout the years. The timelime of this I am sure must take place before the elemental bonds questline since the part I am currently at Thrall is looking for Nozdormu. Now not going to give anything away, but there is some humor involved along with the story. Just think about Thrall going to CoT and what the scene would be like. So far I recommend this without question. Enjoy the read I know I will.

You Fail At Supporting Swifty If...

Happy Fail Day everyone, yes it is that day of the week again. This week though I decided to do a Fail Day on some current events. For those of you that didn't know anything about this I will show you a video directly from Swifty himself about what happened.

Let it also be known that yesterday he was unbanned, but regardless let's get to the fail!

You Fail At Supporting Swifty If...
  • You were one of the people spamming
  • You created a forum post every hour saying that Swifty was not causing community disruption
  • You just tell Swifty to buy another copy of WoW
  • You laugh at this without realizing the situation
  • You say good riddance
  • You keep telling Blizzard it is their own fault for having horrible servers
  • You think WoW will be better off without these professional gamers
  • You were one of the people complaining that your server crashed because of him
  • You think he was intentionally trying to crash a server as a joke or prank to everyone
  • You tried to create a toon named Swifty on his server when you heard about this
  • You are the GM named Daemhunn
  • You posted that this is a time for him to finally grow up and get a real job
  • You say well deserved, when you are one of the people who laughs when you spam emotes and disconnect people
and finally
  • Your name is Zybak
And there you have it this week's edition of fail. Grats to Swifty on getting unbanned. Make me think twice about bring a whole ton of people together as causing crashes might get myself into problems as well.

How To Tell If Your Pug Will Fail

So here we are with another Monday. Yes you can stop being depressed because it is time for me to showcase a machinima for you. Why you ask? Because that is what we do on Mondays. You don't ask why you brush your teetch every morning, do you? Anyways, today I went to WoW Crendor again with this machinima where I simply don't know if I want to cry or laugh hysterically because of the content. Again I know you are asking why. The reason is simple because this is like the way 90% of PUG groups end up like. This is the reason people hate PUGs and everything attached with them. It is the 10% of the groups that actually keep people pugging. So I will let you decide after you watch it.

So what you think? Enjoy your Monday and your last day before reset.

Ask Gauss

Wow it is Sunday already and I feel like the weekend just started. Regardless we all know what Sunday brings here time for me to answer a bunch of questions which you all have decided you cared to have my opinion on. So without going through some in depth explanation of how and why let's just get to it.

What is your Opinion on the Firelands Daily Hub?

Well I think Blizzard has finally got the whole daily quest hub thing right. They learned about having many people doing quests in a region all at once, they learned about mob tagging, they learned about respawns, and everything else you can think of. I think anyone who remembers the start of the daily hubs in Netherwing ledge, Skettis, or everyone's favourite Isle of Quel Danas. You know how awful those zones were in their prime with all of the things mentioned about and what you had to go through to actually accomplish anything of any purpose. So props to Blizzard on finally learning to make a daily hub that works on all accounts.

With all the cutscenes in quests now, do you think Blizzard has gone too far with it?

Not at all. I am a lore person so I enjoy this sort of thing. There is only some much imagination you can expect from people about how everything in a quest is accomplished while you were off collecting such and such. This way you feel more apart of everything and I would challenge you to find someone that preferred the old 1-60 leveling experience over the new 1-60 and if you did find someone that said they preferred the old version they are trolling you.

What is your favourite part of trade chat?

When it is filled with Pi

There you have it your questions answered for the week. Well at least the ones that I chose to on here. Hope you got something out of it. The next Reader's Post I want you to tell me about your favourite daily quest ever. As always you have until Thursday night to get them in. Enjoy what is left of your weekend

Most Memorable Lore Moments

So here we are another Friday, another start to what we hope is a great weekend. So what do we do? Well we start it off with the Reader Post. You know the post which is made up of your submissions on the specific topic. And what was the topic this week? Well I wanted all of you to send in what you thought were the best lore moments in History. Now since I just asked for descriptions and I got them. I did a little digging for the submissions and decided to add a quote from the specific time to make the moment jog peoples memory or get in the moment. So here goes.

Out of all the moments in Warcraft there is one that stands out in my mind and it is one which I believe many see as "the moment". The defeat of the Old Horde in Blackrock Mountain and when Lothar was slain. Turalyon stands tall in front of Orgrim and just let's it known that the fight is over and the Alliance has one. If Warcraft is ever made into a full length movie this is truly the moment that everyone would remember.

"You will stand trial for your crimes. You will stand in Capital City, in chains as the leaders of the Alliance decide your fate, and there you will acknowledge your full defeat. But you will not be so lucky. You will die here, with the rest of your kind, and this world will be rid of your taint forever!"

I am new to WoW never have read any of the novels, but I still believe the seen at the Wrath gate is better than anything else could ever be. Just the seen where you finally think there is going to be a fight between the Lich King and the forces of the Horde and Alliance as a team the Forsaken come and ruin everything and drive everyone to war with one another. Simply epic storytelling

"Did you think we had forgotten? Did you think we had forgiven? Behold, now, the terrible vengeance of the Forsaken! Death to the Scourge! And death to the living!"

Everyone always talks about the love Triangle and story  between Tyrande, Malfurion, and Illidan. I was always the person voting for Illidan. He always tried so hard to impress her and make her see that he would really do anything for her. Malfurion always doing things to help out everyone and not really truly recognizing what she was giving up to be with him. Yes, we do see in the Stormrage Novel that Malfurion decides to finally marry Tyrande. I just always wonder what would have happened if Tyrande had chose Illidan over Malfurion and how different and if not better the world of Azeroth would be. Also though the brothers themselves through thick and thin come to terms with themselves and realize that they are the two most important people in the survival for the world. I am so looking forward to the redemption of Illidan somehow and that he will return and the brothers can do what they were always meant to destroy Sargeras.

"Whatever I may be - whatever I may become in this world - know that I will always look out for you, Tyrande."
"We have had much strife between us, my brother. I have known only ages of hate for you. But, for my part, I wish it to end. From this day forward, let there be peace between us."

As an Orc Warrior myself how can stories of Lore go told without mentioning the greatest warrior in the history of the Orcs Broxigar. When he jumped through the portal and defeated countless demons that he in turn had to fight on a pile of them only to come face to face with Sargeras himself and actually wounded him. Before dying everyone should remember that the world itself is safe and sound because of Brox and his sacrifice.

"Farewell, wizard! It is my honor to have fought beside you and the rest!"

It is simple. When Grom killed Mannoroth. There is no moment more important or my epic in my mind then that. The one who began the curse ended the curse and forever saved the orcs.  He is the greatest hero the Horde will ever know and they should never forget that.

Grom: Thrall... the blood haze has lifted... the demon's fire has burnt out in my veins....I...have...freed...myself...
Thrall: No, old friend...you've freed us all.

There you have it. The Nations choice for the greatest lore moments in the history of Warcraft. Thank you everyone for all the submissions I read through them all as always and I am sorry I couldn't include every single one. Look for next week's topic on Sunday during Ask Gauss. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

The Hunt Is Finished???

So I know Monday is for Machinimas and that will always be the case unless something like this happens. Let tell you the Movie "The Hunt" by Fubarius is done. Yes, the movie everyone thought was lost after this last blog post in October 2008

I have been working on "The Hunt" since my last post on this blog. I have been very busy over the summer, but I've tried to find time to work on the movie. I'm starting to free up my schedule a bit and will start working on it more often now.

I know progress has been slow, but I've invested too much time into this project to give up now. This film will get done, don't worry. Thanks for being patient and giving me a reason to keep doing this.

Dave

Yes this was in 2008, now the movie has been completed by the surprise of everyone in the machinima community. I can tell you when I logged on youtube yesterday and saw the official movie trailer in my subscription box I was shocked, surprised, and overjoyed. Here is the trailer

All I can is that I am so excited to see this after such a long wait though I hope I haven't put it up so high on a pedestal that it is impossible to live up to. I doubt it though Fubarius movies have always been amazing in their production and presentation. I hope you all are as excited as I am for this.

Gauss' Top 3 Lore Moments

So on Sunday during Ask Gauss a question came up. What is your favourite lore moment in WoW? In truth I really had to think about this. I decided that actually making a topic based on this would probably give it the attention it deserves. Also through it in as a Reader Post for Friday and I look forward to hearing what you all have to say in regards to that. So here goes my top lore moments.

Garrosh confronts Krom'gar

Many people who play Alliance probably have never experienced or seen this happen. This to me is the best questing experience not only in Cataclysm, but all of WoW to date. You are part of everything that is happening and become intertwined into the story as a whole. The finale though really does the whole experience justice. I will never forget the chills that I got when Garrosh says "Am I a murderer, Krom'gar?". Without a doubt this belongs in the group as best lore moments.

Queen Azshara's Rebirth

This moment is big for me because all the unknown behind it. There is so much mystery just from what we know already. Here is the quote from the War of the Ancients Trilogy. "There is a way...there is a way...you will become more than you ever were...more than you ever were...we can help...we can help...You will be more than you have ever been...and when the time comes, for what we grant you...you will serve us well..." So what was it exactly that let Azshara live and turn them into the naga? Was it the Old Gods, was it Neptulon, or was it something completely different? This was an incredible use of foreshadowing into the future and will make us think over and over again until we know exactly what happened. The good thing is we will probably find out in time for her to be the big baddie for the next expansion.

Cairne Coming For The Horde

This took place in Warcraft III Frozen Throne during the Orc Campaign. Yes I know I am a sucker for all things Cairne, but this truly was a moment that really shows what the Horde and honor are all about. During this part of the game Baine was taken hostage and when Rexxar came to ask for Cairne's help he was depressed to no end at the potential loss of his son and would not listen to any reason. Rexxar then rescues Baine and brings him back to Cairne in a great moment of father to son. This moment is so much more dramatic realizing now what has happened with Cairne and Baine and how that story has progressed further. The moment that made this more than anything was when Cairne said this "Now, you said that your warchief was in trouble – that the Horde needed the tauren once again. Well, Thrall did much for us in his time, and we will not fail him. My warriors will rendezvous with the warchief upon the battlefield, but I will be returning with YOU!" After everything that went on Cairne's Honor stands tall as it always has. He never ceased to amaze and this time was no different.

There you have it my favourite lore moments from the history of the game. Also looking forward to all of your choices come Friday.

You Fail At Guild Achievements If...

Fail Day! Yes that is right the greatest day of the week, or at least everyone's favourite. This week I decide to do a fail post in honor of the guild Intent who recently got to 2000 achievement points as a guild, being the first guild to do so. So here goes

You Fail At Guild Achievements If..
  • You are not in a guild group trying to do a guild achievement
  • You are wiping while trying not to on past expansions content
  • You don't loot every corpse
  • You buy all your raw materials from the AH
  • You do not do your fair share of questing everyday
  • You have professions which are not maxed
  • Everyone in your guild is a blood elf
  • You think reputation grinds are worthless
  • Your guild has more achievement points than your main
  • The sum of your character toons levels doesn't even equal a max leveled toon
  • You are the only member of your guild
  • You think PvP or PvE is stupid and a waste of time
  • You're a guild hopper
and finally
  • You are not in a guild
There you have it this week's edition of fail. In tribute a big congrats to Intent on their 2000 guild achievement points that is quite some dedication. Good luck this reset everyone and good lucky at getting your honor back for your gear.

The Tuskarr and the Engineer

Yay it is Monday! See I tried to trick you all to think that you should feel good about it being Monday. Ok I'm sorry, but there is good reasons to be happy today you get to sit back and relax and watch a machinima I picked out for you all. Today I decided to pick a machinima which not only has great editing, but one that you can watch and not even realize who well the words have been put together. I challenge you all when you watch this to pay attention to how well the rhyming in the poem is. This is called the Tuskarr and the Engineer brought to us by the WoW Outcast Network the same people that brought us Ragnaros O's that you all loved so much. And before you ask yes there is the return of XT and Rotface. So without waiting any longer here it is.

Hope you all enjoy it. Had a good laugh, but also appreciated the work that went into this. Good luck on your last day before reset.

Ask Gauss

Sunday, Sunday Sunday! Yes it is Sunday if you didn't know. The day of the week that you realized that you wasted your weekend with nothing of purpose and you have to go back to work tomorrow. Also Sunday is the day where I get to answer a whole bunch of questions for some reason people would like me to answer.

One week of heroic being available and guilds are already at Ragnaros, is this a good thing?

Well first off we have to remember the guilds where this is the case are professional gamers. They spend their time trying and focusing to get this done. They have done the normal mode countless times on the PTR and have been developing strategies on the heroic modes for months. I think this blue post sums it up best

"I am endlessly intrigued to find players judging the difficulty of the encounters and how long lived the content is by how pro players, some of the most skilled and focused players in the world, engage the content. It's a little like judging the difficulty of juggling eight chainsaws by what the best jugglers in the world can accomplish. Sure, it might be easy for them, but when was the last time you tried it?"

So yes the professionals can get through it quickly, but that doesn't mean for a second the content itself is easy for the everyday gamer which is not part of the 0.1% of WoWs raiding population. Just remember that.

Blizzard admitted they were wrong with the PvP gear thing is this a sign of things to come?

Of all the things Blizzard has gone back on that I have argued against them doing I am glad they are fixing this. Why you may ask? Well it is simple this was a true mistake. This wasn't about them trying to get the community to earn something that should be earned or do something else to maintain a same rank or title this is about them making a mistake realizing it and fixing it. So in this case I applaud Blizzard for doing the right thing and not doing what a lot of people thought they were going to do and just give and apology.

What is your favourite Lore Moment is Warcraft?

Wow this is truly a question to think about. Maybe even make a post right to it.

There you have it. Thank you to everyone who sent in questions this week I was glad as always to answer them. Next week's Reader Post is going to be your favourite Lore moment in Warcraft, I will do my take on the topic this week as well so there is a preview for a coming post.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Till Death Do Us Part

Friday! You know that day after Thursday and the one that comes before Saturday. Well that day is today! More importantly though Friday means it is time for the weekly Reader Post. This week I asked you all to send in who you thought would be getting married next in terms of Lore. So let's see what everyone came up with.

I think it is pretty obvious with Thrall off the market that Jaina and Varian will be getting together. The starting of this coming together are very apparent in the novel "The Shattering" where she is becoming very motherly to Anduin. Not to mention there to comfort Varian. I don't think we will see this happening this expansion, but I believe certainly in the next one.

Sylvannas to someone and I really have no idea who. I just know Blizzard has something up their sleeve with Sylvannas making her this big epic thing in the game at some point and this will happen. Could ever be that deathkight she took hostage to "correct" his thinking.

Sargeras and Azshara is my guess and this will be in the next expansion we will find it has already happened. They were destined to be consorts during the War of the Ancients so it only makes sense. Also because everyone seems to know who Sargeras is, but are a little behind in knowing who Azshara is so this gives us Blizzard the opportunity to showcase how powerful she is and not only them just telling us this by being the "big baddy" of the next expansion.

I think the next likely people to get married would be Aggra and Thrall getting re-married. You see they will have children Thrall will go back to the Horde and start ignoring Aggra she will want a divorce and then he will be all lonely because he doesn't have his family anymore because his kids don't like the big city and want to hang around with Mom in Nagrand. Thrall will then give up his job, his life, and everything else because that is what everyone women expects and they will get re-married. Yes I know it is a wonderful love story.

There we have it that is it for this week. Hope you all enjoyed it. If you want to take part in next week's Reader Post look for the next topic on Sunday's Ask Gauss post. Thank you to everyone who sent something in and enjoy your weekend.

This Person Should Be Fired

So the new arena sets are out with the start of season 10. Now let me show you what the warrior set looks like.

So I completely understand that they want sets to look intimidating and rustic. Really that should be the goal for every PvP set. So I am completely fine with set except for one thing. Why is there pink flames covering the face? This honestly does this make any sense whatsoever? Yes, I realize that we have Bloodelf warriors now and they may feel more comfortable in this set more so than any other. This isn't a warrior set, that one addon completely ruins everything. Unless the goal for this set is that you will instantly be so distracted by this set that you break out laughing and then get destroyed in a matter of seconds. So really whoever designed this should be fired instantly. Not only for the pink fact, but also how are you supposed to see out of this when your face is on fire. Again no sense at all. How did this pass the drawing phase. This is honestly something you would draw when you are high as a kite and are on a binge. Thankfully though no other set is this horrible.

Time To Feel Better

So just thought today we would just go for a good laugh. So I decided to go on the same tangent we were on yesterday with the fake document and take a look at what the Daily Blink had to say about it.

So why is this comic epic? Well because it basically makes fun of every single thing that people poke fun at WoW for not to mention it makes fun of the entire way that the Memo itself was put together. Absolutely brillant in everyway possible. Hopefully this gave you a great laugh to start your day out.

You Fail At Making A Fake Blizzard Memo If...

Fail Day is upon us once again! Everyone's favourite day of the week. This week though I am not going to take aim at a bunch of people but at the people that released this fake Blizzard Memo about the new expansion. Here is the link of the memo if you haven't seen it Fake Memo. But time to have a little fun with it.

You Fail At Making A Fake Blizzard Memo If...
  • You don't but Blizzard's Real Address on the Memo
  • You think internal documents would ever say Activision Blizzard on them.
  • You think a memo would say "zing it back to me"
  • You ever think Blizzard will completely redesign Outland
  • If you think A'dal would ever pass over the fan base as the main Bad guy
  • You think saying anything like "neglected shadow priest class" would ever fly
  • You think anyone would ever believe a cheating and hacking site for finding a "leaked" document
  • You think Naga will ever be playable
  • You think there can be a Burning Legion expansion without a demon hunter hero class
  • You don't think obvious spelling and grammaticial errors are obvious
  • You ever believe Blizzard would admit to not being able to balance something
  • You just want to add rage to the fire by saying there will never be another Hero class
  • You don't find it odd that such a memo exists 3 months before Blizzcon
And finally
  • Blizzard isn't stupid to allow something like this to be released
There you have it this week's edition of Fail. Hope you all enjoyed it. This week time to see how many of the top guys get some heroic kills I am guessing 3 at least by the end of the week.

The Gilnean Fallow

Monday is here and a happy 4th of July to all the Americans reading this. Monday though has its own tradition and that being time for machinima. Now one of my favourite Machinimators for story related machinimas is Melvenor. His way of putting a video together is absolutely perfect. The way he uses camera angles, music and everything else that goes into making a video. So after a long break from him making videos I was glad to see that he came out with his prologue to his next Faces of Cataclysm video "The Gilnean Fallow". If you haven't seen his other Faces of Cataclysm videos I really recommend checking them out. Here is the video I will tell you my thoughts about it underneath as to not spoil it.

This may really be the best Story machinima I have ever seen. Maybe because it contains one of my favourite speechs in the game to date. To think is just the prologue to the actual video is beyond amazing. This video actually kept me strapped to my chair watching. I almost think you could show this video to someone who knows nothing about WoW and they will be beyond amazing with the video. Amazing job Melvenor as always and thank you.

Ask Gauss

Sunday is here the last day of the long weekend here in Canada. In the US though I guess you would have the reverse long weekend that we had. Regardless of that useless type chat today being Sunday means it is time for Ask Gauss. You know the post of the week where I answer a few questions I was sent throughout the week. So let's just get to it.

What is your opinion of what Stars did?

For those that don't know this is what they did curtosy mmo chammpion

"A lot of guilds killed all the bosses of the Firelands raid in normal mode already but it seems that Stars (TW - Crystalpine Stinger) decided to take it one step further. After clearing the encounters in normal mode, the entire raid changed faction to reset their raid ID and started working on heroic encounters shortly after, that kind of thing happened in the past and it's not really surprising to see it used again to grab first kills."

Now Blizzard has known for awhile that server transfers and faction changes reset raid IDs. So they know this has always been possible. They have also done nothing to stop it. Now maybe they thought guilds were never that serious that on the first week of killing content they would faction change the entire guild just to get a world first kill. What you have to understand though is that these guilds play for that chance to get the world first kill. Now later Blizzard hotfixed to close Heroic Mode for the week, which they really should have done in the first place to stop this from happening. Now back to think if I am against what Stars did. Honestly, no they used what was capable of them in game and didn't break any rules that are in the game so all the power to them.

Were you expecting the ending of the Elemental Bonds questline?

Well I thought at first they were actually going to ignore that whole storyline because from the trailer it was almost as if that had already taken place without us knowing. Them putting it into the game though was a great thing by Blizzard. Really shows that they are all for showcasing the lore of the game in the way they should. The reason WoW has stood for so long is because the story that is involved with it. It is interesting and intriguing and it is what will keep people playing more so than anything else. Everyone wants to see how something ends and this is no different.

Who is going to be the next WoW couple to get married?

Hmm.. Interesing

So that is it for this week. Hope you all got the answers you were looking for or just accepted the answers I gave. Next week's Reader Post I want you to tell me how you think the next WoW couple to get married will be. As always you have until Thursday night to get those into me. Enjoy what is left of your weekend everyone

4.2 That It Be

Happy Canada Day everyone! Being a proud Canadian though and celebrating this holiday is not going to take away the fact that today is Friday and is time for the Reader Post. Yes, I know I am a trooper, and you can thank me for it later. So regarding the Reader Post, this week I asked everyone to send in what their favourite part of 4.2 was/is. Let's us get on with all of your thoughts

I really enjoyed the Thrall questline. It was first of all a really great way to show the connection between Aggra and Thrall. Secondly it involved not just talk to this or go get me some of this. It was all encompassing which is the way a questline such as this should be. Good job on Blizzard and extremely well done.

I liked how Stars used Blizzards own system against them to get the world first heroic kill by faction changing their entire guild. The question comes down to will Blizzard ban them for doing something that has been known about since the beginning of faction changes. My guess is no, but they have surprised me before.

The new daily hub. Maybe it is just me, but doing the same dailies everyday when I have no reason to do them anymore just for something to do while waiting for a queue is rather boring. At least now I have dailies although a minimal amount at first that I can do where I am actually achieving something and not just doing them to past the time.

Just going into the Firelands made it worth the wait. Blizzard did and excellent job of designing this zone and should be commended for it. Maybe it is just me and my anticipation of wanting to get into this zone since way back at Blizzcon when they announced it. I was not disappointed and was impressed more than I actually thought I would be to the layout and how well things seem to come together in there.

4.2 just came out and you want me to tell you what the best part is? Give me a few months and I will tell you but don't rush me to make a decision on something that is just a couple days old.

Thank you everyone for your submissions. As always sorry I couldn't include everyone's but I cannot let the post length get out of control as then less people would read it then already do. For next week's topic be sure to check out Sunday's Ask Gauss post to be able to partake in the next. Happy Canada Day and enjoy your weekend!
